  1. I'm waiting for an Adaptil collar to be delivered from Amazon for my pup. When alone he is either barking and scratching the door like crazy or asleep. So far I have bought and tried everything (I even bought the Thundershirt AND Anxiety Wrap) and this is my last resort. Fingers crossed! I will report back if it works :)
  2. You are so lucky! My video tape showed that my puppy will eat his meal then bark constantly until I'm home. I have an Anxiety Wrap ordered so hopefully that eases things for him.
  3. I saw that exact bag of food at my local Woolworths last night.
  4. Oh..I love doing that to people. Willow loves bull chews, we use them at bedtime to keep her quietly gnawing away if she's not quite ready to sleep. People ask me..."Oh, what are bull chews?" I say, "Well, you know...Bull...bits." Doesn't take em too long to put two and two together with interesting results. I'm always puzzled by people who say stuff like, "Poor Pig" or "Poor Cow" when buying pet treats. I ask them, "Do you like bacon?" But somehow that's different. My friend was holding my puppy with the bully stick so he wouldn't bite his hands. Was hoping he wouldn't ask what it was. Haha yes I'm vegetarian and it makes me SO annoyed when people say that! Then they eat steak for dinner without a second thought . Handling all this meat is kinda gross but my pup enjoys it so much I could never deprive him of it.
  5. Anyone here know where to find good quality bully sticks in Australia? My dog is in love with them but they are pretty expensive and the ones I got from Pet Barn seem airy and thin. From browsing American websites/forums I've learnt there are bully sticks that last longer (many recommend www.bestbullysticks.com), but of course they don't ship overseas to Australia.
  6. I've heard antlers can break teeth so make sure your pup doesn't chew on it aggressively. I think they like antlers for the marrow inside it, similar to bone marrow. I bought my pup one with the marrow exposed and he's eaten a bit of the marrow. Did give him some constipation at first but now he's fine :)
  7. Cavaliers dont' come in black. Closest you get is tri-colour. There are black and tan Cavaliers that can be mostly black. They look gorgeous!
  8. That's funny because yesterday I was at a cafe and it was the other way around! There was a Collie tied to a table whining and pulling at the table trying to get to my Cavalier. I find that a lot of dogs go crazy over my Cav but he just doesn't give a damn. However he will pull at the leash for any human, especially kids, he loves kids! Whenever we are at puppy class he will try to get all the dog owner's attention and not bother about the dogs :p
  9. They are not usually crazy, nor do they nip. Usually full of life and fun as pups but are happy to watch TV without having their legs run off. If yours is pedigree his behaviour is a bit off standard. Oh I was told by others this was just normal puppy behaviour. Thanks for correcting me.
  10. Also he will probably try to nip at peoples feet and he will sometimes grab my arm and growl if I'm on the floor while he's around. I exchange my arm for a toy but it is still not corrected and takes a lot of time and work. Just wanted to remind you that puppies are still puppies because that somehow went past my mind. I read the descriptions of Cavalier's and fell in love but didn't realise he would still be a crazy puppy. But now that I have him I wouldn't change anything :)
  11. I have a Cavalier puppy sleeping in my lap right now and so far he's been fantastic with kids! Cavaliers are known to be calm and gentle dogs but puppies are still puppies! He has a nipping problem that I'm still trying to correct after a month and he is very hyper. But after a good hour or two of running around the house (while watching him like a hawk so he doesn't poo/pee everywhere) he will just want to cuddle up in your lap. So he will only want to watch a movie with you once he's absolutely tuckered out (and will probably fall asleep right away). I would recommend buying an older Cavalier. I know I would rather skip the puppy stage if I had a full time job or kids.
  12. it won't 'pass' ... it can be stopped with training of humans and pup ..or let go and become worse .... Oh, and pups do not teethe until around 5 months old .. so teething is not a reason now ;) Yes I realised I worded that incorrectly after thinking back on it last night. I meant that it is solvable from training and most likely permanently ingrained in his personality or anything like that... Obviously I am not just going to let him continue biting me.. this post was to figure out ways to correct him! I'm not saying it causes it directly, but it may increase the risk so I don't want to take the chance. If you research Cavalier's, CM and SM, you would see the reason why people are so careful about their necks. I would much rather non-physical punishment, like time out (if I have to resort to punishment at all).
  13. Don't know how to delete this double post oops
  14. Thanks for all your suggestions guys! Good to know it's all normal puppy behaviour. I had no idea that biting would be my major issue with owning a puppy but I'm glad it is normal and will pass :)
  15. Thanks I wanted to know which technique I should stick with. I will continue with "settle down" and start handing him a kong with something yummy inside instead of a toy.
