  1. Haha maybe mines coming out of his shell, was once a quiet pup.
  2. Chriss this is a Amstaff you purchased mate, what where you thinking buying one without fences? This breed NEEDS constant mental stimulation and exercise. If you think you've got problems now then he's only going to get worse being a chain dog. This is not a set and forget breed, it's very demanding and need's to be a part of the family unit. Being locked in a bedroom all day with only bedding and toy's is only asking for trouble "BIG TIME". if you read it we have only just moved to this house we had the dog before moving, we moved here and there was'nt a fence, we had to wait around two weeks for them to put one up.
  3. Every time he feeds is a training session except some mornings.
  4. his bark is usally at the same pitch but does very from time to time and does get pritty loud, ears tilted back, chest on the ground with his butt up in the air tail wagging sometime and at other times he stands on all fours with his back straight ears tilted back and tail pointing straight no wagging like he's ready to go, he did the same thing tonight but only wanted to play as what I wrote just before. He seems to do it some of the time when I'm in the kitchen playing around with him or even sometimes just when I look at him, and the back yard just a few times. I wouldn't know how to explain his growl but it does'nt intimindate me at all only the first time it happened, I hope thats enough to go off I can see what you have written once I've clicked reply.
  5. He is really obedient and working on more, he knows sit, stay, lay down, heal, stop, shake, bed. Some commands like stay, sit, lay down I dont have to say it he knows my hand signals for all 3 of those commands. I've put alot of time into this dog some stressful some not, probably the best dog ive had to date. I know he would probably be getting agittated because he has'nt been getting the attention he had and so on but it will go back to how it was.
  6. He had plenty of exercise and kept active, its just been a couple of weeks while we have been moving and getting everything ready. He has still been played with just about every day just not as long as before and I've only managed to take him on 3 walks since we have been in the new house, so he has'nt been completely ignored and not that I'm meaning to. And I've owned 3 other staffies before him, a amstaff/english, a english staff and a amstaff pup I had not long ago that was with a family member but has now been rehomed with a new family. I've had some experiance with this breed but not any problems I think or may be facing at the momment.
  7. We didn't have a back fence untill last week, had in in a room with nothing in it at the time but he still managed to detroy the walls, doors, and the floor board skirts in a matter of a couple of hours when we were gone. He was provided with toys bedding etc. I find the chain to be a better option, its around a 20ft chain but I tie it down shorter so he cant reach the stuff we dont want damaged but he still has alot of length left to do his own thing while we're not home, have'nt had any problem since I used this option.
  8. The chain is placed high, its always above his head he has'nt been tangled at all. He just done it again it seems like he's being aggressive but he's not he's kept barking and growling then got a stick and wanted me to chase him with it, maybe I've taken it the wrong way I dont know, he came at me jumping back and forwards when I was'nt playing with him, could be his way of saying he wants to play? Still going to have someone take a look at him just incase.
  9. I'll deffently look into getting professional asap. I keep him and my daughter from distance since the first time hr did this. Sometimes he will react to eye to eye contact, he was a very quiet dog untill just now, I dont see him as a thret to me but untill I seek professional help and know weither its agression or not, my daughter is not to be around him. I have also been lacking in keeping him active and he has been on his own for atleast half a day almost every day on a chain indoors (provent more things getting damaged) due to moving houses I hope that could be the issue, but better safe then sorry. Thanks for everyone's advice and I'll be looking into it and get this sorted.
  10. He was born on the 4.3.13 so around 5 months old
  11. I've started a topic here awhile back but cant find it, anyway my staffy is now going through his "teenage" years and is starting to get aggresive towards me, he has bailed me up in the corner of the kitchen a couple of times growling and barking. Just yesterday I was in the backyard and he started sniffing my jumper and when I told him no and moved him away he went for me again but I ignored him and went on with what I was doing, that seemed to piss him off more and then he went at me. The only was I can seem to calm him down is by saying his name or go through with commands. This has only just started and it is only towards me and not sure why! Could it be that he's trying to play the dominet role? Or my tone of voice? He is great with my 2 year old child and my other half with aggrestion what so ever. I tested it the other day when he did it by putting my arm in his way to see if he would go to the extreme and actally take a bite at me but didn't? When he gets that way he still listens to my commands and if really abediant and that seems to be the only way I can stop him from doing it, this all started a week ago when I was playing with him and he just snapped, and does'nt like my feet stomping on the ground. Any advice on correcting this behaiver or anything I can change with what I'm doing would be great. I still have trust for this dog and know this can be corrected. I've been working on correcting it by showing I control his food and basically him if that makes any scence.
  12. Yes I guess so but I got a good dog out of it.
  13. Ive owned 2 other staffies in the past and they became very loyal and loving pets, never had any issues with my last two which were both males and we'll trained and human and pet friendly. Bullet was a american/english staffy and Bandit was a pure english staffy with "papers". I am a responsiable owner just made a bad dission of bringing in another pup without thinking clear and not being ready for it. Sarge is fully vacinated heart wormed, wormed and registered, I've done everything right there. He has lately been interacting with people and other animals daily where ever we go and is being trained everyday by myself and partner. With the new pup, she is now with a family member of mine so problem solved. I dont get all the anger on this thread and what I'm doing wrong or what I have done wrong. I think I'm doing everything right and have shown responsiablity by keeping my dog in good health and socialising him so what's the problem exactly?????
  14. I'm planning on de-sexing Sarge now after I've read the benifits of it. What make's you think I'm not a responsible owner? Is it the fact I got another pup without thinking it over first or didn't buy a dog with pedigree for these money hungry breeders? $1500 for a pup with pedigrees. I dont care if he's cross pitty or not they were once the same breed, I'd take in any dog mixed or not papers or no papers. I have a good dog thats good with my family and thats all that matters to me. Didn't come on here to be judged, I cane here to get advice and any help I can get. Not weither my animals have papers and reading this in trouble in tye making and so on do what you do and I'lk do what I do.
  15. I got her off a guy that braught her off the breeder, I have been speaking to the breeder to get some back ground and info etc apparently she had papers but the guy I got her off lost them thats why he sold her cheap. I really want to keep her just have to have a long think about it before I make my dission this time, none of my family are willing to take her in due to working around the clock and wont have the time she needs, my cousin offered to buy her off me but he's never owned a dog and does'nt have a clue how to train and attend to their needs so thats a NO... And with the training I was thinking one on one at each time but I know once they're together that goes down the drain. I love dogs and most other animals maybe I should go work at a shelter instead of bringing in every dog I see lol. I use to breed birds of lots of types but got board with that now I've got more dogs, not sure if I want to breed not all that keen to, thinking of desexing but seems cruel, guess it stops unwanted litters though and more dogs ending up on death row. Stuck and would be greatfull for any advice if I was to keep both.
  16. Got a decent one of her. http://m.flickr.com/lightbox?id=9263902481
  17. This is her...last two pics are of her parents mother is the blue father is the brown. http://m.flickr.com/lightbox?id=9263802549 http://m.flickr.com/lightbox?id=9263823007 http://m.flickr.com/lightbox?id=9266614538 http://m.flickr.com/lightbox?id=9266622722 http://m.flickr.com/lightbox?id=9266626912 let me know what you guys think...
  18. Thats the way I've been looking at it ive had her for almost two days and its to full on, plus now I've got a door I need to patch up lol. If none of my family take her I'll have to sell her going to be abit hard for me to find a good home for her.
  19. Thinking of giving her to a family member that way she's kinda still mine.
  20. Yes he is lol. She is really bulky but small, looks younger then 11 weeks and have had problems already between the two of them sarge is deperite to get to her to play and the new one plays for abit with him but then starts going crazy on him attacking sarge goes back but still bites solf. This new pup never quits and is a gower. Might have to do something with them, think this time I jumped into things without thinking and I'd keep Sarge any day.
  21. Getting a 11 week old female amstaff tonight, I'll upload pics of her tonight or tomorrow
  22. I'll start doing that leave it for 5-10 minutes and if not eaten by then, then put it in the fridge. I took him out to thr park today, he loved it took the life out of me. We both done sprints, didn't let him loose off the lead though and he was happy to see every person he met. Since we got back home he has'nt moved lol thinks he's done for aswell.
  23. I'm in the Campbelltown area. My dog is alright with the toilet, when I go out to have a smoke he comes with me and goes everytime without fail, its that durring the nights when we're asleep he goes on the carpet, towls, his own bed and that lol. When it comes to me feeding him now he eats the tinyest bit and leaves the rest, it can take half the day for him to eat what was put in his bowl in the morning. When we first got him he would munch the food right down now he takes it slow and steady. I've also taught him to eat on command with sometimes helps when I dont think he has eaten enough. Today's the day I can start walking him, parks and all that good stuff he'll like :)
  24. How does or has everyone toilet trained there pups/dogs here? My pup lets us know he needs to go by sniffing at the back door but is'nt fully trained yet and does'nt use puppy pads most times when he does it inside. I'm looking for more methods to teach him. He's almost there but not completey. I went about it by just saying no when he went indoors and would attact a lead and take him out the back and when he went would reward him with pats and good boy lol. We sometimes wake up to messes on the carpet or when we're out. I have lost my cool with him a couple times and have yelled even know its my responcablity to teach him and go about it carmly. At one stage though it was really stressfull but not so much now. And thanks again in advance for any help, tips etc that I get :)
