  1. I am in Melb, and after the work and dinner, it is dark outside. so just my hubby does the walk with dog. Morning, if I could wake up at 6, and walk the dog and baby but at 6am, that is a problem for me we only walk the dog and baby in pram on weekend.
  2. because dogs ARE sensitive to noise- their ears pick up tiny sounds we cannot hear....and if he has nothing more exciting to do/smell/see...then he will bark. If he is alone in the yard while you are at work... yes, he possibly is bored. Do you walk him before you go out? Often this helps- a LONG on leash walk, with a session of obedience training will tire a dog out more than a rum around the park (one is WORK, one is play... work is more tiring/satisfying than play) What toys does he have to occupy him during the day? A long walk in the morning? could be help, but it can be really hard for us. We have a young baby, i look after baby in the morning, and send to Child care, and go to work. While hubby get up earlier to finish work earlier to pick baby up from Child care. We only walk the dog after dinner, while i am at home to care baby. my hubby walks dog. en, maybe toys, for quite a while, we did not update his toys. will do soon Thanks!!!
  3. My dog is Miniature Schnauzer, now 3 and half years old. He is a good dog in general, only the problem bother me is the barking sometimes. As a good watch dog, we like his barking when stranger approach to our house. however, if the neighbors (who lives besides, or at the back of our house) do some normal gardening close to the fense, the dog will bark to protect his territory. Sometimes, it could be anoyying. :D Every week, the rubish collection day, neighbors move the bins in and out of the yard, the dog barks. We do say "stop" or "ah ah", or call him back into the house. But it is not working 100%. ;) Not sure why he is that sensitive with the noise around him. Anything I can do? I don't want to anoy the neighbors and myself. Some of them are really nice people, and yes, they are not that young. I used to ask them if the dog bark a lot when we are not at home. The old couple next door said they like the noise, since the area is too quiet. BTW the dog does not bark 24-hours. :D Also they asked us not worry about that much. But another neighbou complain a lot, yes, that is the house my dog bark at the most, since they do a lot of gardening just behind the fense. I can see the plant shaking, or hear some sound another side of the fense. It is don't bother me, but the dog is very sensitive with that. Maybe the dog thought someone is trying to touch his territory? He could be bored, or just protect his territory. We take him off-leash running, playing soccer about half hour a day. During weekend, we have another park walking, off leash as well. All the activities are in the proper off leash park. I don't think all the dog owner can do this for their dogs. I am sure, most owner here will do for their lovely doggies. What we want to say is, we love our dog, we try to keep him fit and happy. And we will try to make him a good watching dog, but not that noisy dog? Any advice??
  4. When we walk my dog (Miniature Schnauzer, 1 year age boy) in a off leash park, he likes to play himself sometimes. He is so curious about everything, even it is the park we go everyday. When we try to call him back with "Come", it does not work well. he still keep doing his play. If there are other dogs, it becomes harder sometimes. ;) If the case is at our backyard, he comes back very fast, except he is playing tricks with us. Anyone has good idea, how i can recall him back when i need it. It is dangours especailly he run to the parking area. Thank You!

Thanks for everyone, unfortunately, i have never have a pet dog before. This time I want my onw one, daytime outdoor, night time sleep indoor. I will send it to puppy school with me, but as 1st dog, I will prefer a dog easier to train, and nature personality is kids friendly.
