  1. You ended up sending pup back? I was just admiring your cute boy in the other thread
  2. I did so many of those breeder selectors when I first started looking, and one of them did throw up a perfect match for us! I fell in love with Field Spaniels as soon as I saw them and our girl has been awesome. Loves to play with my 4 primary school kids, very friendly with everyone and everything, happy to walk for an hour or sleep and do nothing... not a lot of grooming, (I did not want the constant cleaning a white dog needs), she does shed a fair bit though. I did make sure in the quizzes that I put quite a few 'worst case scenario' answers. ie. less exercise than I intended etc just to cover the times I didn't have time...
  3. I feed Delta A La Carte dry food, with some beef or chicken, rice, egg, veg mixed in. She helps herself to apples off our tree lol
  4. I actually found my perfect breed in one of the online breed selectors. Can't remember which website it was, but I'd never heard of a Field Spaniel before and now we have one she is just perfect. I researched the breed for a good 18 months before committing, went to shows, met breeders, so I think as long as you use it as a starting point and go from there, some are helpful. You have to be very honest about what you want and how much you are going to put into your dog, and be prepared to consider the top 5 recommendations.
  5. Are you wanting to sell them cavNrott?
  6. Oh cool, thanks Gretel, I'll YouTube it :)
  7. I think we are due for a recent pic Eza?
  8. Thank you all, she is a field spaniel :) I do have a snood but I've realised it's not a very good one, is there a brand that people favour? I did put it on when I gave her a chicken neck this morning but she got it off with ease lol I might try the Road Refresher as she does like to kick her water bowl around the deck. I agree the volume isn't great, but I'm not out for long periods so can top up regularly. Thank you all so much xxx
  9. Hi Everyone, my puppy has long ears and I really need some water and food bowls that will keep her ears dry. Can anyone recommend some please, and where I may buy them? Thank you so much xx
  10. Hi All, Our pup is being flown to us from interstate and I was just after some tips, do's and don'ts so to speak. I know my breeder will let me know all the ins and outs, but I thought others may also have some suggestions and it will stop me bugging the breeder if I post on here :) Do you recommend I toilet pup after collection from airport before the drive home? Or should I wait until getting home? It's only an hour flight, so I'm hoping no more than a couple of hours in the crate... Also only a 20 min drive home from airport. What normally happens to the crate pup is flown in? Do I need to bring my own to transfer her to when I pick her up? I'm assuming the crate is owned by the transport company? What is normally put in the crate with the pup? And what paperwork should I expect to receive with her (and what should follow later?)? Anything I should request of the breeder? I'm happy to send him something to put in the crate if it will be helpful. Anything I should definitely do/not do when we pick her up? Pup is flying from Syd to Melb. Thanks for your replies and satisfying my curiosity, it's keeping me sane trawling here while we wait for her!
  11. Awesome! Looking huge in the washing basket lol
  12. Gorgeous! Look forward to hearing more about him :)
  13. Yep, we need more pics!
  14. K9 Pro, only about 30mins from you I believe. Steve and Huski are on here :)
  15. Oh congratulations! Love his one dark ear. So handsome. Great name. The naming is soooo hard!
  16. I can't remember which breed you are getting Eza?
  17. Thanks for the advice and pic Anne xx
  18. Lol DDD. She is a Field Spaniel, either liver or liver and tan, depending on temperament and which ones are going to show homes. Hopefully liver and tan :) Pups are only a week old. We have had our name on a waiting list for quite a while, can't believe it is actually happening. Still tossing around names... Over our long wait I have pretty much accumulated most things we will need, it just a few bits and pieces left and fingers crossed!
  19. Thank you both :) This is our first puppy, so I'm tending to overthink things lol
  20. Hi everyone! We are slowly getting closer to getting our puppy so I'm starting to plan. I'm a bit stuck about where to put the dog door. I have two options... 1. In the external laundry door. This will involve removing the screen door and replacing the laundry door with a wooden one (it is currently all glass). Our laundry leads to a small grassed area which is perfect, but the clothes line is also here. Our laundry is also located in a part of the house which I plan to block off initially when we get pup, so I can see problems down the track with access when I go out. 2. In the glass door leading to the deck. This side of the house leads to a large yard. I am a bit worried about pup having access to so much yard unsupervised (should I be concerned?), and if I put the door here it will be harder for me to contain pup inside as it's an open plan area. I'm very much a 'start as you wish to go on' person. I plan to use a puppy pen inside and also crate train. What is the best way to toilet train pup if I have to go out for a few hours? Leave her in the crate, or leave in the pen with some puppy pads/fake grass toilet? Do I only introduce her to the dog door once she is used to toileting outside? Also where would be the best place to put the crate and puppy pen? Do people put them in a quieter out-of-way place, or pop it where there is more foot traffic/kids playing to get pup used to the house noises? Thanks in advance for your responses, any advice appreciated xxx
