  1. In reply to questions about Parti Poodles, one of the big reasons for not being able to show this pattern is that the breed type runs a great risk of being lost to pretty colors/patterns. How many quality Red, Apricot and Silver poodles have been exhibited in the show ring in Australia? Not many. There have been a few good examples of the breed, but largely these colors are bred for the pet market. No reason why they should not be registered, but if you are serious about the breed, Type, Temperament and Health should be paramount. The quality in poodles of all sizes is still in black and white.
  2. This happens frequently. CCs are often awarded according to who the handler is, being a judge is very helpfull to success in the showring. If I do not like a judges opinion, I do not enter under that judge again. Group judging would never get finished if every exhibitor stopped to ask why their dog was non-awarded, the time for this is after group has finished.
  3. http://www.dogsvictoria.org.au/Portals/0/assets/members/bulla%20survey.pdf Have all Dogs Victoria members seen this survey on the website? This is a chance to let management know what we like or dislike and suggest changes.
  4. If it is hot enough for us to travel in airconditioned comfort, our dogs should too. Just remember the poor dog in Adelaide a few years back who died in a trailer in the heat.
  5. Should be first come first served, but be thoughtful of other exhibitors and leave a space between every couple of gazebos for people at the back to get through. I do think it wrong to charge a premium for a ringside spot.
  6. A lot of the Junior handling judging has been very poor, clubs are not always using accredited JH judges. They should be judging the handling, not going over the dogs or putting up the best dogs. If these wins are to count towards a top national JH, there should be conformity with judges. Love seeing the Tiny Tot classes at the country shows.
  7. And please, well endowed ladies should wear a good support bra.
  8. Best form of natural calcium for growing puppies. What would a dog be eating in the wild?
  9. As the original dog in the house, Donnie deserves to maintain his position in the pack. You can help this by giving him his food before the new pup and make sure they have their own place for their food bowls and beds. They should sort themselves out, providing that the new pup is not dominant. Try not to give too much attention to the pup in front of Donnie.
  10. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Poodles are a coated breed and need to be shown with some coat, a poodle in full show clip is a magnificent sight! The continental trim is traditional and shows off the poodle's beautifully muscled rear end. It is no different to any shortcoated breed viewed from the backend. If you want to talk about fugly, look at the some of the brachycephalic breeds.
  11. The GSD Clubs have worked so hard to improve the quality of their dogs and eliminate hip dysplasia, it is understandable why indescriminate breeding is discouraged. Just because a dog has good breeding lines does not mean they are breeding quality. I would be attending a GSD breed survey and getting an expert opinion about the bitch, then doing relevant health testing. Back in the 70's this breed was nearly ruined by backyard breeders breeding bad hips and bad temperaments.
