  1. Could those who have done it before please confirm that you don't need to keep it chilled? Also, is it whole blood that's sent?
  2. hmm when I try to renew the password it says "User name doesn't exist" I guess it must be a problem with the number.
  3. Thank you for the reply. I'm copy/pasting from the original email so it should be the right number. I'm trying to log in because I lost my card so I can't double check the number. I'll give them a call.
  4. Just wondering if its a known problem or if its just me? I've still got the registration email from a year ago so I'm pretty sure I'm using the right password and correct membership number. Any ideas?
  5. Since when is having a baby an excuse for neglect? It's often one of the excuses I hear. The people who don't neglect their dogs manage to plan to clip their dogs short at 8 months preggers giving them a couple of months of easy care when the baby is young. People need to stop allowing "having a baby" to be an excuse for everything. It takes a few minutes to drop a dog off at a groomers and a few minutes to pick it up. Plan it and cope or find a family or friend to help!
  6. The "no money" excuse never flies with me. Everyone has a pair of scissors and a brush for their own hair. They're free to use.
  7. Is that like a car shammy? Car shammies work great at sucking water out of the coat too. They just need a really good wash before you use them on the dogs. I really dont envy your bathing job!
  8. I have no experience with this system but was wondering what your process is when you wash all the dogs? Have you tried washing one, putting it in a crate with a box fan positioned to blow on the dog, wash the next, box fan it, continue with the others until they are all washed and then start drying (poodles first due to the curly coat). The box fan ($20 from Bunnings, Kmart etc) circulates the air but given its got no heat there is no danger of the dogs over heating. It can cut drying time down a fair bit. That's if normally you wash one, dry it, wash the next, dry it etc etc.
  9. I wouldn't be using water that has been sitting around over night let alone for a month. Tap water isn't distilled water and has bacteria growing in it. Add a heater to the mix and nasties grow. Your bath is barely getting used in comparison to mine. Mine is used more in two days than you do in a year. Perhaps that is why you haven't found a problem yet? I think I've talked myself fully into the single tank now. I use the hot/cold taps to fill the bath anyway. Thanks everyone!
  10. Thanks 4 Paws. I did that a couple of days ago but I haven't heard anything back yet so thought I might ask here as well. There is no drain on the tank and you cant empty it properly by using the pump. If the little bit of water sits in there (say over the weekend) it gets very funky. From the sounds of it, it now has a drain on this tank which would make it a lot easier but I would still be wanting to scrub it out. I dont use this water to rinse anyway....so it might be better for me just not to have the enclosed tank in the 2nd bath.
  11. Thanks alpha bet. It sounds pretty close to my current one then. Is the enclosed tank made out of the same plastic as the bath? Mine isn't. I find the enclosed tank very very VERY hard to clean which is why I was thinking of getting a single tank this time. I think they have added a plug to this tank now which at least means you can drain it fully rather than having to stuff a towel in it to soak any left over water up.
  12. By any chance, does anyone have the new model of their hydrobaths? It says they have changed the twin tank moulding. If so are you able to post a photo of what it looks like under the removeable floor? I am in the market of buying a second one. I was thinking of just getting a single tank one this time but maybe they have changed the twin tank for the better. Mine is a bit beaten up...I'm thinking of using my dremel to try to buff the scratches out (caused by the removeable metal floor, which I think they have now changed too) but I'm not quite brave enough yet...
  13. Angelina if you are a regular she may have been holding a spot for you anyway. I do that for a few good customers that I know when they will want the dog done (even if they dont know yet)
  14. Ring Liberty up, explain the problem and send it in for a service. Something just might be loose. Mines hit the dirt a couple of times.
  15. Could be worse though. Our hairdressers computer crashed a couple of weeks back and they lost all their appointments!! I can just imagine the abuse they are getting
  16. Thankfully my phone has settled down the last few days. I dont advertise and any of my usual customers know not to bother calling now! However 4 dogs turned up 30 minutes late today. grrrrr These people are regulars too and should know better! Yes I know its Christmas, Yes I know Christmas time is busy for everyone but its Christmas for us too you know!!
  17. My stand dryer needs the brushes replaced on average every 6 mths.
  18. What is the skin issue? That will make a difference to taking your own shampoo or not.
  19. dont panic. You've checked and they sound fine!
  20. It does sound like cold tail. My dog was better in 24 hours after being given an anti-inflamm tablet. Have you checked his anal glands to make sure you didn't burst anything?
  21. I was wondering how Beau was going a couple of days ago but couldn't remember your user name. I'm glad its getting better. It still looks pretty sore though.
  22. http://www.groomers.net/discus/messages/91...html?1180272326 eta: this one works
  23. Here you go....a thread about it http://www.groomers.net/cgi-bin/discus/discus.cgi? The ones with the picket fence at the front is the one I was thinking about. eta: arg the link wont work...If you follow the link above, then click on General Groomers Chat and then The Frugal Groomer the link is called "Cubbies for holding dogs" I'll try to get the whole link for you
  24. Will you end up constantly having to untangle the dog? Some of these dogs aren't too bright about not tangling their legs up. I dont know....I think its a nice idea for the owners but I can just see stupid dogs tangling themselves up (even on a short lead) and barking all the time because they think they should be able to walk off the edge. Plus what if a dog accidently got loose and ran straight up to another dog. The dogs I had today would have eaten each other if they didn't have their crates. They knew they couldn't get to each other so they just slept instead. I remember seeing a set up a few years ago where the dogs had a cosy pen. No roof which probably made the owners feel better. I'll try to find the photo. You'd need a lot more floor space though.
