  1. Congratulations. I too went to the Million Paws walk on Sunday and came home with an extra set of paws, Smokie, my beautiful new cross Bichon-Blue Heeler boy.
  2. My dogs sit on top of the couch looking out window for me to return. I'm a bit worried they've been looking out the window for the last four weeks.
  3. I moved up to Queensland from Victoria four weeks ago. I have two Jack Russells that I had to leave behind with friends. I had to drive up and went with a friend. We were staying in hotels and so I couldn't take my dogs with me. I am flying down in a couple of weeks to get them. I am missing them like crazy. I was wondering whether they would be missing me too. I would have much more peace of mind if I knew they were fine without me.
  4. Just over two years ago I got my two adorable Jack Russell puppies. Just after I got them I noticed on a lot of dog forums and elsewhere people saying that getting two dogs at the same time is a bad, even a dangerous idea. Where did this idea come from? My dogs, who are from a different litter, get along so well with each other. Like any siblings they occasionally squabble but they adore each other. So, where did this idea that it was bad to get two dogs at once come from? I think my dogs have well and truly debunked the theory.
  5. Excuse my ignorance but what is BARF? I feed them half a cup of Pedigree puppy dry food and a few spoonfuls of tinned food at night. My boy dog is outside during the day and my girl dog is in her crate as she escapes the fence. She never soils her crate. I take her outside as soon as I get home around 5 then every two hours after that until I go to bed. I take her outside in the morning as soon as I get up then before I go to work. I always treat her when she goes outside.
  6. I have two Jack Russell puppies that are eight months old. The boy dog is well and truly house trained and has been for a few months. The girl dog is just not getting it. She gets the part that if we go outside and she goes then she gets a treat but she doesn't get that means that she doesn't go inside. the thing is too I think she does know she is doing the wrong thing as she never goes in the house when I am looking so she obviously knows it is wrong. The other thing that is grossing me out is that when my girl dog does a poo the boy dog will often eat it. Is there any way to stop this. I want to puke sometimes. :D

He's a Jack Russell about four months old. I'll give the breeder a call and see what she says.

I've only had him about three weeks but I am socialising them as much as possible.
  9. My dog tries to dig my arm. I'll just be sitting there in my arm chair and she'll come along and make digging actions into my arm. I don't know what she's expecting to find. Bones maybe? :D

    Nervous Puppy

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. He'll take the treat most times, sometimes he won't. I'll just leave him under the table until he comes out on his own terms if he doesn't. He's about four months old.
  11. My puppy most of the time is friendly and happy for me to pet him but every now and again he seems to get nervous and will retreat under the table for no apparent reason and not let me near him. He's not aggressive, just very shy. Is this normal?
  12. My apologies. The breeder who sold them to me told me they were eight weeks old. I just checked their health certificate and it turns out that they are 12 weeks old. Not sure why she would tell me that they are 8 weeks old.
  13. Well actually they're about nine weeks old. They had their 2nd vaccinations a couple of days before I got them. Where did you get these pups? Did they come with a vaccination certificate? Edit: as has been stated, 8 week old pups do NOT need to be taken for walks. Apart from the risks of parvo, natural play in their own yard is plenty of exercise. Yes they did come with a vaccination certificate. They are due for their third one on the 28th of Jan.
  14. Well actually they're about nine weeks old. They had their 2nd vaccinations a couple of days before I got them.
  15. She's actually had two vaccinations. I did ask somewhere else if 8 weeks was old enough and the response was that was fine but I'll wait a little while longer, at least til she's had her third vaccination.
  16. I tried to take one of my 8 week old JRTs for her first walk today. She has no trouble with the lead but as soon as we got into the front yard she lay down on her belly and didn't want to go any further. I tried picking her up and carrying her out down the street a bit but as soon as I put her down she dropped to her belly again. Is this usual and how do I overcome it?
  17. Thanks for the replies. I am happy for them to sleep on the bed as a long term thing so I guess from the advice that I should continue to allow them.
  18. I have two new Jack Russell puppies, a boy Jack and a girl Bella, both eight weeks old. I have had them for a week. Every night they have slept on my bed. They are well-behaved when on the bed. I am also making them wait til I give them the all-clear before they get up and tell them when to get down. Is is ok for me to let them sleep on the bed or is this just going to create trouble later on?
  19. Thanks for the replies. Will look into the one at Morwell.
