  1. They look to have very open coats, which wouldn't be weather resistant. Not that I can talk my girl is butt naked at the moment
  2. This link should take you through to the September 2011 Gazette
  3. If you google Dogs Victoria and then click on one of the results such as "Members Area" you can then get through to the other menus.
  4. I took my GSD bitch into the vets a few months ago because I thought that she bloated. She wouldn't eat her dinner(very unusual) and she had a swollen tummy. My vet said that if she was bloated her stomach would be very hard and when you tapped it, it would sound hollow. Rumour must have helped herself to the bag of dry food in the kitchen. Vet also didn't charge me (8pm) just sent me home feeling silly
  5. To explain the health benefits to feeding a premium food.
  6. I'm looking for an information pamphlet on Premium foods Vs Non Premium foods to give to clients. If anyone has anything like this I would love to get a copy. Thanks
  7. I use a Spinal Vet Dr Ian Bidstrup, who specialises in chiropractic and acupuncture work in both dogs and horses. I have been using Ian for at least 15 years for my horses and dogs. He mainly works out of Seymour and Kilmore. http://www.spinalvet.com.au/
  8. Sorry but I am sick of farmers complaining about the death of stock to dogs, dingos and foxes. What are they doing to protect them? Why are farmers not embracing livestock guardian dogs such as the maremma sheepdog? I have stopped and photographed paddocks with upto a hundred lambs and ewes slaughtered. I put a note in the farms letter box giving them the contact details of my maremma's breeder. I was talking to a farmer last weekend who has had 4 maremmas over the last 20 years for his goats, he went from a 99% kid loss to 100% success rate.
  9. Hi Poodlefan, Is there some place I can go to find this legislation? I would like to be able to quote it. Thanks Here's a code of practice for breeders made under the Vic Animal Cruelty Act Ask her how she'd feel about being convicted of a cruelty charge for breeding without health testing. Thank you

  12. Sending your boy back to the breeder sounds like it would be best for your boy. It is very stressful for a male dog to have a bitch in season right under his nose. My boy would stop eating, scrath up wooden doors, howl and even try and jump through glass windows and doors.
  13. I have always groomed my aussie pups the same as I would an adult. I am a fan of Plush Puppy so I use their "Herbal Whitening Shampoo/Ginseng" on their whites and for the body "Natural BodyBuilding Shampoo/Wheatgerm". On the day of the show I dampen the leg hair then use Wella Kolestral as a pre-chalker and then I use a fine white chalk to coat the white leg hairs. To do this I use a small slicker brush (my fav is Lawrence Tendercare Tiny). I then brush the leg hair up and hairspray (TRESemmé is preferred as it doesn't flake). Slicker up the legs again to get the chalk out and fluff before going in the ring. I use Bio-groom Super Foam to fluff up the coat on the day. I also use PP volumising cream diluted with water in a spray bottle. I lightly spray this over the coat getting it right down to the roots, then I back brush(against the growth of the hair) using a pin brush. This is also great to use while blow drying. Trimming is done to ears and feet, tidy up hocks but not too short, and sometimes pasterns if the dog lacks feathering. Here is a great website for Grooming Your Aussie I use a fine plaited kangaroo leather lead in purple, silver and white on my blue merle and a jewellers link chain. Make sure you keep all training fun and don't over train your pup. Most of my training is done in the kitchen using treats. Good luck with your new pup.
  14. I always think the same thing. I've got 16 lovely ladies who are totally useless at anything chook-ish....I get one egg a day between the lot of them if I'm lucky, so maybe a dog and poultry show is their thing. Cos laying eggs certainly isn't. It's called bait
