  1. at Cairns Shows we are allowed to set up the night before but on one previso....WE MUST ASSIST the committee in set up of all equipment and rings and roof awning.... at 5pm, once done they are happy for us to rope off, or put up gazebos...works really well for the most with everyone having cheery smiles etc on their dials....however at a few shows there are those that rope off enough area to have their own sheep station....still considrate enough though to leave gaps for trolleys etc..maybe there is something to be said for us country bumpkin lot..we do for the most try to be fair to each other....on the issue of KCC and BULLA if the rules say NO SET UP there should be NO SET UP..use non-tamperproof stickers to mark the offending property hopefully they do a skerrik of embarrassment left to not do it again....have mental picture though of gazebos looking like ticker tape parades lol...

  2. Hi - I heard earlier today that apparently the requirements for a Grand Champion are being changed back to the old system and that there is going to be a new title called a Supreme Grand which will require 10 BIG or BIS (can't remember the details as it was a rushed conversation) - apologies if I've missed this elsewhere, I did a quick search but I'm completely useless at searching.

I would like to see this happen before any more changes or introductions of new styles of awards etc...JUDGES that will honor what they are signing.."I am clearly of the opinion that this dog is of such OUTSTANDING merit to be WORTHY of the title of Australian Champion" seems to me so much garbarge is awarded with no second thought as to a standard and in many cases with obvious genetic issues...and I flip out when I hear a judge say " oh but it is the country better award these dogs here"...anyways just my little bit of angst on the situation .... :curtsey::curtsey:

  3. I took mine to the Condo circuit.

Weather was chilly at 5am and at 8:30pm so it came in handy for walking the dogs then.

Weather was too warm & sunny to wear most days during the circuit.

I did wear it to the fun nights at the caravan park though.

    BB

was chilly billy at Ingham also on the weekend..jacket was out and about after the sun went down..

  5. Portable Generators and their use by DOGS Victoria

    members

The use of portable electrical generators by DOGS

Victoria members has become prevalent in recent times

and there is a need to set out minimum standards for

    their use.

Members must follow the requirements below which will

allow reasonable use and avoidance of disturbance to

    others.

    * Generators must not be used indoors or in partially

enclosed areas, to avoid risk of CO gas inhalation

    which can prove lethal.

    * A fire extinguisher or fire blanket is required to be

available for use by the user.

    * Connection to the appliance(s) must be by a heavy

duty outdoor-rated electrical extension cord at least

equal to the sum of the connected appliance loads

with a minimum rating of 15 amps.

    * Generators must be a minimum of three metres from

the appliance(s) and cable length must not exceed

five metres. Cable must be tagged and rated.

    * A cable trap must be used to avoid any hazard to the

general public walking in the vicinity.

    * Generators may not be used in wet weather or on wet

ground. When re-fuelling the generator it must have

first been allowed to cool. Hot engine parts are

hazardous to spilled fuel. No stored fuel may be left in

the immediate area of the generator.

    * Users must be aware of the potential for disturbance

by noise and/or fumes to others around the vicinity

and where nuisance is created, the generator may

be required to be shifted or shut down. The VCA

representative is empowered to issue such

    requirement.

    * In all cases the onus is on the user to avoid any

disturbance to others and to use the generator in a

safe and sensible manner. At a Glance

  7. For those that have experience with both which is the best or are they both around the same quality of care etc...?

Just had my tzu go through Melbourne....no complaints about staff and their dedication...knowledge in some areas perhaps..and of course the station is clean but very delapidated......for the dollars charged one would expect better conditions....oh and of course there are the rabbits (lol)

  8. But my favourite this year was for my mothers chinese crested... "oohh i dont think i can touch that... it probably feels like a shavved nut sack..."

gotta love the royals LOL :mad

Well, there went my old keyboard. Just doesn't like the coffee sprayed all through it's innards.

    :D :( ;)

;):cheer: dont know which comment I am laughing about more...nut sack and mental picture of the coffee spray ...
  9. was in Thailand at an ALL Breeds Show and they had a Thai Ridgeback Specialty on at the same time...on mass these were a very impressive breed. The judge is not to place their hands on the dogs and they must be judged by eye only. All these dogs whilst well behaved for the breed on the day, are animals that should be treated with the utmost respect. The majority of them showed agression which is apparently part of the required attitude of the breed. Had a long discussion with breeders at the show, and they stated that the dog should be under firm control, and the more agressive they are the better the point system for them when being judged. Merits of this breed are that they are excellent guard dogs, but heaven forbid if the wrong people get hold of these dogs...we will be reading about attacks by the dozen in the newspapers. So in my limited knowledge of the breed, I just dont see the necessity of this breed in the average backyard, what its benefit to us would be.
