  1. Unfortunately laws only seem to work for the law abiding citizens. Limited resources for policing laws means the unlawful have no real restraints.
  2. Thanks guys. I think I will go with the KM-2. ;)
  3. Hi Just a question about the Wahl dog clippers. I would like to purchase a set to do some home clipping for maltese/shih tzu X. What is the difference between the KMSS and the KM-2 clippers, besides price. Also which clipper would Dolers recommend. Cheers ;)
  4. I use revolution on my guys the best pricing on internet sales I have found is on this site www.aussiepet.com.au :D
  5. tramissa there te type of stories I've heard. So what would you do if you did have to board her.
  6. Normally if baby teeth were retained and were solid you would imagine it would be quite painful to extract them without some type of anaesthetic. It's not something you should try to do on the kitchen table with pliers.
  7. I am biased to Cavies because my best friend is one. But I also think that a toy poodle would be a great choice. I am also very fond of poodles as we had them when I was growing up. Not only are they extremely intelligent and easily trained they are also not the amby bamby type dog that some people think they are. If your boyfriend is happy with a poodle I'd run with it.
  8. I have heard some horror stories about the C5 vaccination and that the vaccination schedule overall is ecessive. Has anyone had any personal experience with contraindications of C5. The reason I am asking is that I have been reluctant to give my guys the C5 due to stories heard and then recently enquired about boarding and was told that it was a mandatory requirement for borading establishments. So if you want to board your dog you have to risk giving the C5.
  9. I have been feeding Nutro to my 2 for the past 3 months. Since I started on Nutro my CKCS's coat has improved 100% +. Pirior to Nutro it was dull, flaky and itchy now it is soft and flowing. I too live in the country so Nutro stockist is 7 hours round trip. Why go anywhere 4 paws and more provide a delivery to door for a very reasonable price, far cheaper than if you actually lived in Melbourne and was picking up yourself. As far as cost goes, Nutro lasts a lot longer than many other foods and really you need to break it down to a per day cost to truely understand the value. I'm still on my first bag.
  10. Just wondering what the most popular choice of food is. :D
  11. Just remain consistent and things will work themselves out. It is common for relapses in training - toileting included. At least the weather is getting warmer.
  12. No he doesn't see where the noise is coming from but it doesn't matter what the noise is, I think it's just the suddeness of it. Even if one of the other dogs barks suddenly at something he has the same response. I just hope we don't have to many fire work exhibitions or thunder storms. I will have a go at making some sudden loud noises in front of him with a support team and see how he goes.
  13. Thanks Malleerr, he is my daughters pup and she was doing just that. The minute he ran hiding she would pick him up and cuddle him. I told her not to do this in future because she was re-enforcing the behaviour. I suggested to her that she should ignore his nervousness and start doing something conpletely different like roll around the floor laughing and playing with our other dog or something. What do others think? Edited for sp.
  14. Need some help with our 11 week old maltese puppy. He is a very outgoing puppy but if there is a sudden loud noise - for example someone drops a plate or a door slams he jumps up and runs and hides, regardless of what he is doing at the time. How do I go about desensitising him so that he doesn't have such a reaction or will he grow out of it.
  15. My Kelpie x is double coated and I use an under coat rake on him this time of year. I find it the only way to go and only takes a couple of minutes. Surely your parents can spare a few minutes. Keep the rake handy and just grab it whenever there is a spare moment. I keep mine on the back verandah near the outdoor setting and whenever I sit outside hiding from the kids I spend a few minutes brushing. I collect all the hair and pop it in the bin - 5 minutes work at the most. It is only a matter of getting into the habit of thinking about it.
  16. My CKCS suffers from allergies and usually start by chewing at his legs. My routines is I ensure that his flea treatment is always up to date, he has a teaspoon of flaxseed oil (excellent source of Omgea 3) and a couple of times a week I mix some sardines into his food. He is washed with a oatmeal shampoo when he requires washing and I aslo use Quititch a medicated wash for those itchy times. I have also started him on Nutro Lamb and Rice dry food and his coat condition seems to have improved. I will keep my finger crossed.
  17. Hi flycow and others out there that may know, I do not know how the probiotics can be effective in a dry dog food. I was under the impression thatfor probiotics to be effective they needed to be a live bacterial cultures. How can this be so in a dried food with limited available water and also exactly what bacterial species are we talking about.
  18. I have had my crew on Nutro for a month now and I can already see a difference in their coats. The Nutro is also very palatable - my guys love it. I am from country Victoria and had my bag delivered by courier form 4 paws and more pet supplies which I will continue to do. Perhaps if there is not a supplier close by to you then courier delivery may be an option. With the petrol prices the way they are it's probaby cheaper.
  19. Often it can be a combination problem due to the environment in the ears it is great for the production of yeast, bacteria and ear mites all able to thrive in a concurrent relationship within the ear. I would suggest that you have the ear swabbed and thye content diagnosised microscopically so that you know what you are treating. perhaps you may need to treat a couple of conditions. Once under control you will then be able to maintain the ears in good health by using a regular cleaning regime using something like epi otic or similiar.

    Wandering

Hi RobynBat, We also live on a property and I am sure our dogs would go visiting if we didn't restrict them. We have erected a fence made from wooden poles and wooden rails top and bottom with chicken wire as the main body of the fence. This provides a secure backyard type area from the back of the house to however you want the fencing to finish and then the dogs can only wander the property when we are with them and they are being supervised.
  21. After reading through all the posts from start to finish I was crying (Happy tears) I just love happy endings. Congrats on your babbies oh so cute.
  22. I have a one year old tri boy. I agree with ellz. The only way to train a young pup (regardless of breed) is to take him/her outside the minute he wakes up and be watching all the time. As soon as the pup stops jumping around and sniffs the floor even if it is only once, out you go, if the pup has a drink out you go, if the pup wakes from a sleep out you go. There can be no hesitation as the pup like with all training needs consistency to understand the rules. At the moment it is a bit of hit and miss therefore he really doesn't know he is doing anything wrong, certainly he is not angry with you. Please don't leave him outside all of the time Cavies are definitely inside dogs.
