  1. Thanks. I have the bug now. Will do moorabin and then probably geelong again if I can get the kids looked after.
  2. We got 86/100 in the first trial :) Pretty happy with that score for my first trial ever!! Second trial Billy decided it was crap - literally. I had been trying to get him to go all morning, and made sure i didn't feed him before we left. I stopped for coffee on the way and he ate 2 banana's I had in my bag. Obviously they decided to come out in the second trial - in the ring. Oops!! 3rd trial I scratched him. The rain was quite heavy by then and I couldn't even get him to sit ringside, so there was no point setting him up to fail. All in all we had a great day. Everyone was so lovely, helpful and supportive (very different from showing!). I think Moorabin will be our next one :)
  3. Awesome thanks. Yeah I am a worry wart too, and it's going to take me about 2.5hrs to get there, so will be leaving at the crack of dawn lol. I've done a little work on his downs today and he is getting quicker - he really is just a sooky lala. It's all good experience regardless of the result - for both of us :)
  4. Can someone tell me what 'check in' is. Is it just to mark off that you are there, or is there another reason??
  5. Thanks :) I have the signs saved on my phone lol (nerd much). I quite often flick through them and make sure we can do them all. His downs are a tad on the slow side at the moment (grass is cold and he is a sook) but if I bend down with the hand signal he will go down slowly - do you think I will get penalised for that?? We are 19th in, which is going to be a huge help being able to watch others go through it first. Rescue remedy for me I reckon lmao.
  6. Eek! Billy dog and I have our first Rally O trials this weekend. 3 trials in one day. I am crapping my pants. Any words of advise appreciated. :)
  7. Welcome to the team Karma :) First show is in a couple of weekends.
  8. Hi. I'm the Suz that was mentioned above. My boy, Billy a purebred Staffordshire bull terrier has become a very reliable seizure alert dog for my daughter - now 3.5yrs old. He first started alerting us when she was still a baby. She was asleep in her bed the first time he did it. Started yapping and howling at her door and we couldn't work out why. He was running from the door and out to us (in the lounge room). We opened the door to her room and he layer at the foot of her bed just moaning, then 10 minutes later she had a seizure. He has continued to alert us and we now own his daughter (4.5mths), who is also showing signs of being able to alert us too. He has not had any formal training, they just grew up together. She has had seizures from about 3mths of age and continues to get them, just less frequently now that she has had a shunt put in. He allows us to be able to move her to a safe place and watch her so that she isn't injured in anyway. I can also tell if she is sick as he will cling to her.
  9. The pic the vet sent me after her op Billy and Spirit, day before her op. Waiting to make sure she didn't have any neuro issues.
  10. Hey there, She went really well. She had her stitches out yesterday too. She is winging a little (throwing her leg out to walk) which we are hoping will come good once she has recovered a little more. Got the ok to start the underwater treadmill too, and can have 5 mins walks on lead. She is so funny, I take her outside on lead to go to the toilet and she does her toileting and then tries to do the bolt. I think she is secretly hoping that one day that lead won't be attached. When she get to the end of the lead she throws a tantrum and plays dead and I have to go and pick her up. Funny girl. I have attached her post op xray, and am just trying to resize the other couple :)
  11. Does anyone know the person that was selling the show leads at the shows over the sporting terrier/june long weekend?? She was next to the cav speciality. I paid her for a lead and gave her my email address but haven't heard from her, and I can't find her contact details. If anyone can help, much appreciated.
  12. She is doing really well. She is weight bearing already. We have our 1wk post op appointment tomorrow morning, and our first physio session. She is a little down on her pastern on the good foot, but I am thinking that is because of the over compensating, but will talk to the physio girls tomorrow. Her wound is looking great, nice and dry. So all in all its going really well. The hardest part is keeping her confined and entertained, and dealing with a very sooky Billy dog because he isn't allowed to play with her. I will update again when we get back from South Paws tomorrow :)
  13. Thanks Cosmolo, What sort of things would you mainly suggest for her. I am already looking at things to keep her mind active and she is getting lots of social interaction, exposed to different noises etc.
  14. Thanks everyone. She is home with us now, and is in her crate. She has to go back in a week, and she can then start physio and in 2wks she can start hydro with the underwater treadmill. She is to be confined for 4-6wks and re xray in 8 weeks. They said because she is young it will heal quicker. Luckilly I am a stay home mum, so I can at least be with her most of the time and try and keep her mind active.
  15. Just thought I would update that the op went well today. It didn't go as planned. Charles was going to do keyhole using fluoroscopy, but ran into probs, so had to go in to get the pieces back together. It was Y fracture, so she has 2 pins and a screw. Can not fault South Paws. The care has been brilliant and they even sent me a photo to my phone to show that she was up and awake and being very brave.
  16. Thanks. I wasn't sure with the fact that they are still growing as to whether it's needed to replace etc. Appreciate the first hand info
  17. Thanks everyone :) Ellz - did u have to have the plates replaced as the pup grew or was it just one plate??
  18. Thanks thundercat :) Luckily she is already crate trained, so that is a ginormous bonus to her recovery. I have heard wonderful things about Charles Kuntz, and have also attended a lecture he did and he is extremely knowledgeable in everything. Thanks Persephone, I have been doing a fair bit of research today and the treatment seems to have a lot of success, and as you said being younger is a good thing also. Edited to make it make sense cause I haven't had any sleep.
  19. My 15wk old stafford puppy had an unfortunate accident last night resulting in a broken humerus. She has been given pain meds and has a fentanyl patch on until she is seen and operated on tomorrow by Charles Kuntz. Just wanting to know if anyone else has had this injury occur in their dog, what the treatment was, how was it managed and what was the recovery like. Thanks in advance.
  20. What time does judging start!? I can't find my book.
