  1. How true? My parent-in-law feeds their German Shepherd X leftovers from their meals with some supermarket dry food. She is 13 years old now and still as strong as an ox.
  2. Thanks Kavik, I trained her on grass surface today and she was fine. But in saying that, I put her in a drop stay position for only about a minute and abit at a time as I do not want to push her too much at this time. Thanks dogdude, that is a good point. Today, I tried to use a treat to lure her and also gently roll her over to her hip before I gave the stay command. I tried that a few times. Hopefully, she will soon automatically drop to a "side saddle" position soon. I realized that she always do a side saddle drop if she does it on her own.
  3. Hello All, Is any of you feeding V.I.P. Petfoods Rolls to your dogs? What do you think of them? I don't usually like petfood rolls from supermarket. But I saw their TV advertisement yesterday and it says that V.I.P. Petfoods Rolls are all natural and there are no preservatives. I bought a roll yesterday to try out. I fed my dog some yesterday with her usual Eagle Pack Dry kibbles and she loves it. I just want to make sure that it is as good as it seems. Thanks
  4. Thanks persephone and Erny!!! The vet checked her hips and elbows during her 16 weeks vaccination and he said they are all good then. She only limps for a few seconds after I released her and she is back to running like normal. But I might get her check out again. Erny, I trained her to drop by "luring". Initially, I put a treat in my hand, place the treat in front of her nose and gently brings it down. Now I just have to give the command drop with my hand moving vertically down and she will drop.
  5. The sphinx position, is it what that is called? Now that you mentioned it, it does like one She only drops into the relaxed position on her own but never on command When I give her the "stay" command, she just remain in her sphinx position until I release her.
  6. Hello All, Just a quick question, my Doberman puppy currently close to 6 months old drops in a very uncomfortable position i.e. her hind legs are bended like in a squatting position. Sometimes, her chest will be floating from the ground and when I re-enforce the drop command, she will go down completely. Today, I made her drop stay for 2 minutes and after I released her, she was limping. She must have tried really hard to be in the drop position I am very hesitant to give her the drop command after that. Have any one of you experienced this situation? How can I re-train her to drop in a more comfortable position? Thanks in advance
  7. Thanks for your response Haven't seen it in our other 2 dogs so was getting worried
  8. Hello Everyone, We found a lump on top of my dog's neck (near the shoulder blade) a week after her last puppy vaccination. We ring the vet today and the vet nurse/receptionist said that it is normal and commented that the dog must have moved when the needle is in her. She advised us to massage the lump and it should go away about 5 days later. Is this true? Thanks
  9. Hello BelgianPup, No, you don't need to know someone to join. The training is open to all breeds.
  10. This thread is really helpful as we are also looking for a club in that region for my 17 weeks old pup. It helps to narrow down our options We are considering between Berwick Obedience Club and Rottweiler Club of Victoria. Through this forum, I read alot of positive feedback about the Rottweiler Club. They train on Wednesday evenings and open to all breeds :D We will bring our pup to visit after 10 days of her last vaccination. Berwick Obedience Club only takes in new members on the first Saturday of every month but we might pop by to visit later.
  11. I use Clicker most of the time but since there isn't this option, I choose the closest which is the first one.
  12. Eagle Pack for Large Breed Pup is the very good We are feeding our Dobe pup with it now. We use to feed our Goldie Supercoat, IAM and Proplan. IMO, feeding him Proplan cause him to shed lesser
  13. Hahaha, this "sit command" hand signal is what I use for the "stand command". When training her, it just happens so naturally that I decided to stick to it.
  14. May I ask where did you buy it from? Thanks
  15. We have an 11m lead from Black Dog .. google them as they have a site. I know they also have for big dogs too.. not the cheapest though. Thanks, I found their site They only sell the 11m lead with a small and medium snaps. Not sure if the medium one is strong enough for a large dog.
  16. Thanks for the idea. I will start looking in that direction too
  17. Hello All, I am looking for a 10m long lead for a large dog. Where can I buy it from? Thanks
  18. Thanks for the point on the vaccination. I forgot about that.
  19. Hello, I would like to know if it is ok to bring a 14 weeks old large breed pup for a swim in a dog pool. Are there any benefits of doing so? Or are there any risks involved? Thanks
  20. I would keep her on it permanantly if she's doing well on it to start with. Bot the super premium and the holistic are excellent foods for dogs. Supplement with raw chicken pieces (necks, frames, wings etc) and raw meaty bones and you have a first class diet for the rest of the dogs life. Yup, that is what we thought too We feed Eagle Pack Super Premium in the mornings & evenings and give her a chicken frame or neck in the afternoon.
  21. Thanks for your replies. Mine is ok with corn. She likes both Holistic and Super Premium so we might stick to Super Premium after we finish the Holistic bag since it is cheaper.
  22. Hello, To all those who feed their dogs Eagle Pack either now or before, what is the difference between the Holistic and Super Premium range? My pup had "knuckling over" some time back and I read on the website advising to feed her Eagle Pack Super Premium till she gets better. It has been about 2 weeks now and she is now all good. Before, we fed her a raw diet with Eagle Pack Holistic as supplement. Why do we have to feed her Super Premium and not Holistic? Isn't Holistic suppose to be better since it is more expensive? Thanks :D
