  1. Thankyou for your replies. She is in Victoria and has tried the rescue groups but has never been selected, which is a shame because any dog that she adopted would be for the rest of its life. She is looking for a puppy or a young dog. We grew up with terriers so she knows how full on they can be.
  2. Hi I haven`t posted for a long time. Three months ago I had to put my Lucky to sleep I still keep thinking he is waiting to come inside, he was 14. The reason for my post is my sister also had her 14 year old dog put to sleep so sad, she is now ready to adopt another dog. She is looking at Tenterfield Terriers. Her previous dog was a very quiet corgi cross. She is home all day and would give the dog regular exercise and it would spend the majority of it`s time inside. She was also thinking of a shitzu x (which she has had before). How do you know if you are buying from a puppy farm? backyard breeder? She has tried going through rescue groups but hasn`t found a suitable dog. Thanks
  3. Lucky had his dental surgery today, three teeth removed, ears checked and they also clipped his nails, it is a job I dislike because his nails are black and I can`t see the quick not to mention how much he fidgets. All up it cost $500 which I thought was reasonable. The quote they gave me was over the top but I think it was covering all bases. No more bad breath Yeh!!
  4. After reading more of your replies I am going to book him in for next week with the vet that gave me the quote.
  5. There was a local vet offering free dental check-ups but I was a week to late.
  6. Thanks for the replies. I live in SE Melbourne, I think I will get a second quote.
  7. My 11 year old terrier cross is in need of some dental work. I have been given a quote of between $500 and $700. I know it depends on how many teeth need to extracted and anything else they might find. I have thought of taking him to another vet but for another quote but I will have to pay for another consultation fee. Is this a reasonable quote? Hoping for advice. Thankyou
  8. Hi I have the same problem with my head (tremors, shaking) I have cervical dystonia a neurological condition,. It is a rare condition in humans, don`t see why dogs couldn`t suffer from something similar. Take him to a neurologist. chooka
  9. Thanks for the advice I might try the Purina One Turkey. Ravyk, Lucky looks similar to your Peggie.
  10. Lucky has always been a fussy eater,I recently took him to vet for a check up and he said he is just the right weight for his size. He just picks at his food, he is showing no signs of ill health. I have tried dry food, home cooked doggy food, tinned food. He was a stray and the first time I ever fed him he just sniffed at it and walked away. He was about six months when he wandered down my driveway. He is five year old terrier cross of medium size. Should I be worried? He spends his days sleeping or chasing rabbits out of the back yard. As soon as he hears me grab his lead he bounds inside waiting to go for a walk. Every dog I have ever owned has eaten whatever was put in front of them. chooka
  11. Lucky was put under aneasthetic to have a good look in his ears. The vet couldn`t find very much wrong with them he seems to think it is an allergy problem. The problem flared up again recently so back to the vet he gave a cortisone injection and some antibiotics. Ear drops are no longer an option just can`t get them in. The cortisone and antibiotics worked a treat and didn`t have the hassle with ear drops. chooka

  16. Hi I would like to start giving my dog cod liver oil or flaxseed, I am not sure which one to get, or the dosage my dog is 10kilo. Is it ok to give them a brand for humans? His coat is very dull and he scratches alot althought doesn`t draw blood. He doesn`t have fleas and is wormed regulally. Apart from this problem he is a happy healthy dog, I feed him a raw diet with veggies and dry food. I have two other dogs that don`t have this problem Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Chooka
