  1. During the day they are outside in their area as normal. If we go out at night they either are here in the garage (where they sleep) or we take them to my PIL's where we either pick them or they stay the night.
  2. Well it seems the general consensus is for wood duck. I didn't realise they were around here. The Council didn't contact me again but I have a ref no for the phone call I made.
  3. This is a photo of a feathered creature that one of the dogs next door obviously attacked and killed. The dog actually had brought it into our yard. I tried to take a close up of the dog with it but it ran away. The dog went back into his own yard but couldn't take the feathered creature in. I went and took a photo of it outside next door's gate (an edited close up which I'm putting with this post). However he came back into our yard again with it so I took a couple distance shots of it which I've cropped to bring up closer. I reported it to council yesterday (mainly because of dog being with it in our yard) but no further action yet unless animal control officer came and spoke directly to them. The reason why I've been calling it a feathered creature is because I don't really know 100% what it is but wondering if it is a mapgie goose. BTW I think this is the same dog I wrote about earlier which I reported for being in our yard with a dead pullet. I'm not in contact with our neighbours because a high fence between us, no phone number in book and I'm not one to leave notes in mailboxes.
  4. Our little terrier cross Charlie was sick again last night. This happen every now and then. I could see he wanted to go outside so left him out in the pen for a while and then went out with him while he went around eating grass which he later vomited up (on the loungeroom mat of course!!!) We had a few grass eating trips outside but no diarrhea . I always have a container of chicken and rice in freezer which I give both dogs for their meals the next day. Is there anything else I can give him to help settle his tummy when he first shows signs of upset tummy?
  5. Thanks for all the replies. I'll check out Discount Chemist and Chemist Warehouse next week (going away tomorrow for a few days). I might check out a few shops in the town where we are going as well.
  6. Hi I've been reading about calendula tea for itchy dogs. I asked at our health shop "Healthy Life" but they don't have it. Any good online places to buy it through?
  7. When we took our dogs recently for their needles the vet who is either new or a locum said they didn't need the C5 as what they had the previous year would last for 3 years. They were done for Kennel cough.
  8. Thanks for all the replies. Can someone please tell me how to multiquote Thank you Another reason why my MIL and I are against this litter business is because they expect MIL & FIL to look after the dog when they aren't home (out for tea or whatever which happens fairly often)and MIL & FIL do not have the facilities or energy to cope with looking after any unsold pups and neither do we. There have been letters in the paper recently because of council plans to build a new pound. I'm going to reply to the last one and among other things somehow put in why there are so many dogs at the pound. If it gets published it will be there for my BIL & SIL to read. I plan to invite them over for tea sometime and talk about/show them some of the things in your replies.
  9. This is a bit off topic to this particular post. My SIL's SIL (a farmer's wife in another state thinks its a good idea about having a litter. My BIL and SIL don't have a computer so no access to internet so they have no idea about dogs in pounds or shelters etc. Another question. I have read where a bitch should be at least 2 years before having first litter? Is that correct? If that is so maybe they'll change their mind by then. Re the above post. My SIL would go to pieces if anything happened to their dog.
  10. They only have one dog (female). Are they going to say to Joe Blow down the road can you please get your dog health tested???
  11. My BIL & SIL have an ACD/Blue Heeler? which more than likely came from a BYB. I'm not 100% sure of its parentage. She would probably be about 8 months old not desexed and recently seems she was on heat. Now it seems that my SIL wants her to have puppies. Just one litter I've already shown her an article about Backyard Breeding and how it can add to the hundreds of dogs in Pounds etc etc. The same article also is about registered breeders and how they go about the process. Okay you have one litter but then from that one litter how many pups are born as a result if any of those pups are sold to another BYB or worse they could end up on a puppy farm. What dog are they going to use for the mating? I'm sure no registered breeder would be in on it and it would be a very irresponsible dog owner who would allow their dog to be used. Just out of curiosity how much on average is a service?? fee? I've also printed out a Yahoo topic "Is it true you should let a bitch have one litter" with all responses saying no and plenty about desexing and health issues. I haven't given that to them as yet because my BIL according to MIL said its their business what they do and I don't want to appear to be harassing them. He's the type of person who doesn't listen to reason and does his block. BTW MIL is dead against it too and she has told them this. My SIL doesn't have any children and I think this litter business is to fulfill her mothering instincts. My BIL has made the comment "We could get $200 for a pup. :mad What else can I do? Looking at that video which I think started off Oscar's Law has really made me angry and upset about the above issue.
  12. It was at the AFS chemist near the MOO GOO products.
  13. I wonder has anyone tried the Dr Zoo Irritable Skin Balm. I bought some today as Sam has trouble with 'Summer grass' itch.
