  1. K9: when giving my dog the food. Do i need to be around while he eating? When my dog eat.. if i walk around the room (i feed him inside my room as that's the only place is quiet).. my dog will follow me and see what i am doing. I got to redo the method again and watch tv not doing anything else then my dog will quietly eat. How about, if my dog ate 1/4 portion of the food (my dog have habit take long hrs to finish a meal). Do i take away the food or leave it there?
  2. last night i put a little pc of Rascal's favourite treat into a small bottle. And the whole hr he was busy trying to eat the treat :D.. that's really keep him busy. Thanks for the great idea By the way, my dog always have a problem, when he eat too much, or after eating running around.. or sometime after eating.. he will vomit out those food he ate. Not very often.. maybe once a week. Is that mean he have gastric? after couple of times notice he have this problem. I always lock him with me inside a room without distraction for 15min.. make sure he digest a bit then let him out to play. But this morning he did not play.. after eating 1/4 of the food.. he vomit out. can see he is not purposely... Or is it because the food i feed him is too dry? I am feeding him dry food.. i always mix with alittle water to soften it. Anyway as usual, he ate alittle in the morning. i took away the bowl. Later i will ask my mother in law to put the bowl on the floor again.. to let him know the food is not alawys there for him.
  3. I don't think your dog will suffer "hunger pangs" while you are away. You might, perhaps, think of freezing in an iceblock some treats to keep him busy or stuffing a rubber Kong which you would find in any pet store. You don't have to spend lots on things. Try putting some chicken necks (uncooked) in water with some fresh, lightly cooked vegetables, pop it all into a plastic container with a lid (supermarket butter containers for example) and freeze it. They get countless hours of licking pleasure to unlock the goodies. Dogs are "hard wired" (inate behaviour) to eat when food is available. In the wild dogs may not eat for several days, or more! They are natural scavengers. Beware of "overfeeding" because you could, with all the best intentions, get an obese dog resulting in health problems such as diabetes, arthritis and heart problems. My two just love Mondays at our local park because football spectators leave stuff like crusts and hotdog remnants around. Chloe has been known to disappear under the footy spectators' pavilion steps to search for scraps. To an unknowning onlooker, they seem to be behaving as underfed. They get a meal at 4pm everyday and that's it, except for an occasional "treat". Good luck! :D Henrynchlo Hi there thanks. Just now i tried the triangle way. When i reach home, i think my dog is hungry. When he see me prepare food.. kept circling non stop. Then i bring the food into my room (only place that no distraction in my house). Show him the food. And put aside. Then a few min.. stand beside him.. he just get excited and bark. When i bark. I put aside the food again. Then second time when i want to feed him.. he bark again. I put aside again. Then third time.. when i show him the food. He kept quiet.. then i said Ok and give him the food. Well he did eat. But just alittle bit. then after 15min i took away the food. Then after 10min i use the method again.. he ate abit. Then i took back -___- ..then 3rd time.. he ate abit again. I took away and throw. overall he just ate half of the plate. Which consist only one spoon of dry food and one spoon of canfood .. gee.. am i doing the right way?
  4. Put the food down, leave it for 15 mins then take it away. He doesn't get another chance to eat now until his next meal time. If you feed twice a day, morning and night then that is when you do this, once only each time, don't keep offering the food, and don't put the bowl on your hand. He must eat out of his bowl from the floor. Feeding at lunchtime is fine too, just divide his ration into three so you are not overfeeding. This dog is training you. They are very smart and cunning, especially when they realise we are a little inexperienced. Also while you are doing this, give no treats. It should only take a couple of days before he's eating at meal time out of his bowl. U mean i just offer once? In the morning, i got to leave at 8am and only came back at 7pm. If he dun eat, is it ok without food for 11hrs?
  5. Hello Haze, The Editor of that site, an Australian web site, will be able to help. The website is www.k9events.com/ It has nothing to do with K9force. There are also many articles on k9events (the website) for reading. They give excellent advice. As for feeding Rascal - put his food down for him to eat. If he hasn't eaten it withing 1/2 hr. take it away. He'll soon get the message. At the moment you are giving him the opportunity to "train you!" Good luck, Henrynchlo Hi Henry, Thank you, i just went through the web. seem like is a website for training program.

Try looking at www.k9events.com.au/ The editor of that site is very knowledgeable and will, possibly, suggest some trainers in your area. I know there is at least one but can't recollect her name. 11. Hi There, Just now i used Lunch time to go home check out with my dog. This morning, i left my home like a STORM. Guess he also puzzle what happen to mama. Well No poo yet.. gee.. but ate abit. i did not hand feed him.. i put the bowl on my hand and give him.. is that consider hand feeding? Ya u are right, got to be patient and teach him, i am quite a lazy person -____- . i did try to train him SIT.. guess what.. he only know DOWN. When i brush his coat.. i ask him DOWN.. he will just down for me to comb. but dun know SIT. I also dun know why. When i said SIT.. he kept licking my foot and hand. But when i put him on a table, i said SIT.. he do SIT thou. I think in the past i am a lazy person. I better teach him SIT everyday for 5 - 10min. Now i am reading a book "The Dog listener" Highly recommended by a tour guide during my holiday to melbourne.
  12. Let him nag... dog training classes at a community based club are as cheap as chips. You've done the right thing as a responsible owner by desexing him.. now you just have to add some more manners!! If he behaves like a maniac with the collar off, put him on lead for his meals. My hubby control our money flow. And desexing him have cost my hubby $450. -____- we dun have community based club. everything here about dog is ex. Will try to put him on a lead then.
  13. My dog will be 2 yrs old in this coming september. I adopted him 3 mths ago. Before that.. he was confined in a playpen for 1.5yrs. Singapore dun have K9force. And very costly. I tried to read book .. i am kindof lazy.. i always read half way then return the book to library
  14. And shxt.. i have been hand feeding him for more then a week to 2. How ah? How to make him eat normally without feeding him by hand? Just leave the food there?
