My elderly girl has a tumour of some sort in her mouth and it has been bleeding a bit lately. I am dealing with that tomorrow but her front legs have dried up blood on the fur. Does anyone know how I can easily clean this off I have tried just like Velvet soap and warm water but it is not working. I would appreciate any ideas thank you.

She has a bleeding tumour in her mouth. I wouldn't use anything caustic on the fur on her front legs to remove the blood as she might then lick it and that would have to be nasty if not at the least painful for her mouth. I'd just do the best I could with warm water and perhaps a little bit of velvet pure soap (rinsed off), if I was really worried about the stain.

If we wash blood stained clothing in warm water it sets the stain so wouldn't it do the same on fur? Cold water and some gentle shampoo may work but if the stain is already set it won't come out.
