  1. It is with unbelievable sadness that I let you all know that yesterday I lost my gorgeous boy Mack. Those of you that knew my Macky knew that at 11.5 years of age, he struggled with aggressive bone cancer and its associated problems. Mack has, and I'm sure will always be, my most rewarding and heartbreaking rescue ever. He has been my dearly loved friend and a dearly loved and respected member of my doggy pack. We all miss him terribly. I read a post recently about rescue making you lose your mind but find your soul. I found my soul with this boy. Having Mack in my life has changed me - for the better I think. I have never felt such compassion and love as I felt with Mack in my life. The vet told Macky yesterday that he should have been a 'gladiator' because of his determination to survive all odds but sadly yesterday my gladiator got too tired of the fight. I am heartbroken (and my doggies at home are fretting terribly over his absence). Please say your most heartfelt prayers for my beautiful gladiator boy and pray that he is running pain free and that he knows how loved and missed he is xxx

I am shedding many tears here Cathy, Mack's story and your glorious updates and pictures made me feel a connection with this lovely old bloke. You gave this wonderful man the joy and love he deserved.

    Sending you HUGE HUGE hugs.

  2. Does anyone from any of the ACT rescue groups remember this dog? Just interested to know if it did actually come from DAS.

There are photos on the link to the story

Yep I temperament tested him and I also spoke to the Army guys. This dog was going to be pts and the army saved him and gave him job, a job he was great at.

I am sad that this has been turned into the farce that it has.

I wish they could find him, he is missing in action.

  3. Mine are:

Irish Wolfhound first and foremost. I have wanted one since I was a child, we were on the list to get one and then I adopted on of my foster dogs and my husband is unwilling to have 4 pet dogs and one foster

StaffordI have a Staffy girl and a Staffy X but I believe I will always have a Staffy in my home

Pug Who couldn't love this breed.

Great DaneI have always admired the breed. My friend had a wonderful Dane and he was a good ambassador for the brred

French Bulldog Again a friend has 2 Frenchies and they are funny and have the most wonderful characters

    British Bulldog Just love them!

GreyhoundA breed again that freinds own and I love their temperament.

BullmastiffAn admired breed from way back..

I grew up with Poodles and Bischon Frise's but I love more boofy dogs. Since being in the position to be able to own my own dogs I have been involved in rescue and I have ended up falling in love with other dogs like a 10 year old Blue Heeler!!! She was who made me believe in love at first sight.

Anyway that is my brief off the top of my head list.

  4. Maisie is my little Staffy and she loves having her PJ's on, she will sit in front of me and wait for them to be put on. I didn't think either if my other 2 dogs were interested until yesterday Kenzie my Wolfie X was trying to get into Maisie's PJ's.

So can anyone recommend a place where I can get a doggy sweater or Pj's for a larger dog I would say from neck to base of tail she is about 55cm.

    Thanks in advance?

  5. Hi Guys,

I am sure that there have been loads of thread about this but I needed to ask for me. I have a Wolfie X Female Kenzie Approx 8 Years, Staffy X Male Murdock 4 years and Staffy female 2 years. Both my girls tend to get skin allergies particularly in summer. I was feeding them Advance that is $110 a 15 kilo and that didn;t last too long. Then I read on here about Uncle Alber's $35 for 22 kilos. This is all well and good but I have noticed all my dogs coats have been dryer and they just don't seem as happy.

Money is in issue as I simply cannot afford the advance but can anyone give me some advice on feeding my dogs cheaply but ensuring they are getting the nutrients they need.

Hope that makes sense and thanks in advance

    Cheers

    Bev

  6. You could tell her that for a very long time Pitbulls were known as the nanny dog and for a very good reason :)

    the nanny dog

I LOVED the pictures, how beautiful

As a 3 year old my mum got me a lab x and she was my best mate for many many years, i pulled her tail and put sand in her eyes and she let me do it without ever bring grumpy or aggressive she just loved me so much :)

Sorry if my 3 year old did that to one of my dogs, I would not let them near the dog again. I think it is disgusting you were allowed to do it and I wouldn't have blamed the dog if theyt had bitten you.

Anyway I grew up with a toy poodle that bit me every week for 14 years, partly because my Mum is terrible at training her dogs, she loves them and cares for them but they are often not obedient etc. Anyway partly Mum's fault and partly mine, the poodle was just a product of the household she grew up in. I also nearly had my face bitten by a Lab. My point is that dogs are a product of the household they grow up in. You can put one dog in 10 different households and see 10 different behaviours.

I am very comfortable with my kids being around my dogs but I am not so keen on other peoples kids being around them simply because I have no idea what rules and ways they have been taught.

  7. Winston is at the Fairfield shelter. He is doing very well and getting extremely spoilt. I've popped in a few times just for cuddles with him. The RSPCA QLD has updates on Facebook about him. He was so skinny because he had a blockage (mango seed) in his stomach. He has had surgery and is now recovering. I think he is much older than 5 though.

I think there are about 1000 people all lined up to give him a new home.

Thanks AMS I am so happy that he is on the mend, also I am not surprised that 1000 people are interested
