  1. Sweet little Strawberry. I hope she continues to come out of her shell and flourish with gentle encouragement.
  2. Wow Beautiful tiny babes xxx squeeeeel is ‘isabella’ common or uncommon in igs? I can’t wait to see the little golden girl grow edited to ask Kirislin > will the Isabella’s keep a dilute pale nose as supposed to a dark or black nose like dads/ Arkeys
  3. That’s extremely lucky for the pup on the highway!! What breed? @asal In regards to your pup being listed on gumtree did you enquire as a buyer or get the police involved? Also in regards to not inviting potential puppy buyers to your home, where do you prefer people to meet you and your dogs? I would think after many emails and spoken phone calls you would build up a rapport with the person as to whether they were ‘safe’ to give your home address to. Meeting the parents and seeing the home environment where puppies were raised is highly important to me and others when buying a purebred. I’d hate to meet up in the local Maccas car park, get my pup and to never hear from said ‘breeder’ again. (Sorry to highjack) once again very glad DDB chipper is home.
  4. Thank god! I was watching and screaming how dare they! People are ruthless So pleased he is back where he belongs!
  5. Hold up people. Think the lines have gotten crossed. Can I just state right now, that l never recommended a Pitbull to ZestyLemon. I said there are so many staffys In pounds requiring rescue and that they are great companions for cuddling / couch / bed buddies. I dont like the accusatory tone that I ever said pitbulls are not restricted... And I certainly wouldn’t advise one for a first time dog owner. That’s plain stupid. Im brave to own a chihuahua. I’m brave to own Shar Pei I’m brave to foster and rescue toy poodles And having owned a pitbull in the past, I didn’t need to be brave just kind and loving and devoted to him!
  6. Hi Jessica, I’m not too sure what ‘most people’ even means. Do you mean common breeds??? Also ‘brave enough’ and pitbull don’t ever need to go together in a sentence. Pitbulls, just as other breeds have individual needs and requirements. You don’t need to be brave at all. Sounds very arrogant. Some might say that I’m brave having a chihuahua” ...
  7. Hello ZestyLemon, considering you have yet to own a dog, I believe you will warm up to the idea of letting your companion sleep indoors. Dogs have a way of getting what they want, weaseling their way into our hearts and our beds Also if you are looking for a ‘buddy to cuddle’ up to I would recommend a foster Staffy - in the age group of 3years and upwards. If you look around the many rescue organisations you may even be able to meet and have a trial in your home to see if a Staffy is for you. Lots of staffys get overlooked in pounds especially brindles. Be sure to ask lots of questions and find out the ‘energy and excersize’ requirements of the individual dog Also are you interested in male or female? Be sure to find out as much as possible about the dog that is in foster care, re: temperament, bad habits, training, good on lead or off lead, social with others etc. all the best with your search
  8. Fantastic thread !!! Koalathebear >What a great way of sharing your Foster kids as they grow, learn and their individual journeys into happy new homes Love the photos especially Evie and the couple of pics with your turtles ! Monkey has the sweetest puppy ears and eyebrows Thanks for sharing
  9. Does anyone know Ades17 ? I hope He/She is going okay because this situation really sucked !!! Having broken up with a partner, not allowing a dog whilst in that relationship, finding a dog to love that required to be rehomed, then having to give up said dog after the relevant ownership transfers had taken place ... that’s really emotional and stressful stuff. Put this into a different perspective : that of adopting a child or having paid an incredulous amount for a surrogate to carry a child, whom ‘changed her mind’ after birth. I’d feel so sick not knowing if ‘after returning the dog’ it was in the better place than what the OP was genuinely offering. Very murky/muddy situation. Would happen quite a lot with people changing there minds back and forth, if rehoming was absolutely necessary to begin with. I only hope that Ades17 has been able to move passed all of this and is looking towards a future with a new furry companion.
  10. My mum dropped me on my face as a child so sometimes I look like this but if im feeling pretty I put my best face on
  11. Hi everybody it’s been quite some time before returning to Dol. Lord I remember wasting away the days and late mornings on DOL, before facebook took lives over anyhow fast-forward to now I’m currently owned and under the thumb of a sassy 6 year old Chihuahua. Yes, a chihuahua rules this roost. She was an addition to the family, a smaller addition to keep Sargent on his toes and a little shadow friend for him. Sadly it’s been a looong 2years without my smoochy loving handsome Pei son. RIP SARGEY 11/7/16 And so now MISS Violet is an only child, a mischievous cheeky bratty barky little black n tan turd, full of attitude or spunk whichever you like. (Sorry, delayed images. Figuring out photos)
  12. Hi Grumpette Hailey is very sweet and I can see the ‘devil’ too I love the ‘pat my belly’ shot and the goofy sibling pic ‘I’m getting bigger like my brother’ Zeph has a great head and smile How awesome that a boisterous ‘whirlwind’ pup has done wonders for Zeph I’ve always had a soft spot for Rottie puppies and Allerzeit Rotts Hi Allerzeit

    Kaos

Rest In Peace Kaos Hi Teebs, I fondly remember following your journey with Kaos and Atlas’ antics I’ve not visited or posted in DOL for sometime but recognised your screen name. Sending my condolences to you.
  15. Hi CavNrott Thanks for replying quickly. Violetta's regular vet is in West Footscray and he specialises in chihuahuas but isn't a 'specialist' as such. We have had a second opinion in Altona/Williamstown. Again no X-rays required. I guess I feel X-rays would be beneficial to compare against but perhaps you're right in that they have already felt and distinguished the issue. I am not familiar with the specialist centre in Essendon but I will definitely research Pete Laverty. I have not visited the Victoria Werribee University Veterinary school for some time (Millicent's passing) and don't know which vets are currently recommended. I have Pet insurance, just want the best surgeon for my little brat lol Thanks again
  16. I've been buying Applaws grain free dry food for about 6months. I thought it was Aussie made? Have not tried the can stuf. Feed raw mince usually. My fussy chihuahua made the switch from Blackhawk chicken dry with no issue. So far so good. I find the 5.5 kg bag cheaper at Petstock.
  17. Hi Monchichi, CavNrot, Powerlegs I have not used Dol for quite some time. I have a chihuahua now. (And Shar Pei too) My chihuahua was diagnosed with grade 1-2 LP in both legs when she was just a tiny speck, age 6months. I was a bit shocked and hesitant about surgery so young. The first vet advised doing both knees within her first year. I decided to wait until my dog showed any discomfort or pain. The occasional pop out and pop back in hasn't bothered her. She is a super speedy little thing on walks and likes to chase the big dogs without issue. Once in a blue moon, after a lengthy walk, recently she refuses to jump onto the bed (can usually do with ease) and will cry to be lifted up. Aged 2.5 now another vet has said she definitely has grade 3 Luxating pattella In her left leg. My concern is neither vet has ever mentioned doing X- Rays and are willing to book her in with short notice. I'd like some advice on reputable surgeons preferably small breed LP surgery. I also know it can be an expensive surgey, wondering if the size and weight of dog can vary the cost? Sorry for the highjack Monchchi
  18. Thanx Kirty. I am led believe he has done 'hundreds of eye surgeries' though for a specific breed rescue group. Thats why i mentioned him. Thankyou
  19. Thank you everybody! I can't believe i forgot to include the pug people! Robin is one of the ones I was thinking to see.
  20. My chihuahua loves her dry food. I feed Black Hawk lamb. She is crazy about food and eats every single last crumb. I am thinking to switch to the Chicken and Rice to see if her weight alters at all. Getting a little chunky.... I have not used Eukanuba.
  21. Hi everybody, It has been some time since one of my own dogs needed Entropian Surgery. I have previously used a general veterinary surgeon to do the operation. My current vet is now telling me that I must use an Opthalmologist. We have a booking with the specialist, but i want to research my various options. Does anyone have any advice regarding Eye Specialists versus a surgeon to do the Entropian. Any recommended vets in Melbourne? This post is aimed at people who have dogs which have required the surgery before. Breeds such as Shar Pei, Bulldogs, Mastiffs, boxers, etc etc. I know of Andrew Turner and Simon Hurn who consult in Kensington at Advanced Vet Care. And Dr Robyn Stanley at Point Cook Animal Accident and Emergency Centre. Scot Plummer at South Eastern Animal Hospital. I would like to know if you have used these vets and if you were happy with their work. Thank you for any info and advice.
