  1. Is it Keeto? I am having very similar problems with Migaloo atm but hers is mainly related to kids, oh and of course other dogs, she is downright bitchy with other dogs lately and I cannot trust her with any others right now! I'm sorry that I can't offer much advice but maybe all he needs is to take him into Liebig on a busy day (shouldn't be too hard at this time of year!) and get him to sit quietly while all the action happens around him. He may just need a bit of desensitisation to a big variety of people. He doesn't sound too bad yet, but of course you don't want it to escalate into something more. Yours are all such friendly rotts, it would be a shame to have any of them muzzled. I am away in Hobart atm awaiting a flight to Antarctica for the summer. I am due back in late January and I would love to have a catch up with you and your brood and see if 5 rotts are enough to put Miggy in her place! I would love to meet again down at Harris st and see how they go. She wasn't too bad last time and I remember all the rotts hung out together and she stuck with your koolie that you were fostering! I might need to muzzle her for the encounter as she is so bad with other dogs atm but we'll see how we go at the time. Are you up for it in late January sometime? Have a great Chrissie and new year and good luck with the growling problem... I reckon some desensitisation is the go. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
  2. Name: Shannon Age: 27 Location: Warrnambool, Victoria Rescue Group: None specifically but I am involved with RSPCA and I have fostered for CGAS (the gorgeous Scout!) Time in Rescue: 1.5 years, but have been involved with my local RSPCA for 8 years Who can vouch for: Don't know!! As I said I have fostered for CGAS and so maybe, paula_canberra, olly? I know pandii! I had a lot of help initially form DOL'ers when trying to get a rotti girl out of Ballarat RSPCA, imashephead, mavmon, etc. Preferred Breed: Rottis, boxers and greys plus anything else big! Experience: 8 years involvement with RSPCA, fostered only 2 dogs (one RSPCA, one CGAS) but would like to do more, limited by OH! Next questions... I have not done the work myself but I agree that all work, esp. desexing should be done before the dog leaves care. Microchip: Yes Vaccination: Yes Desexing: Yes Heartworm test: Yes Worming: Yes Flea treatment: Yes Vet work if required: Yes Basic training/teach manners: Yes House train dogs: Yes Dogs inside the home or outside: Both my own and foster dogs stay inside and outside, will adjust according to needs, eg. ATM my rotti boy prefers outside at night where he can roam around the yard at will, but boxer girl too thin and hair too short, so sleeps inside. Are you prepared to give extra care for a submissive nervous dog: Yes, I do this with my boxer girl every day! I would always like to gve a dog a chance and assess for excessive submission or nerves that could lead to aggression and therefore also find a suitable owner. I am certainly prepared to foster again as soon as I am back from being away in 2 months time and as soon as I can convince my OH! He said no more fostering after we rescued our boxer girl but she is improving all the time and so is the OH, I reckon I will be able to foster again in a few months! Please keep your fingers crosses as I want to help out more greys in care!
  3. Hello there! Good luck on the weekend if I don't see you beforehand! Considering it was my dog in the second instance I would suggest that the container sitting on the ground is going to be very tempting to ANY dog and they will appraoch it not knowing that your girl is protective, so to prevent her getting cranky, maybe keep the treats on yourself?? Then no one else can get to them except her and you ;) . See you soon...
