  1. I remember bringing our Sally horse back home leading alongside the car one day ... she was a few km away ..and walked really slowly ......
  2. Please ask on here for a more sensible training school ! I have never heard that puppies should not be allowed to free run in their own yard Noise/shadows/learning to THINK and problem solve when alone , learning what's up/down .... all this is what helps make a confident and thinking dog, IMO.
  3. Maybe they are outside cause they are after all dogs and it's good for them, rather then be cooped up in a pen for 3/4 of their life. Pups need to feel rain on their back, sunlight on their face, wind ruffling through their fur, chase a leaf blowing along the ground. I appreciate this is not always possible for people living in flats/units but if you have a backyard, then yeah I think the dog should be allowed to enjoy it, on his own terms, not with a human hovering over them. Totally agree with this :) Environmental exploration /developing of all sorts of skills ..and just FUN ..watching bugs , tasting grass, sniffing dirt, feeling different things with those paddy feet ....
  4. LOL That reminds me of my Grandad - when he got old , and couldn't do much , he had a little mini-moke to drive. he used to put 4 or 5 dogs in.. drive a mile or so away from the house ..tell the dogs to get out , and trundle back home . The dogs loved their runs - and there was no danger of traffic . It did not teach them to chase cars, either ;)
  5. Catching mice & rats is OK ... provided she doesn't eat them!! rats & mice she is able to catch may have been poisoned ... and it's risky if she then eats them .
  6. Most dogs will do this, given the opportunity . I knew a little JRT who would jump up onto an outdoor table ,sit really still , and grab any sparrow silly enough to fly low!!
  7. I guess most people would say 'cooked' as there are those who dislike feeding raw , and enjoy doing 'home cooked' meals for their furries ? I would feed raw, as the smell of stewing roo makes me want to ....

  11. have you read this ? :) CLICK HERE these might also be of help ... LINK LINK
  12. basically, whichever way you train , it is the OWNER's mastering of the methods which determines the way their dog turns out ;)
  13. So, you are concerned about incontinence after one damp patch? please do NOT use any human drugs (any drugs) until, as you say , a vet confirms a problem. My male dog had a couple of occasions when he wet the bed during very heavy sleep .... it only ever happened twice , so he didn't have any treatment ... You may well be correct in thinking it was saliva after a chew session - hope so :)
  14. Maybe change what you feed ..... poos can be nice firm little ones, which hardly smell and do not spread, so that there is almost no mess :) How hot is it there ? Pups in shade, with large frozen water bottles to drape over, and paddling pool should do OK ...
  15. brilliant .. have stolen it & facebooked it ;)
  16. Ha, ha! Love the flyscreen one !! :) ..and the old school desk? Glad the update is positive
  17. Seems you will have to use a long line on the beach ?
  18. Maybe check out the Council site for that area?
  19. LOL Caillie is getting a bit lazy in her dotage - she is in her 14th year , and is our senile delinquent ; stealer of mobile phones, jackets, notebooks, lunchboxes ....
