  1. Yes, dogs are a pack.. That pack includes you. YOU are the alpha . YOU make the rules . Alpha wolves/dogs usually do not pander to another pack PUPPY by giving it food first/greeting it first - that sort of behaviour is what PUPPIES do to the alpha . This little squirt /bully needs some serious educating ... Have you read up on Nothing In Life Is Free ? I believe you should dedicate yourself/ves to starting this on a couple of days off ..so you can get into a good habit ..then continue it . It is fair and equal and the dog gets what it wants - attention/food/walk....without being a bully ;)
  2. I suggest the usual vet .. she may have put her back out ..she may have had a loss of oxygen ...or something else .... Hope she is OK
  3. I ..and it becomes learning a good habit , not restraint :)
  4. yes. It also makes memories nicer ones to dig out every so often ....
  5. Old Gert - now around 14 was always Mum's dog, and inside after Mum died, as usual ..... last year , as she kept toileting inside, and would also bark half the night at nothing we could find ..plus get very distressed ... I tied her up on the porch to sleep ..with a bed ..and there was never any more noise .. the odd wee during the night ..and she is calm .
  6. yep .. you know him .... stop & think if he generally gets a good deal of enjoyment out of his days - or does the time of confusion/distress outweigh it ...
  7. That's not really young .... Gosh , I wonder who she confuses with not putting her brain in gear before she speaks? .....
  8. That's a worry :( Hope you find someone with some more experience !! Was this vet very young ?
  9. the whole tray full ..yep. She appears fine this morning . *sigh* ......

  11. She came waddling up to me this morning looking happy - old horror ! :)
  12. Hmph! Dear old thing ... My Bro has gone to work away for a few days . he phoned tonight, and asked what I'd done with the donuts .... Apparently he bought himself a pack of 18 jamball donuts ..had them in the front of the 4WD this morning ...Of course, I found the empty tray in Caillie's kennel She bounced around earlier for her meal .... I had no idea that she had breakfasted ROYALLY on a mound of sugary yumminess ...... BEAST
  13. I am a great believer in this !! :D saves problems of mouthing/chewing/playing before they even start :)
  14. This poll I started today may help you :) CLICK HERE training classes will also help. No matter what your pup wears , it is YOUR knowledge of how to teach him which is most important . :) My choice is a good quality flat collar .
  15. Thank you :) it's interesting . Guess it does make a difference too with coated breeds ....? I am a dinosaur with no experience in harnesses (LOTS of flat collar/chain collar work before harness training adult Guide dogs, but that's different ;) ) and I have only ever used head collars on adult dogs meant for people who were infirm /incapacitated in some way.Limited slip collars I have used a few timeswith pups , and like them . They are excellent for those who do the yabby backward spurt and leave flat collars behind :D

  17. That seems impressive ! What was the problem ? puppy, or dog?
  18. yes, definitely just feed a normal amount of food .at present .. pre pregnancy quantity , even.. .. so there isn't massive amounts of milk being produced. her boobs will settle a bit once her system realises that there is only one being emptied regularly .... I would probably not use the vinegar - pup may not enjoy the taste ;) ( I have used it with bitches who've lost pups or got mastitis )
