  1. Hi everyone ! Been a VERY long time since I posted - is it still active at all?
  2. Radio station 104.7 has announced that two large brindle dogs wearing studded collars are at Waniassa Shops in Canberra and have been there for some time. Please contact radio station for more info.
  3. I have passed the link on - thanks guys, fingers crossed for the little fella, Ive never heard of such a cross either.
  4. Someone I have known for a number of years and her partner ( who is a vet) tragically lost both their dogs to a brown snake last week and ended up in hospital as well. She has now asked me to keep eyes open for a kelpie x ( pref dauschund ) under 2 yrs , pup is fine and they would prefer to adopt from rescue. They live in Canberra , if you know of any suitable please inbox me or text me on 0459211291
  5. There is a huge 'we have to move' problem in Canberra. It is the nature of the city - people come from all over, and settle into a home and Public Service job - often with Defence and then they are posted elsewhere.SURPRISE!!!! Like that wasnt on the cards !!!!!!!!!! Somehow they thought it was cool, somewhere along the line, to get a pet or a few- you know , for the kids. So lets teach the next generation that pets are disposable when you have to be posted OS for a while. I dont know how to get the message through to people - you dont give up your children, and pets have that same codicil in the deal when you get them. Just dont have them unless you are 100% certain you can keep them come what may for their entire lives. Then rescuers could be working on helping much smaller numbers of genuine situations. Drives me NUTS
  6. Im after any advice from those of you who may have experienced this . George - the wirey little JRT in my signiture- 10 yrs old (maybe 11?)Hes avery active fairly obedient and lives with the rest of our dogs in the house. he has developed an allergy. For the first year to two years of living here he was fine and nothing has changed in his environment or diet. Several months ago he developed a skin complaint - the iching drives him crazy - it is definitely not fleas. he is constantly scratching and biting to a point where he was creating raw patches. This is when the vet said its an allergy and he had a course of antibiotics and antihistamines which worked like a miracle, a month after he finished the course , the scratching returne. Poor little bugger, it really gets him down and you can see depression creeping in.Another course of AH's fixed it again and now they are finished and the scratching is going on again. I will get him more AH's this week but Im just not happy to make him have them for life. I have tried thinking of anything and everything which may cause it but to no avail. Im wondering about a wash/home made skin lotion natural remedy/miracle anyone knows of or suggestions other than the current path were on. please note I cannot afford massive investigative vet work which may or may not work. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Oh and none of the other dogs have it.
  7. A friend of mine swears Hills B/D did wonders for her aging BC. VERY interesting - I definitely keep that in mind
  8. Poor bugger - there are such cruel heartless people all over the world, Im so glad they could help him and by doing that - helped themselves under dreadful circumstances , war is a very difficult place to be for anyone. I would imagine they will be able to raise the funds within the defence forces - I would love to meet Wiley , brave little soul.
  9. Weve had lots of oldies over the years since weve had dogs my entire life and always for their entire lives. We adjust to a smaller biscuit sometimes warming food in winter and Ive always needed to feed a little more rather than less. I too have added, shark cartilege and green lipped muscle because they are the main ingrediants of Sashas blend and a LOT cheaper that way (available in powder form from health food shops) I often will add some sort of edible oil(small amount) to ensure bowel movement as well. Towards the very end I tend to give them cooked chicken or fish and well pretty much anything they want except chocolate of course. I have been known to sit on the floor with my darlings and spoon feed when they are off their food and it works for me. Theres not much I wont do in paliative care -for us its definitely about making their last days as painfree, comfortable & dignified and as pleasant as possible.
  10. Oh no, this is just such a cruel blow - RIP Banjo and may you find some solace in the joy he brought you Gary.
  11. C'mon DOLĂ©rs - lets help our Flynny and Barney get over the line ...we need all of you to vote for him right NOW... .it only takes a couple of clicks - hes literally neck and neck(only one vote between them literally at this minute) and it finishes in 35 mins !!!! the suspense is just awful ... SHOW US THE POWER OF DOL .......please For those who dont know Poocow - she is totally dedicated to her dogs - her life literally revolves around them, they are gorgeous well trained and cared for K9's .
  12. Ive never heard of a COUNCIL that wont allow any dogs anywhere - but what do I know? Your right about greys killing kids next - ridiculous nonsense. Dont know the FACTS about the rest so wont comment with my uninformed opinion which is bursting to. Not to make light of what is a bad situation. I would stay out of arguments online though - they achieve nothing except to get you all worked up over someone youll probably never meets opinion.
  13. Ive only just seen this thread - have I got time to work on a square and send it off Monday? and if so could you please PM me your addy to send it to. Love to Erny ...............very much in my thoughts.
  14. such a pity Kaos doesnt cope with K9 company - you would be the ideal carer for this poor girl Teebs. Probably shouuldnt state the obvious but (some) people are shits and certainly dont desrve to be blessed with dogs.
  15. take lots and lots and lots of car music -its a drive Ive done a number of times but rarely stop except for dog stops and thats wherever it needs to be, not exactly high traffic so not much of a problem. Just pack water and the necessaries - but you know all that. have a good drive overand let us know how it goes.
  16. Just on the point of Rangers (council) - locally we have two (in Southern NSW) one of them is a devoted animal lover and active in animal rescue and care, the type of man who will ring you if he thinks you could help in an animal related situation and would go way out of his way to avoid trouble for any animal. He spends his whole life helping others in one way or another . However for years he was portrayed as a heartless bastard who would entice dogs from their yards so he could impound them , now I know the man and his wife , I know this is totally untrue. The other ranger is the opposite , actually told me he only took the job because noone else wanted it and at his age it was the only job he could get - thats the nicest thing I can say about this person. He boasts about how many dogs hes had declared dangerous - even to the newspapers, he lies and says things to suit himself at the time . One of the problems is, being a Ranger is just a job, however the uniform supports a lot of offical power over animals in the council juristiction. There are no qualifications necessary to become a Ranger for the council. I am so glad we have moved back out of town - away from Rangers and .....people in general .Life is so much more peaceful here.
  17. Dutch and Knuckles modeled collars for the website YAY! They're Ruthless stars! They don't have their own collars yet but you can be sure they will one day. They aren't related by breed (although both bully breeds) but they're pretty much related by boof! Well they are just stunning - and would look almost as good as Sienna in hers (notice how Ruthless made it cunningly to match her eyes)
  18. Gosh I can see Dutch and Knuckles in Ruthless collars - are they related ? they almost MUST be he he ...gorgeous dogs
  19. but seriously Ruthless - how stunning would a matching pair be? Looking forward to the celebrations
  20. Hmmm one extremley ruthless classy collar and lead and two extremley classy bitches ......somethings missing for the perfect picture .......what could it be?
  21. How terribly sad for you all, a tragic accident .................RIP Hugo. Be kind to yourselves.
