  1. Hello! yes all good, dogs well, I've moved back to South Australia into a crap house so have to fix it up . xxx hope you're all well and happy and healthy. xxx
  2. OMG guess where I am now! WynnVale! will have to visit you. xxxx
  3. This. Also, fences, kids, working hours, the usual stuff to consider for fostering. As far as I know, there aren't really any other breed rescues for dogs near Launceston. I can think of only one other and I'd be very wary of them (won't mention the group name on here but it's a working breed). On the other hand, if they like cats, Just Cats is a huge group near Longford and they always need foster carers for cats. I've heard some questionable things about the woman who runs it but by all accounts, she's a bit hard to get along with so it's no surprise people have complaints. Only other local option is the RSPCA up in Mowbray and they seem to make the application process as hard as possible and will turn people down for absurd reasons, like not being at home 24/7. they don't have any animals and are home all the time, but I'm not sure what the fence situation is ATM. x
  4. thank you for all the information. I will make sure they are informed. xx
  5. Hi, I haven't been on for a while, a few years! I have a relative who has recently moved to Tasmania, an hour from Launceston, and they are very interested in fostering . Are there any breed rescues or working dog rescues who need fosterers? or indeed any organisation , Thank you. xx
  6. I am tentatively thinking of having a boarding kennels, although I have no idea what this entails regarding regulations, business planning, expenses, building requirements, any auditing etc. If anyone can assist me to make an informed decision, I would be very grateful. THANKYOU..xxx :)
  7. Wow, thanks everyone. and thankyou for link to Wayrod. I have had a quote from dogtainers for the two inc. crates, one nights boarding, vet check.. Brisbane, singapore, heathrow.. $5200. I thought that was good, much lower than I expected. Considering the girls are 28kg and 35kg.. I am awaiting a quote from Jetpets and will ask a couple of breeders I know, who they use as they regularly send dogs OS for shows and breeding purposes. Of course my main worry is the girl's comfort, safety etc.. Jerojath.. :D Not sure yet, :) simply making enquiries, I've been seriously thinking of going for a while, and the last two years have spent some time there, and didn't want to come back.. I go between, What the heck, just go!! and OMG! I must be stark raving mad!!!
  8. Any ideas how to get hold of him? I think his inbox muxt be full
  9. Mine LOVE their crates..LOL. Who is Wayrod? I don't think I've seen that before.. Thanks.
  10. I know of dogtainers and jet pets, and I have applied for quotes from both. Can anyone with experiences of taking their dogs overseas tell me about both of these businesses and who they prefer and why? I know many breeders often send dogs overseas for showing/breeding etc. and would like to know how the dogs cope (and humans) and how well they travel.. (dogs! :) ) If there are any other animal transport options I would also be interested, and in any details at all that I can get re the journey. I am investigating Heathrow as the destination. Thanks.. :D

  15. OK, been let down quite badly by a person who was housesitting for a few days for me as a trial..so am now after a person who is very responsible, dog loving of course.. and available for this time period. I have a couple of options..kennels etc. of which I am not keen on doing re stress on dogs.. so just putting it out there..in case. ;) I can pm my phone number if anyone has any ideas. xxx
  16. I wonder if Jane Harper or K9pro would know of anywhere suitable? They are both experienced behaviourists/trainers, Jane is in that area.
  17. I'm desperate to move to adelaide and as we are having trouble selling, we will have to rent!!! probably a bit soon forus though. cant really move until early next year.. I have been checking out rentals..does not seem to be many pet friendly ones Yours sounds perfect!!!
  18. All my pets have been indoors when we go out, even if we have to go out for the whole day (10 or more hours) to the city etc.. I've never thought about it really as I know no different. I guess just normal toilet training, make sure they go before you go out, see them go.. I keep mine separate when out so they dont 'play' and also as I think it's good for them to be used to being alone. we have hard floors, with rugs. I do put a bit of paper down, but mainly so that they don't have a major melt down if they do need to go. They never have. I also have a couple of girlfriends who have housekeys so that IF i get held up, or something happens (I'm neurotic!,, If they dont hear from me by a certain time, I say just go and see to the pets as I have a fear of having a car accident and no one realising the cats and dogs are starving in the house )... They will also let them out at lunch time if I ask.. I never leave anything to chew etc. Neurotic again.. too scared of choking, bowel obstructions (and I've seen some awful ones with things like cardboard, carrot etc. at work years ago), My spin also has a very wide mouth and things get stuck sideways on the roof of her mouth and she cannot get them out. There is nothing at all where she is left that can hurt her. THe viz never ever chews anything at all anyway. I keep mine in for the same reasons as others, heaps of snakes here, some twit could open the gate, throw baits over, other dogs could get in somehow, there could be a nasty storm while I was out, they are very comfortable indoors, I can leave the airon or heating on if necc.. etc etc...... I dont make a fuss of mine when I get home..mine would get overexcited and I just say hi girls as though I've been gone 5 minutes. so they know it's no big deal.
  19. Maybe they are TOO much dog for customs etc... We have one around the corner...it rules the street! It never shuts up or stops running! and it has owners at home and 3 kids to play with and an acre of land...they love it...the rest of the area... ;) Even on walks it tells dogs off...I have quite big dogs, but pass on the other side of the street.. He obviously needs much more training, not his fault. He is lovely and loving..but really has far too many batteries for me, makes my viz look quiet!! So, where are photos of this lovely little girl??xxx

2 ridgies here got ripped by a roo, but thankfully were saved. Roos and emus are dangerous, but they will usually take off rather than confront, unless there is no choice. we have them in our garden, no issues at all, but you need to be aware. They can also get under fences...I've seen them duck right under very low! The school the kids went to always had and still has, tens of roos covering the ovals etc. for most of the day. THere's never been an incident. The kids would be strung up if they tried anything silly anyway. , the area is a wildlife 'refuge' and has signs everywhere.
  21. Maybe PM Kaffy Magee, she's not on often now, very busy. She is a breeder and has several, plus kids, cats, and little dogs too... all very lovely, so she obviously knows her stuff. :D Hers are indoors too.
  22. I don't really dress mine..Monah needs her jammies.. but she does look pretty silly.. I do love to do the Christmas thing though. Even when I was a child, before doggy xmas stuff, we would always put xmas bows on the animals on christmas day. The last one, Monah is dressed in one of the girlchilds old dancing outfits! She won a prize at the kennel club I did used to dress one of our tonkinese cats up in dolls baby clothes and put him in my english pram and take him to the shops! when I was a chld...he was amazing, never before or since have I met a cat like him!!
  23. I was thinking Bouv too... I've had GIant Schnauzers, they would be great! :D
