  1. Depending on the size of your dogs and property type you were after you might be better looking 20/30mins from the city. I found the further surburbean you go the more pet friendly properties become.

Yes, I am actually a teacher and am teaching in the western suburbs of Sydney, so am house hunting in the Hawkesbury area. It seems there are quite a few places but as I am moving out of home I have not rented before so wanted to cover all potential questions with the dogs first! Thanks :)

  2. Hi Everyone,

I thought this was the best place to ask - I am about to start the hunt for my first rental house, but I will be taking my dogs (2 of the 3) with me. I can leave one boy at home with Mum and Dad as there is no way I would have any hope of renting with 3 dogs.

What I am asking is how should I go about bringing this up with landlords? I am planning on putting a folder together as a resume for my 2 dogs. What do I need in this, and how should I set it up?

    Thanks Ashley :)

  3. Hi,

I am just wondering what everyone thinks about tick collars. Obviously nothing is 100% effective when it comes to ticks, but I feel that with a tick collar and a spot on, along with daily searching, I am helping to protect my guys from paralysis ticks.

What are your experiences with the two brands of tick collars? Preventic and Kiltix? Would love to know what you recommend and why...

    Thanks Ashley

  4. Either way, there is always going to be a risk of your puppy picking something up, but in my honest opinion, I believe that by leaving your puppy home, the risk of an anti social puppy far out weights the slight risk of disease. I think everyone will have a different point of view on this topic, and in the end you need to do what you are comfortable with. If you are paranoid your puppy will get sick, that is probably what will happen. You need to do what you feel is right, regardless of what others do and do not say.

  5. I believe that socialisation is more important than worrying about other potential risks. From 8 weeks old, my puppies go everywhere; puppy preschool, park, in the car, to the shops etc. I think an anti social puppy is far bigger risk and if I was you, I would be taking your puppy with you no questions! Just my opinion and I am sure others will have their own.

  6. Mum got hers in the mail today for her Basset Hound... 2 weeks delivery and it's absolutely fab.

    Clean Run Cool Coat

I received mine yesterday and am sending it back as faulty, I'm not happy with it at all plus it feels really slimy like a gel substance leaking and is very heavy. Thinking of getting more Cool Champions as these have lasted me for years and I have been very happy with them. Just thought I would try something different and compare.

Did it come as it is in the picture? What a joke - it looks like it has been used. I would be disappointed too. Stick with Cool Champions - no messy gels, not heavy and as you said, seem to last ages!

  7. Symptoms can show up to a week later so keep your pup quiet.

I just want to back up this comment. A few weeks ago I took a tick of my boy on the Tuesday evening and it was not until the Friday that he started to show signs of tick poisoning (breathing difficulty, not being able to jump up...) Do not think you are safe just yet. Please be very cautious, keep checking your puppy, put Frontline on it and keep the puppy very quiet. It can take some time for the poison to be fully released into the body.

Good luck and I hope that your puppy is just fine. :)

ETA: Yes, my boy did have Advantix on him. It had been applied a week before I found the tick.

  8. Thanks everyone. I have emailed a bunch of the trailer companies and at the moment Cruising Canines seem to be able to add/modify everything we want thus far. Would really love to see one however. If you know of anyone in NSW or coming up to NSW for any shows I would love to have a look.

  9. Thanks again, it is great to hear peoples good and bad experiences with trailers and their manufacturers. Does anyone have, or know someone that has a Cruising Canines Dog Trailer or an Advantage Dog Trailer in the Sydney, Central Coast or Newcastle areas (NSW) that I would be able to have a look at? Would like to see these trailers in the flesh as they look quite nice online, but have never seen one of either before.

  10. Hi everyone,

A new dog trailer is on the cards at the moment and I wanted to hear from you all about the pro's and con's of all the different brands. There are alot of different companies in Australia now that manufacture dog trailers that would suit our needs, but I really want to know the in's and out's of each companies trailers.

    Thanks :)
