  1. I've always heard you have to be careful stopping Prednisolone so I would follow the vet's instructions with the dosage and not just stop it. If still in doubt could you phone the vet to clarify? I hope your pup continues to improve.

  2. Skip the rangers, go straight to the top.

Yep. Local members for your ward (if you have them), Mayor, General Manager, Animal Companion Manager etc.

So sorry you've had such a bad time - but onya Stan for keeping your girls amused!

Actually, why can't the council go for Menacing rather than Dangerous? Isn't that the point of having the new rules?

Agree with every word of this ^. Why can't the council go for menacing dogs? Keep at them, remember the squeeky wheel gets the most oil?

You would think the Ranger could do something about these dogs. I'm not convinced they can't do anything, just concerned that they won't do anything. What exactly are the Ranger's duties?

HazyWal my thoughts are with you.

I also agree with this, thinking of you HazyWal and Maddie and Stan.

  3. Stanley smiles too but it's a bit manic :p

Stan looks very relaxed! I love the pic of Maddie, it reminds me of a yoga pose.

Yes LT for those of my vintage she'd give Swami Sarasvati a run for her money.

Breathing in, breathing out and reeeeeelax

I remember Swami and used to love her shows. I'm sure she inspired me to take up yoga years later.

My Labradors are not nearly as flexible as Maddie, especially the older girl who is nearly 13 now with arthritis. Recently she's started having trouble getting up on to the bed and asks me to help her up.

  4. My dogs have had a few ear hematoma operations and they were successful. My main issue in recovery was stopping the head shaking and I resorted to using a big headband in the end rather than an Elizabethan collar. The vet had her ear bandaged to her head for some of the time. I hope it goes well for your girl.

  5. Posting here rather than Lost and Found for wider distribution.

This is just out on FB. Lost cavalier king charles spaniel called Paddy. Poster on FB advised that she saw an old gentleman crying as he was pasting up flyers. She took a photo of the flyer and posted on FB lost and found for him asking people to share.

Please share Paddy's lost notice on FB and your other social networks.

The poor guy, how sad. How can one find the info Sheridan?

  6. I saw the movie Thursday. It is only on as part of the Australia wide French Film Festival and screening is nearly over so be quick if you can find a session still on. The movie was great and I loved it. I have been watching as they filmed it as a pyr breeder in France was involved with her dogs. Seeing the film takes as it was made was great and I have been waiting impatiently for the full film lol! The director did a wonderful job of portraying the pyr and captured the little subtle (and not so subtle) mannerisms perfectly (even the bark - no generic bark used here, it was all pyr!). It was almost like seeing my own dogs on screen. Will definitely be getting a copy on DVD.

I saw it today, it was a beautiful film in so many ways; the boy, the dog, the scenery and the story! :) It attracted quiet a large audience so hopefully there may be further screenings to come in the near future.

  7. For those who like dog movies I noticed this is screening tomorrow in Melbourne as well as some other capital cities as part of the Alliance Française French Film Festival. The last days of the festival dates are listed on the link below and coming soon to other locations. I hope this is ok to post, I only do so to share as a cinema enthusiast and dog lover.

The 1960s TV series beloved around the world has been remade for a new generation as a heart-warming family film that deserves to be seen on the big screen.

Belle and Sebastian is set high in the snowy Alps during the Second World War. The resourceful Sebastian (an adorable Félix Bossuet) is a lonely boy who tames and befriends a giant, wild mountain dog, Belle – even though the villagers believe her to be ‘the beast’ that has been killing their sheep.

At the same time, the Germans have arrived in the peaceful village looking for resistance members who are helping Jewish refugees escape into Switzerland. Through danger and adventure, Belle and Sebastian forge an indestructible friendship.

Set against breathtaking scenery and a dramatic time in history, and co-starring Tchéky Karyo, one of France’s most popular actors, this moving story will be enjoyed by the whole family.
