  1. How gorgeous. I had a male Labrador who did that. I came home in the middle of winter to find him in his kennel with two 5-6 week old Jack Russell pups that had been dumped in the back lane. They were snuggled up against him on a bitter cold day. It brings tears remembering how sweet and gentle he was. The pups went to the pound and found homes after that.

  2. Awww, he's missing his mum and siblings I suppose. It's been many years since I had a new puppy but from memory the howling didn't last for many nights, maybe only one or two. Enjoy your new little boy and I look forward to seeing pics and hearing of his progress. My 11 year old lab is sleeping soundly next to me on the bed as I write. :)

  3. This story is heart-warming, & what a gorgeous dog! :)

Hero police dog Marco finds missing dementia patient clinging to a branch in a freezing river after officers had spent HOURS searching the same area

A NSW Police dog named Marco has saved the life of a 65-year-old man

The dementia patient went missing from a facility at Mardi, NSW

Marco repeatedly led his attached officer to a specific spot on the river's steep embankment that had previously been searched with no luck

The man was found hidden behind a branch he was clinging onto.

  4. Was LDH also involved in a case last year where and old man in an agitated state surrendered his dog and when his daughters went to claim it back they found out it had already been pts? I think the man had alzhiemers and the daughters had rung while the dog was still alive only to be told it wasn't there, but when they kept looking for the dog they found out it was but had been pts after their initial phone call.

I looked but couldn't find the original story.

I remember that Little Gifts, it was a very sad story.

I think it was discussed in this thread. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/260665-ldh-at-it-again/page__p__6606446__hl__%2Blost+%2Bdogs+%2Bhome__fromsearch__1#entry6606446
