  1. So sorry to read this MW. Stevie had a para-osteal-fibro-lypoma (don't google it, it doesn't exist) taken off her hock about 18 months ago. It was growing in the joint and bone, but we were told it wasn't malignant, just aggressive. The SASH people were wonderful and talked about all her options but she was only 5, in extremely good health, very happy to stay with strangers, and the surgeon was confident he could get most if not all of it out so we decided on surgery. On the other hand, Jodie's just had a lump taken off her belly. This time we didn't even do pathology on it. If it's nasty then it will come back, if not then it was nothing to worry about, and we would never put Jodie through more than a simple general at our local vet.

You have lots of research to do and thought processes to go through, but only you will know what suits you and Tess best. If you need a shoulder (or someone else to help cuddle Tess) just let me know and I'll be around in a flash.

  2. On Thursday night there was blue Play-doh in our yard.. The mum thought it all got picked up but perhaps a little worm of it was left sitting on a bench - she can't remember getting that piece.

Also Sammy gave back most of a ballpoint pen, but we haven't seen the inside tube with the ink in it. That was Tuesday, I think.

Which one is most likely to have turned Sammy and Stevie's poo blue/green yesterday?

    Poo patrol can be fascinating!

  3. So sorry T. I'm glad I had a little cuddle with one of the little sweeties. I'm also glad you were strong enough to do the right thing before they were sick and in pain.

How good is our local vet, being so thorough and careful!

Poor pups had interesting busy lives and were cared for at the end. Too short, but still a life.

  4. Latest report in the Tele says the owner was fined recently for having unregistered dogs. I wonder what brought these dogs to Coucil's attention then? I hope the police/authorities find a way to make a strong example of this owner, if there's a history of complaints.

Poor jogger. One bite by a SWF is painful enough, I can't imagine being mauled like that.

  5. So sorry Jane. The hole in your heart is not proportionate to the size of the dog. Micky and Maggot will have a great time together biting groomers!

Strangely I miss Maggot so much, more than a bitey scraggly little monster could deserve, surely.

Lucky Micky to have found you when he needed you.

  6. So sorry - Toby might need some friendly dogs to play with for a while.

The loveliest most dog friendly slug/dog at our training is a Staffy (PB) and the dodgiest used to be a GSD but since she stopped coming (now breeding nervy pups) the least trustworthy is a mini poodle!

The oval where my nephews play soccer has signs up saying there's a study being made of dogs at the park and it's very likely they'll be banned due to people not picking up poo (they have to go over the fields before play) and anti-social dogs causing fights. So sad, because there are also many good dogs and owners enjoying the chance to be together :(

  7. I've never ever forgotten this.

    Me either.

I'll never forget the lovely atmosphere in the DOL waiting room, with the muffins and hot chocolate.

I'll never lose the image of the dogs huddled under Jed's bed. Heartbreaking :(

And I'll always have the most immense respect for Jed.

(and keep giving torches and sometimes smoke alarms in secret Santa packages)

Three years. Lovely to see puppies keep happening and life is going on :)

Best wishes to your family and friends too Jed, they were pretty cool to a bunch of mad dog people in cyberspace!

  8. He's snoring happily (Sammy, not OH).

Robertsons Putty, linseed oil based, actually it smells quite nice and edible!

Puppup has eaten so much wood lately these little bits shouldn't matter. He's taken over some of Stevie's old hardwood off cuts, that she chewed smooth 7 years ago. Good timber is worth the investment...
