  1. Ive been following this thread since the start, poor little Jak. Makes me nervous about de-sexing my pup. It's crazy how fast it all happened, I wonder whats actually the cause all of it all?. Good luck at the vet tomorrow.
  2. Back from the vet. Turns out the lump is a “histiocytoma,” a common benign tumor which will eventually go away by itself. ... So that's a relief.. he only charged me $30 for the consult too which I was pleased about
  3. Thanks, He is a 6 mouth old French Bulldog. It doesn't look like a wart, or a cist. It's more just a raised lump with no edges.... Thanks for the concern, hopefully it's nothing. Will post the reply tonight.
  4. Well, My dog has had a lump on his neck for quite a number of weeks. At first I thought it was just a bit of a graze from another dogs tooth or something. But after a number of weeks it's not going away..... it's a little smaller that a 5 cent coin. .. We have tried to squeeze it a few times but nothing comes out, it doesn't appear to be full of anything like an absess. It's more of a hard lump with no hair on it or around it... Ive been trying to take a photo to post on here but my camera is not the best and I can't get a decent shot.. Doesn't bother him at all, but it has changed shape and got a little bigger which has got me really worried .. Point of the story is. Booked in for the vet tomorrow at 4.. Wish us luck.
  5. I don't understand how somebody would think that is an intelligent thing to do. I have seen plenty of people do it, and on all occasions the dog jumps up and/or tries to bite the persons face... Not a very good habit to teach a puppy...
  6. I feed Advance puppy growth and have done since I got my pup... I was a bit of a sucker, went into the pet supply store and asked what they recommend.. I can't remember EXACTLY what the guy told me, but he spoke to me for a good 5 minutes and convinced me it was the best for my pup. Haven't had any probs so far and he seems to like it. But after reading up on different dry food I woudn't mind switching him to something else soon...
  7. Thank's for your replys. I guess I may have been a bit nieve thinking because I couldn't see any fleas he didn't have any.. I went and bought Advantix and gave him an early dose, and also some new dog shampoo with tea tree oil which is ment to be good for miner skin irritations That was Thursday, and he's fine now, no longer scratching or irritated.... So maybe he was getting bitten/ had fleas?.....
  8. Ive noticed in the last week or so that my pup has itchy skin... He doesn't have flea's (not that Ive seen) and is current with his flea treatment, But lately he will come up to me and I'll give him a rub and a scratch and he will go all stiff and funny like it is the best thing in the world. He has only started doing this in the last two weeks so it's not really normal behavior for him to find it THAT orgasmic.. He has some red on his skin, and I have also caught him going around in circles trying to bite his leg, which he will bite into when he catches it... Are their any products I can buy to see if it relieves him a bit? I was thinking maybe a medicated dog shampoo, at the moment he gets a bath once every two weeks. I don't think it's the current shampoo or anything as we haven't introduced him to anything new.. and like I said he has only started doing this in the last week or so...
  9. Im a paranoid mum. I cut the necks up into bite sized portions for my pup.
  10. Thanks for your answer. This is my first French Bulldog (he's 5 months) Im already stressing about having my first summer with him and how he is going to handle the heat!
  11. Would French Bulldogs be on the same level as Pugs? Ive been wondering that, or would Frenchies be more sensitive than Pugs when it comes to heat stress and breathing problems etc?
  12. why would you want a book when you have DOL? ;)
  13. Hi, My pups 15 weeks old and Im having issues with collars. At the moment he doesn't wear one around the house because whenever I put it on him he scratches and scratches at it. Not at the annoyance of it I don't think, it seems to irritate his skin and the scratching leaves the underside of his neck red and sore looking. I have been using a puppy collar when we take him out walking etc which is only about 1cm thick and really light weight, but he has pretty much grown out of that now so I bought him a spiffy new collar off ebay which is a little thicker and leather which I really wanted him getting used to wearing ALL the time but I don't want him doing any damage to himself with the scratching. I have tried a few diffrent collars made of diffrent materials and diffrent sizes etc but they all seem to have the same effect. Do I have an extra sensitive puppy? Or am I just being too over protective by taking it off him too soon after I put it on and when the scratching begins?

    Puppy Pee

Well my puppy is pretty much toilet trained now. Most of my yard is outside paving and he is still learning to go in the particular area where I direct him. So my question is: Does anybody have any tips on what to add to that bucket of water to eliminate the stains and smell? At the moment Im having to scrub at least every second day and just using a little bit of dishwashing liquid which I know probably isnt the best idea. thanks in advance!
  15. hello, My puppy is 11 weeks old and also bites and nips at hands and anything else he can grab hold of when he is in one of his "moods". My partner and I have been using a really simple method that seems to work for us and our pup, when he gets over excited and starts doing this we yell "Ah Ah!!" and put both our palms up in front of him. He stops biting straight away and then we reinforce it by giving him a toy and ignore him for a bit until he calms down and forgets that he wants to bite and grab at our hands. Hope this helps!
  16. Hello, I thought I would add to this thread instead of starting a new one. I pick up my puppy on thursday! Very excited, he will be 10 and a bit weeks old when I get him. Im currently looking for a puppy school to take him to on the Gold Coast, QLD and was wondering if anybody could recommend anywhere ?. Also at what age do they need their last shot? And will he be okay to take out in public ie: parks/beach etc at 10/11 weeks or only after he has had last shot>? Thanks in advance.
  17. I was in a situation a few years ago where my ex boyfriend rescued a female bull terrier. She was around one or two years old but had basically been kept in a small garden shed and had been abused for most her life. I came to absolutely love that dog.But the amount of issues that dog had, she was very obsessive, with absolutely anything and EVERYTHING, marks on the floor and walls including shadows, light switches (she would jump and try and bite them and would do it for hours if you didn't stop her) she would spin around in circles and no matter how hard you tried to calm her down and make her stop she couldn't help herself it was so sad. She couldn't be trusted with certain people or dogs. I put this behavior down to her being abused but have since heard lots of other stories which I guess relate to the type of breed she was. This doesn't really help with your question, but I thought I would share that. I generally just distracted her and kept her calm until she had forgotten what she was obsessing about..
