Forcing the bitchc to go back into the box and forcing her to lay there and feed the pups, when they are not restless, crying or dehydrated is unwarranted and quite frankly boarders on being cruel to the bitch.
The fact that she has healthy, content babies speaks volumes for her care of her pups.
She's being shuffled from lounge to laundry and back agaid and clearly this is upsetting her to some degree. Pick a spot, stick with it and have a bit of faith in the bitch to raise her babies
The pups are only 10 days old - not 3 weeks old. Sure she is a bitch that wants to be out and about earlier - that's fine. I am just saying that she should be taken in to the feed the pups at some sort of regular intervals or she will stay away too long. The pups may (and I say may)start to slow up on their weight gain and the bitch may start to lose her milk.
Most of Australia has been experiencing higher than average temps. No fluid intake for long periods throughout the day would worry me.

I have just made her go back in the box, and laid her down for the pups to feed, (she hadnt been in since before 7am) I had to 'make' her....the pups then fussed and swapped teats but are now having a drink. She is now staying there while they feed.
How often should I make sure that she is feeding them?
Agree with Persephone every 2 hours. Take her in and make her lay down to feed her pups - they still need her! Not only that they will become dehydrated. She needs to feed regularly to keep her milk supply sufficient for them. Pups at this age sometime start fussing around on the teats due to the delay in the milk letdown which can seem to take ages. Generally, once the milk lets down the dam will settle and let her pups feed.
Good luck with her and bubs :)

Oh no! So terribly sorry
This is just such a shocking thing to have happened....
RIP sweet Buddy

The pups are less than 24hrs old, and its going to be 40*c plus today, and for the next 5 or so days...I dont have air con.
what do you think? thanks
I used semi frozen hot water bottles - four of them during the heat of the day. Two in with puppies and two in the freezer. I used a pillow case wrapped twice around as I found towels too thick. They would fight over lying on the bottles :D
1 week old
Around 5 weeks

That is one adorable puppy. Love Harry!

If the pup is gaining weight well and doesn't seem hungry, I always try to stimulate a bowel motion just in case. A good clear out sometimes helps.
Also as you mentioned he could be hot. Partially frozen hot water bottles wrapped in a pillow cases are great and the pups will fight over them :)

I understand it is preferable to train your dog to loose leash walk :)
Some of us just want to walk our dogs and it be an enjoyable experience for both of us.
Most of our beagles are great on a flat collar or check chain and we allow them to sniff some of the time as they are scent hounds.
However, my 9 year old male is inpossible to walk without his sporn harness. I absolutely love it!
Just my preference as I dislike head halters :D

I have my dogs on my home and contents policy - the company has covered 2 c-sections with no problems. You need to hunt around. I don't agree that they shouldn't cover your costs. If you have full private health isurance you are covered for pregnancy etc so why shouldn't the same apply for pet insurance?
If you don't mind me asking who are you with?
Fabulous :)

Thanks Aziah for the info, I am taking her temp 3 times a day now..she is qetting quite swollen now and becoming very very sooky (which is unlike her)
The vet and myself are banking on whelping either Sunday night or Monday night
I'd also suggest taking it if you get up during the night....
-
Good luck to all of you
It's so exciting...and scary isn't it?
Same as with Aziah, we've always had labor start within 12-24 hours of the temp dropping into the mid to high 36c. :)

Wow, that is amazing! Well done

you know you are members of a internet forum not royalty and i want nothing to do with online fights pointless. But i wont pretend i did something i havnt. the info on this forum is great but the attitude of some seems to be lacking.
If we are so horrible then why are you here??? I am sorry about this venting but I am sick of people joining KNOWING to well what it is like here and how passionate people on here about their dogs and that there are some VERY experienced people on here and some members that have been here since the beginning and then chuck a hissy and insult everyone..
No we do not think we are royalty but people who have more experience then you and have been members FOR A VERY LONG TIME deserve more respect then what they are given. I am new myself only been here since May but I have not started a fight with anyone since being here or got into a heated argument throwing insults around. I am not even fighting with you right now I am stating my opinion about the respect level given to founding members..
Rant finished sorry :)
Ridiculous! Whether people have been members here 5 minutes or 5 years, people are entitled to their opinion and to post them unless they are breaking the forum rules IMO

Baldev beagles had a wonderful Ekka day on Thursday with a big entry of 81 beagles.
We won baby bitch, minor puppy, puppy, RU bitch challenge, dog challenge and BOB. All kids of my beloved Macey except for the baby bitch who is her double granddaughter. :D

As you sure there is a good size litter onboard I guess it really doesn't matter.
One of my daughter's girls looked like she was carrying at least 4-5 pups and she didn't xray. Cindy surprised us with 2 huge puppies. The first got stuck and couldn't be saved. The second was also stuck but a wee bit smaller but survived. In that case it would have been great to be prepared for just two large puppies.
