  1. I was actually standing about 2 meters away from you at Durack at gundog and heavy breeds. Your group judge for that day is a friend so I popped down there to say hello. I was going to say hello to you and ask if I could have a pat but you were surrounded.

Oh Ash you should have, people dont want to talk to me they want to talk to the dog!! lol

    He's a nice looking dog :(

  3. No Ashnali, its not a dig at you I didnt even notice the caps,( my clumsy fingers!!) I couldnt downsize them all and post them here, so I worded my post as it was! lol!

My hubby only got Day 13 and 14th August and we have tracked down a few and sent the photos, they are just snaps, but he has a whizz bang camera he bought and snaps eveything ( its one of those zoom ones that can catch you across theother side of the universe type!!)

BUT where are yours I would love to have a look, sorry I missed the post.

Anyway from your photos i have seeen before they would never be a GOOD as yours!!

    :banghead:

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm just a little precious at the moment. :(

You have already seen my photos on facebook. People tagged you in them. They have 'www.thepetproject.com.au' watermarked on them. :banghead:

  4. Most are big in size AS WELL.

Hmmm... okay, I'm hormonal at the moment so I tend to read things wrong around this time, but I hope this isn't a dig at me. I just noticed the 'as well' bit is stressed.

I posted 647 images to facebook that people could right click and save and use as they wanted as long as they didn't remove them watermark (courtesy to have the photo, courtesy to leave the watermark on.)

Anyway, if it's not a dig, my apologies.

  5. The rental market is ridiculous around here. My Chiropractor and his fiancee rented a local small 40 yr old cottage on a main road and were told they had to leave....and were led to believe the house was to be sold. They were paying $500/week. Fortunately the only pets they had were 2 chooks, who have gone back to live with one set of parents, while they moved in with the other set of parents. 2 weeks after moving out of this house it was put up for rent again...at $620/week. Good tenants of 5 years, who had spent their own money repainting the house, were turfed out for no other reason than the Agent wanted to put up the rent by a wopping 25%. They have since found out, via a former neighbour, that the landlord, who lives overseas, knew nothing about them being turfed out of the house so the rent could be increased. :o

This has just happened to us. I had a feeling that we were being turfed as we were paying $500 a week rent in an area that rental prices have soared (our rent should probably have been about $600 a week.)

2.5 years, paid rent sometimes 2 months in advance, looked after the place and the owner wants us out and then tries to claim nearly the entire bond. Still going through RTA to deal with that one.

We were very lucky though, at the time we had to move, the house at the back door of our photo studio came up for rent. A whooooole lot cheaper, but has four bedrooms and is closer to the city and we literally roll out of bed and we are in the studio, also closer to the kids' school... best thing, same owner as the studio and he loves us. We were approved within three hours (dogs are still outdoor dogs though. I did ask about coming inside but he said no.) Can't really complain though - it was the only house we applied for this time around. Last time we applied for over 20 homes and were constantly knocked back because of the dogs. I have to admit, I did consider rehoming the dogs back then because we needed a house and simply couldn't get one. I didn't want to be homeless when I was heavily pregnant with twins and had two small kids and four dogs.

  6. PIS was the Dalmatian and BPIS was the very popular Corgi

The Dalmatian's antics with the rosette were priceless.

    Sure was.

The Goldie was handled by my sister. Her name is Chipala Dreams Come True - owned by Ros and Lyn Fergusson. She's only 20 months old and winning best of breed finished off her title so to win the group was just awesome. We were all cheering like crazy.

Photos of most of the dogs from today (not just the winners) will be up on my facebook either tonight or tomorrow depending on how well behaved my kids are.

  7. Ive seen people do far worse things for the sake of a ribbon, Ive seen someone bring their bitch with very young pups still suckling to a show in a trailer. I have also wittnesed someone hand feeding puppies only a few days old out of a basket on the font seat of their car at a show.

    I'm not disagreeing with you.

I feel that if the canine councils feel they need a rule like this, there should be better rules such as (this is just off the top of my head)... vet cert stating valid reasons puppies were weaned early, vet clearance for new mums, new mums can not be currently feeding pups when competing due to chance of passing infections to pups...

obviously not a perfect solution but better than one hard and fast rule that doesn't fit everyone and all circumstances.

  8. Well have to disagree with this, here is a pic of my bitch 10 weeks after whelping 11 puppies all surviving, winning BISS beating well over 200 other Rottweilers, the young lady holding her is my daughter 10 weeks after giving birth to her first child. These 2 girls also competed 4 weeks prior to this when her pups were only 6 weeks old and took out Reserve CC & Best Aust Bred In Show at another specialty show. Before someone jumps up and down about this the puppies were just about hand reared and weaned at 3 weeks as she didnt have enough milk this why she bounced back so quickly.

You're proving the point of why some people think the rule is needed.

You had to wean your puppies out of need, however there is the suggestion that people are weaning puppies early just so they can rush them back into the show ring.

  9. It's when you show two dogs of the same breed at the same time. It doesn't matter what sexes they are, however the more similar they are in appearance, the better it is. The judge is looking for uniformity in the dogs as well as how they work together. This event also shows how skilled the handler is.

There is also a 'team' class. Teams are three or more dogs exhibited together. Five is the largest team I have seen. From memory it was 5 corgis.

  10. Brisbane City Council

When you find a dog you are required to call up and log the details with the council on 3403 8888

They will ask if you can hold the dog, or if you can take it to a pound or the RSPCA, or if you need someone to collect it. If you choose the last option, you will be waiting possibly 24 hours.

If you're really trying your hardest to find the owner, you will also call the RSPCA hotline and as many local vets as possible.

Finders also have the ability to upload photos to the council and also the rspca.

There is not a requirement to take dogs to the pound in Brisbane.

Bitches and general specials will be posted later tonight... probably around 9 or 10pm depending on how well behaved my children are and how much work they let me do.
