  1. Any person or group that accepts donations(whether you ask or not), fund raise for whatever purpose, even if it is going straight to your vet account is required by law to have a CFN, this I found out right at the beginning when I first started to do rescue for jacks as I had an appointment with the Gaming and Licensing board and they came out and explained it all to me. If you don't have that then anybody can be reported to this board.

And with that you are required to have a Committee of 3 people, bank account, constitution and when you apply you have to state who your auditor is and have a letter from them.

When you apply for Tax exempt and Charity Status the committee increases and also you need an extra bank account for the donations to go in.

I would think the ATO would also be interested if you are receiving money.

  2. Because they have a 16d they are a rescue group as such and when taking dogs from the pounds they do not have to pay for them.

Yes I agree the problem was that they probably didn't do a meeting of the two dogs to see if they would get along, which is always needed, even when I have people coming to adopt I ask them to bring along their own dog to make sure they get along before allowing the adoption to go ahead.

They keep saying they refer their carer adoption applications onto other groups, which groups are they, do anybody on here take dogs from them?

The difference I can see with their carers and the way I work is - once a dog goes into care with them if there is a problem they don't want to know and the person is left with the dog to do whatever, mine I am always there and if a problem comes about then the dog comes straight back to me for further assessment.

Steve the problem with us working with them from what I can see is that most proper rescue groups have already been into the pounds and assessed most of these dogs and realised that they shouldn't be saved for whatever reason but as somebody else said they take them all no matter what, which is the biggest problem.

  3. I certainly have never had any offers of carers from them.

Had a call the other day from a lady that PR were looking for a dog for her and apparently I has rescued it from Hawkesbury the day before and she told me that she would send one of the people from PR to collect it.

Well you know what I said, she is under my care and you deal with me, wasn't happy, still insisted on sending that person around.

I know of one jack that was listed on their site that they were asking for donations to help save it when I actually had it in my care and let them know, will never know if any funds were collected for that jack, as haven't received any.

I know through the DLG you have to have all your carers listed, wonder if they do as there are plenty of them.

I believe that some of their adoptions are actually still at the pound and go straight from the pound to their new homes without the people meeting them, look at the situation with the bull dog type that was transported to Victoria and the wrong person collected it and as far as I know has never been seen since.

  4. Yes they can have CFN which allows them to fund raise but that is not charity status. You have charity status when you are approved by the ATO and have Tax deductible and are able to issue tax receipts for all donations.

the dog was released by Blacktown pound and the guy in the main office of the council apparently said you either love them or hate them but I am sure if official letters were sent to him and someone higher then something could be done.

  5. As a registered charity they have to have their books audited. But I have also asked this question why is there so much play on donations on their many pages when they quite often organised an adoption without knowing the dog and the dog comes straight from the pound, another risk.

It wasn't that long ago that they were asking for a donation to help a jack which I had already rescued and they had nothing to do with it, never know if they received any donation for that dog because it was never forcoming if there was.

I know what you are say Bartok but they have taken too many dogs out that should not be rehomed, I have myself rescued Jacks which some would have left behind but I also stated to the pound if they don't improve them I will do the right thing by them and put them to sleep, I won't ship them off to another group or a carer that has no idea what to do or how to handle the situation like they do.

  6. Everybody should not be surprised with what this group does, we have heard it all before, I was at the pound today when a call came in complaining about this dog being advertised as good with kids etc. The girl at the counter also said she had received a call the day before about another dog and the story goes on. Apparently the council's hands are tied because the gentleman in charge sees no wrong will allowing these types of dogs out, I questioned the fact that isn't the council liable for allowing dog aggressive dogs being released as I know Hawkesbury and Renbury do not allow dogs that they assess in that way.

And as we all know there are dogs that should not be rehomed because they are a danger.

I feel sorry for the many people that offer their homes and adopt from this group and receive an unsuitable dog which only gives Rescue a bad name. And especially for this lady to have lost her little dog.

Pound Rounds wish you would clean you act up as you are giving all rescue a bad name.

  7. I would be referring it to the Companion Animal's because if the dogs and cats are chipped then it is against the law for her to be placing them into another home.

If they can't do anything I would be contacting your local pound and talking to somebody in authority regarding and see what they have to say, but talk to somebody in charge.

What is the facebook page because we could all go on and put comments saying this is against the law.

  8. I totally agree, baby steps and not bull in a china shop approach. the staff at pounds have enough to cope with ie the public without us not working with them.

I have always found if you work with them and not against them you get a lot further and maybe it isn't as far as you might like but eventually you will get most of the way, and it will never be 100% but if we are able to start and save some then it is better then it was.

  9. I know in the pass Campbelltown has not had a good experience with rescue groups.

But I must say the opposite when I last rang them I received a good response and the gentleman that I spoke with was willing to work with me.

I think in this instance you will get further with honey then complaining and having a go at them because of their previous run with rescue groups.

I hope they vote in favour but then it will also be upto the each group to work with them and not against them.

  10. Not sure why this discussion is still going as I have offered to do a thread, end of story.

But what has worried me from the beginning and not sure how we all are going to stop this is this listing and the part where they are asking for donations when they don't actually have the dogs and may never get them. To my way of thinking this is just a site collecting donations for nothing, you only have to look at their site to see it is all made up of asking for donations. For instant the jack is on their that I have rescued, also the greyhound, wonder if there were donations taken for them. Sorry but it all smells to me.
