  1. do it. 1st pup with the kids was a whippet. I was pregnant and had a 2 year old 2nd dog was an older Puppy, a White German Shepherd. I was Pregnant again and had a 2 and 4 year old. Couldnt be a better situation. Our dogs are mostly indoors and both are crate trained, but we dont use the crate any more. My kids are now 6 months, 2 and 5. You will manage. Supervision and training for everyone. Just make sure you get a fully health tested lab to avoid heartbreak down the track.
  2. Hey Julie, Can you add a catagory for catch poles Sorry, I dont knit, I dont even know how to fix a sock. Hope you have lots of entries, the craft fair will be fantastic!
  3. here ladies, if you are in to art and craft and need to explore your creative side during the week you can make a catch pole. http://forum.sullivansline.com/cgi-bin/ult...ic;f=6;t=000338
  4. I wonder if he is a day napper and night prowler. Is that the normal instinct of a dog? Thanks BnS, sorry about your arse :p I have a bit of a personal issue of laughing when people take a stack ok, quick search and yes they are nocturnal. http://www.leadingsheep.com.au/tracksandtr...Sect%201_7b.pdf Wild dogs are nocturnal hunters and unless food is particularly scarce they won’t be visible during daylight hours. As a consequence, without careful monitoring it can be difficult to determine how serious your wild dog problem is. Monitoring will also allow you to determine the effectiveness of control programs and identify likely trapping sites. Signs of a wild dog population include well-worn beats around their home range boundary, footprints, and stressed livestock. (Refer to Part 1; Section 1 for a list of common indicators provided by Don Sallway).

  6. And the award for post of the day goes to..................
  7. No one spotted the doodee, as they were too busy getting in to position, however we have a few breeder members and very experienced volunteers that are convinced its a boy due to the frame and bone. So, the 'he', could possibly be a she, and prove us wrong? Who knows. Better than saying 'it'
  8. This gave me the idea of relocating the kennel if that's possible? Is there a more desirable section of his area that would make it easier to catch him. I'd say he'd still make use of it if it's moved to a more accessable area. Just a thought anyway. Good luck to you all with the next attempt. Good idea, he may not cope being so close to the trucks people and factories though. He is actually safer where he is, just harder to get to. Its this huge industrial area with a paddock oasis smack bang in the middle of it all. Thanks Sir WJ.
  9. He had to make his kennel right in the middle of all that scrub!! Bloody Shepherd Control Freaks. When my girl is outside, she sits on the outdoor table so she can spy, her grandma next door is on her outdoor table also. The two of them sit on their tables and look across the backyards at each other longing to play ball. Its the most ridiculous thing you have ever seen. Thanks BnS, you are fantastic
  10. so? Come on, come on come on! I need to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  11. Those on the email, dont be a ME and forget to reply all
  12. thankyou so much. We will let you know the details over the next few days, but dont put any plans aside as the situation could change at any stage

  14. OO !!! Does this mean they're going to have another crack at it ?? I assumed we only had them for the one appointment. We nearly got him yesterday with those chaps, so it would be great if we could try again with all the knowledge we gained from the experience yesterday. We can use them again, we need to have an online meeting with all you guys to work out plan B. Jan will be consulting them again and we will go from there
  15. ok, sorry. Bit thingy about it all as we cant post every discussion and every consultation on here as it would take a whole day, however all the the 'suggestions' put forward have been discussed earlier in the thread. It would help if people read what we have already discussed. We are not bunch of hot headed nut jobs running across the countryside trying to save the world, we are a committed rescue who are using trained professionals in order to remove a dog of our breed from a crap situation. FYI I read the whole thread. back a few pages someone said the dog came from a closed factory so why not find who was at the factory who fed the dog and see if they can come call him. dont know where the dog is from, it was a theory as was being dumped. Koe, my frustration was not aimed at you. Thankyou for your advice, catchers suggested the method come somewhere after step 2. We have access to a trap. This area has grassland, factory walls, ally ways and cyclone fencing. Any constructive new advice is very welcomed and we will pass it on to our catcher guys. We are not using a paw trap.

  17. Krislin, this method was the first one discussed but due to the failure rate after consulting with 2 businesses we decided to push it down the list. I cant help but feel you are sitting back waiting for us to fail again as you seem to know best and if you had read the thread or even pmd one of us you would realise the amount of time, discussion and professional consultation that has gone in to this effort.
  18. We had 2 professionals out yesterday, it was their method. They almost had him as he was cornered but they missed one hole. It was so close, and if they had seen that one hole he would be caught. We wanted to try the least invasive method. It wasnt a waste of time and we followed the advice of and were assisted by trained professionals.
  19. its not about the defeat today, I feel sick about the fact he will be removed from absolute doggy heaven. Personal creek, bunnies, butchers, kennel, grassland. Also the amazing commitment of all these people we dont even know giving up their time to make sure this boy has a chance. Its overwhelming. Also our group members who drove across the country side with trailors, took kids etc. His time is limited where he is but I am so worried about his future. Thankyou so much to the wonderful people I met today. Your hearts are so big. We are 100%commited to rehabilitating this boy back in to normal life and know you have been, and will be a big part of the journey. Just cant stop thinking.
  20. I understand completely. Spirit gets bored very easily & the seat belts & hand break have suffered as a consequence of leaving her in the car by herself just that wee bit too long. Didnt you know WSR has its own Maternal Child and Dog Health nurse for these purposes
  21. yep agreed. I never use sitters or care (mainly due to their health stuff) but I have a trustworthy mate who offered this morning. I was really stressing about the weather and them being out in the middle of industryville. In car entertainment has its limits, especially idle weather is looking good http://www.weatherzone.com.au/vic/melbourne/tullamarine
  22. I have a sitter for my 2 and 5 year old tomorrow So its just the baby, Easily entertained and right up your ally Bilbo!! Let hope the rain holds off!!!
