  1. Coco is our 6yr old MF who is currently with us in the townhouse where body corporate has refused permission to have a dog (hence why we are breaking our lease & found the new premises). The elderly boy you are prob talking about - Bobby unfortunately passed away May 13th just gone. Bobby The Iggy
  2. Latest & LAST development!! Great news!! S & I are moving to a lovely 2 bed house in Eastlakes on 6th Aug where we can have Coco AND another dog (IF we choose). We went to the open home for this property last weekend AND actually met with the owners (owner occupiers who had bought elsewhere so renting out their current property for investment) and they owned two labs. Lovely people, and had no qualms with pets. The place even has a doggie door at the rear & is fully secure with a lovely undercover pergola & grassed area. So pleased!! The landlords are looking for long term renters which suits S & I to a tee. So all going well in the next few weeks months, we have discussed perhaps fostering an iggy as we miss Bobby so much and would love to help the breed that we have fallen in love with..
  3. Thanks Dogmad. We are also looking in this area. Such a lovely suburb, and great location. Well an update - Scott & I are viewing approx 6 x properties tomorrow (all of which are pet friendly). We viewed an apartment at Alexandria on Wed night and will be submitting applications as it was very suitable (the front door even had a doggy door). The agency I work for have recently had a property come onto their books at Petersham (It is the agency principal's sister) which has been dog approved for VERY reasonable money ($430/wk), which is $170 under our budget!! Am having a look at this also next week, and all go well and if the property is suitable we will be offered the place!!
  4. Latest update... Well, the meeting got canned yesterday, and postponed till this morning. Outcome of meeting - she was very impressed with our agency BUT is giving the current agent 1wks grace AND if they dont find a *suitable* tenant in that time then she will give the management to our agency. In the meantime I viewed a 'pet friendly' apartment in Alexandria today that was very suitable and will submit applications in the interim 'just in case' this other one doesnt come off. I emailed some more 'pet friendly' enquiries today on some other properties that have come up.. Now I just have to either way, wait 1 week & still potentially find something in the interim... Grrrrrr.. I guess things cannot ever be too easy!! Oh and just to add, dont understand this *loyalty* when the current agency had a tenant in the premises previously that caused $10,000 worth of damage/insurances claims as they apparently 'trashed' the place...
  5. Hey Di, I am thinking of getting a scooter. If you move to Chippendale, a scooter would be ideal as the second vehicle for you. Only around $3k brand new. I would so consider this. I think it is a really good idea. Petrol costs are minimal, as are maintenance & rego.. Plus parking is a breeze!!
  6. Getting very excited, PLUS anxious about the meeting with the Landlord this morning. The ppty mgr is going to have me sit in the mtg for the first 5-10mins so the landlord can meet me.. My tummy is doing flop flops.. Mtg is at 10.30am.... I feel like 'Blackboard' from Mr Squiggle.. Hurry up!!
  7. Yep, I currently catch the train.. Takes me 20mins to walk to the station, then prob about 35-40mins from Parra to Museum thereabouts!! Just work loooong hrs..
  8. Did a mass enquiry (about 60-70) out the other day through Domain just asking for pet friendly.. There were probably about two or three which gives room for back up!
  9. We are trying not to move too far out of the city as I currently dont have a car, and Scott has the biggest shit fight on the M4/Parramatta Rd most mornings & every evening, which even from Ashfield leaves him with 1hr grid lock traffic. We also want to minimise the amount of time that Coco is by herself during the day. Currently we both leave for work at 5.45am in the morning & dont often get home till 7-7.30pm most nights. I really dont think that would be fair on her, hence why Chippendale is our current pick. I would literally walk to work, and it is only 5mins from Scott's work outside of peak hr traffic, thus also avoiding the nightmare that the M4 has become. Has anyone notice how bad the M4/Parramatta Rd is even on a weekend now??? I am horrified!! Went to a baby shower a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon (shower started at 2pm in Lane Cove but we needed something along Parramatta Rd along the way) and it literally was peak hr gridlock traffic.. They really need to do something with that road. It is horrendous!!
  10. The area we are looking to live is Chippendale/Alexandria roughly.. This is close to Scott's work without the hassle of an hr drive minimum to commute each day. We are currently living in Nth Parra & peak hr traffic on the M4 even at 6am in the morning is a BITCH, including the peak hr commute at 6pm in the evening. Most of the properties I enquired about did not allow dogs, there were few & far between.. Working in the industry myself I understand that there are alot of re agencies/property managers that just dont want the hassle of tenants with dogs/cats so have their own 'policy' and that sometimes is NO PETS stipulated on all their properties even if the landlord said that it is ok in regards to pets. My last RE agency that I worked at was a prime example of this and they were PENRITH based!! Strata is another issue altogether.. BUT fortunately the property we are going for is a terrace, so is torrens title.. Phew.. The other agent that is advertising the property made a boo boo & put that it is 2 bathrooms, when it is only one. He has made a few mistakes regarding the property, so hopefully this puts fwd our case to manage & tenant the property altogether.. Fingers crossed.
  11. Thank you for your very kind & understanding words Skip!! They have certainly not gone unheard.. The latest update is that the older lady was very particular about the type of breed that she wanted and unfortunately (or fortunately for me as I was secretly hoping that she wouldnt take her) for Coco this has fallen through. I am very concerned as Scott has brought Coco home, which is a very risky thing to do. I have warned him about the repercussions but at $25/nt at the vet he seems to be willing to take the risk!! So, next waiting game is in regards to this rental property that we find out about on Tuesday. We are going to view the property this morning (this is through another agent altogether). Another thing that works in our favour is that we are ready to go to place a deposit, references cleared, etc. Whereas the other re agency would only just be starting to do their checks etc on Tuesday and prob not have a shortlist until Thurs. The other thing too is that I have left NUMEROUS msgs to enquire about the pet situation and heard nothing but from the other re agency. Something that will prob not look very favourable to the landlord and gives us a better chance. Next update will be Tues!! Thanks for sticking with it for this long. And hopefully we will be on the road to Coco having a forever home in a place where she is ALLOWED to be!!
  12. Thank you GR!! Means a lot to me, and even more to Coco!! She so deserves to be happy, content & loved in whatever forever home she finally settles in..
  13. The situation all round just sucks!! I have lost an iggy last month to old age, now I may potentially 'lose' Coco because of this stupid rental property that we originally signed up with. It has been a very testing full on week. Poor Coco is at a vet at this point in time & either way may go to a temp arrangement till we can move or go to a forever home where at least she will have some permanency and probably some really good attention as I dont believe this older lady works. I just want the poor little mite to have a good situation whatever the outcome!! I am sick of pulling her from pillar to post so the saying goes..
  14. I dont understand what you mean? Coco is boarding at the moment and when Scott dropped her off he probably discussed with the girls at the vet that if there was anyone looking for a 'forever home' dog then they are welcome to suggest Coco due to the circumstances that we are in. This older lady's son rang & enquired. The vet staff rang Scott to discuss understanding what our situation was and he authorised that they could advise the older lady's son of Coco.
  15. So the latest update is that our Ppty Mgr is meeting with the owner on Tuesday 10.30am.. The owner is keen to meet with us to discuss rental of the property so this is VERY good news. On the other side of things Coco has had an enquiry about her at the vet. An older lady who has recently lost her dog to old age is going to view Coco either tonight or tomorrow, and if she appeals to her then Coco MAY just have a forever home!! Either outcome I will be happy with. If I can bring an older lady happiness again by having Coco as her new companion that would be wonderful. If this doesnt happen but we get accepted for the property I will also be happy with this. I just want Coco to have a permanent home & be happy where she is.. Will send a further update once I have one..
  16. THANK YOU!! We have our 'in house' property mgr working on the case. He met with the owner of the property I saw tonight, and is discussing further tomorrow. A 3 bed terrace toward the city!! *Fingers crossed*
  17. Hi Steve!! Thank you for your no. I will give you a call IF things fall through for a POTENTIAL rental property we have found. We will find out tomorrow if we have been accepted.. The property will be available in about 4wks, which gives us chance to give 21 days notice at our current place.. Will post an update tomorrow once I have heard about the property!!
  18. Ok, well we dropped Coco off at her local vet last night to board until we have something a little more longer term. She will be there till Sunday, then another DOLer has very very very kindly (I am so grateful to this lovely person) offered to have Coco until we find a pet friendly place ourselves!! Coco will be on 110 acres (which she is so used to as she was just recently on 100 acres) where she will most likely feel very at home. I was up till 11.20pm last night (I get up at 5am every morning) on Domain looking for 'pet friendly' places. I seriously must have emailed approx 60-70 places enquiring if pet friendly or not. There were about 2-3 places that advertised pet friendly so as you can imagine they were hotly & frantically emailed too!! I havent heard back from Ronda, but as I have heard the poor love is back working full time and is extremely busy right now, so once Coco is transported to the new place I will email to let her know the good news.. So now it is just following up on the RE agents & a bit of a waiting game!! Fingers crossed we have the situation sorted..
  19. I have emailed Ronda from Petrescue/Paws where I rescued Coco from.. Hoping she will point the way to a temporary option.. Fingers crossed...
  20. I would definitely consider either option. Coco has never had any ailments in the 5yrs that she has been with me. In fact she is the most easy care dog I have owned. If either of these options are viable I would be more than happy to organise Coco to either of these places, plus pay for her food/personal care (worming, bedding, etc) and any vet bills IF she may require any.
  21. Right, as you can imagine I am quite desperate as these things do take time.. I do understand that people work full time. I also understand that I need to put a sense of urgency on the matter as I need to get something sorted sooner rather than later. As described in the previous link I posted. Coco is a 6yr old female mini foxie - de-sexed & micro-chipped. She has lived with other dogs in the past with no major issues (lived with 4 x other dogs on property - ranging from MFT, Iggy, X Kelpie & Rottie). I am really not sure if this 'supposed' fight with the other dog is a one off. I also dont really know if the 'supposed' fight is an attempt for us to remove Coco from the premises as we keep getting conflicitng stories as to why she needs to be removed from the 'witch' of a sister's boyfriend supposedly having allergies (when there are also 5 other dogs on the premises, but Coco is the only cause apparently), to this apparent 'fight'. We can only take the person's word that this is the case, although it isnt very reliable given the circumstances with the sister. I rescued Coco through Pet Rescue back in April 05 so as you can imagine I feel like absolute shit right now & sick to the stomach.. This was not supposed to happen...
  22. ANYONE!! I am really quite desperate. My last alternative is to surrender her to a shelter...
  23. Things have reached a head with Coco... Apparently, she had a fight with another dog at Scott's mum's place and we have been given the ultimatum that she has to go... Link to previous thread posted about Our Predicament We are looking at breaking our lease & finding a 'written consent to have 1 x dog' place, but this takes time, and just awaiting a cheque for a decent amount of funds to cover the moving/potential of also paying two rents for a couple of weeks until tenants are found for our old place. Has anyone put their dog into long term boarding around the Sydney/surrounds areas? What are the costs associated? Anyone know any foster carers that might be able to care for Coco until we receive our funds (supposed to be pre end of financial year for tax purposes) and can find another place? Scott is picking her up today... We cannot have her at the house as we are on our last warning until we have a 2 wk termination issued for having breeched our tenancy agreement in regards to having a pet on the premises (Bobby, who has sinced passed away).
  24. Well I am glad it wasnt something more sinister such as a baiting, etc. Still not a nice way to go, poor lil man!! He is pain free now!!
  25. Thank you for your gorgeous words... Means alot to me!!
