  1. I'm just wondering......

The Pug Club donates Trophies and Sashes for the BOB, RUBOB, Dog CC, Bitch CC and Reserve CC's.

So what happens for breeds who don't have a breed club to donate or can afford to donate.

Does the RASV supply ribbons for the class winners and placegetters?

Do they have sashe/rosettes for those breeds that aren't donated?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Melbourne Royal has a Rosette for 1st Place in the class, Best of Breed and Puppy in Breed.

There is a sash for Reserve Challenges.

For 2nd and 3rd, it's only a red and white ribbon.

Seems a shame there is nothing given by the RASV for runner up in breed. Unless a breed club gives something for this award the second best dog in the breed gets nothing in recognition.

Sydney Royal has a sash for both Challenge Winners, Reserve Challenge Winners, Best of Breed and Runner Up Best of Breed. All class winners receive a rosette and placegetters a ribbon. There used to be a sash for Puppy of the Day winner as well but since they don't do that now, there isn't one... LOL

  4. I can't see the difference between being short-listed and a small number of assembled BOB winners being run for group. I personally would rather be retired from the ring so that I can spend more time getting my next class winner ready to go in.

Do you also consider it rude if only a small number of dogs are run for group?

  9. Hey guys! As most of you have seen by now, I have a gorgeous little guy who is coming up on 11 weeks of age this week. I have been trying to teach him the basics of standing without wiggling, gaiting alongside (he is very bouncy, trying to jump + run), he has been learning to be touched while standing and mouth touched.

I really need some guidance as to how to teach him, and what I should be teaching him? He is such a nice little guy and I want to give him the best chance I can, even for his first shows. :D He is also such a fast learner, I feel like if I knew how to go about it we might get there a bit quicker! :D

He is going really well with clicker training so far, but if you don't train with a clicker, I would still love to hear your training ideas/tips!

    - Also if anyone knows of show training classes anywhere near Dubbo, please let me know!

Practise, practise, practise and remember to try and make it fun!!!

    :D

  10. Yep, i've got a desexed male and an entire female - and they have tied (much to my horror!

I found that it is the female who harasses my male when she is in season. I usually only have to separated them when she is at the peak of her season.

The good thing is that if you do accidentally let them together and you get a tie, there will be no puppies!

It was a good learning tool for me, as I now have an entire dog.

My experience has taught me not to risk it when she is in season. As she can run off when they are tied and could damage the dog. Better safe then sorry!

Yes one of my bitches, when she is in season, harasses my neutered boy so much that I have to separate them... Poor buggar kept trying to mount her when she was no longer in season and she bit him!!!

  11. I have entered the 2 shows on Saturday at Taree this weekend. Today I got 1 number instead of the normal 2.

Are they only having one number for the whole weekend, or am I missing a number?

And does any one know the breed break down for the shows, because none were included with my numbers?

    Thank you

Be thankful you actually got your numbers. I have received nothing and had to ring the show secretary to find out if I was entered...

Hi....I'm driving up early Friday morning for the show and haven't received my numbers yet?

I was told when I rang that the numbers were posted on Monday. As Monday was a bank holiday and I think the post office doesn't work on bank holidays, I guess they didn't go anywhere till yesterday... I would think you will get yours tomorrow but as I am driving up tomorrow and my mail doesn't arrive till after 2pm, I will have to pick them up on the day...
