  1. Welcome Jo-Ann, I'm curious to hear the response, being a houseboat owner rather than a house owner has been a dream for a long, long time. Keep us posted!
  2. Thanks for the replies!!! Aren't fur coats chemical treated? Wouldn't that be poisonous to dogs? I'm still looking for a durable leather lead. I'd like something custom made as I'm looking for somethinig specific.
  3. Hi there, I’m looking for some rabbit skins/fox tails ect for my dogs. Does anyone know of any shop where I can get them around the Brisbane area or somewhere where I can order them? Also I’m looking for some unbreakable leather leads. Any ideas??? Thank you!!!
  4. Fifi, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!! Moonee Beach was fantastic!!! The caravan was great, the location, the beach - beautiful!!! We had a great week and will certainly go there again. The dogs loved it and so did we. Great recommendation!!!
  5. Oki, we're booked in at Moonee Beach Holiday Park and will be arriving this Friday. I can't find any information where I can and can't take the dogs... When I go to the beach from the caravan park, is there an offlead area? If not where would be the closest one? Thanks!
  6. There used to be a group training on Whyte Island. They sinced started training further south and it's just to far from me. Is there another group? Also I was more interested in wilderness search but I don't think there's anything here for that?
  7. @Ravyk: Not sure if she'd qualify for that but will let her know as a last resort. @MM: I think they're a Pointer X and a Bull Arab X. Both have been rescued originally she said.
  8. Hi there, my work mate approached me and ask if I'd know of anyone who would be able to take care of her 2 dogs for six months while she has some private stuff to work out (recently went thru a nasty divorce). Does anyone know???
  9. I don't do Facebook but I've added the webpage to my Blog: http://quentinsdream.blogspot.com/
  10. Happy Birthday Abbey!!! Take care of your Mum and wait for her at the Rainbowbridge.
  11. Hey Jelly, that is really sad to hear! I'd like to offer to try and transfer it to a blogspot webpage which is free and add it as a link from my blogspot. What do you think? I remember reading Leo's story and I cried. Even now when I look at it, I cry...
  12. R.I.P. Abbey! Sound like she had a wonderful life. Nearly 20 - amazing, she must have been one lucky girl!
  13. Ah, thanks! Hm, I was going to find a used Hilux but I haven't seen any with the tray. And if I would but a used one and then get the tray fitted, I probably pay the same as for a new one... Hm, decisions, decisions...
  14. Thanks Mystikview, we only wanted to go somewhere around 3-4 hours away. We mainly want to go to the beach. Might go for a drive around but we could leave the dogs at the caravan. We have our own caravan. Can you take the dogs to the beach at Minnie Water/Wooli? fif, the only Mooney Mooney I could find was near Gosford which would be way to far. But you say north of Coffs. Do you got a webpage or contact details? Thanks!
  15. for all those with canvas canopies: Can you put them onto normal trays as well? Not the metal ones but the ones which are same colour as the vehicle? Appearently you can't get them down which you used to be able to do... I used to own a Hilux and you could remove all three sites but I think the newer models only allow the back if I'm not wrong!? Bugger!
  16. So sorry for your loss! R.I.P. Rachel - run free!
  17. Makes me happy to read this thread! You're all wonderful people!!! I have spent thousands at the Vets too plus thousands on toys and bedding. The most important thing about a car is ht e size of the boot. I lived in a caravan for 18 months because I couldn't afford to rent a house with a dog. I took my dog to Germany for 2 years and back because i couldn't leave her behind. I could get a job in the mines which would enable me to own my house in a couple of years. It's FIFO so I can't do it. Bought a caravan so the dogs can come on holiday with us. Bought a house on 1/2 acre so they can run around, now thinking 1/2 acres isn't enough. Decide where I live by how close off-lead walking and swimming facilities are. All normal stuff for me. NAO, I like the idea with the dogs having their own kitchen and laundry! Might consider that for my next house!
  18. Happy Birthday Misty!!! Wishing you a happy and healthy future!!!
  19. OH and I want to go camping at the end of Feb for a week. He wants to go to Northern NSW amd I have the task to find a suitable place. The caravan parks at Wooli and Minnie Water allow dogs but it looks pretty restricted to take them anywhere. All we need is a caravan park, beach and a Pub. Any ideas on where to go???
  20. Sorry, I haven't replied earlier, was a bit busy. Thank you so much for all your replies!!! I wasn't convinced about a Hilux until I read all your replies, so that's great, I'm looking forward to get one now! @richess: Isn't vinyl quite hot? Is it more or less expensive than the 'normal' canopies you can buy? @crazywhips: Thanks! That's good to know! @cry123: I do a lot of travelling to but have only 2 dogs. We go camping with a caravan a lot and I would prefer to have the dogs sleeping in the car rather than in their crates as it can be tight with space on some caravan parks. I used to travel alone a fair bit and just slept in the Kluger. Not sure if I still can do that with the Hilux but doesn't matter. Your set-up sounds great! Does canvas stay much cooler than the 'normal' canopies? Thanks for the pic! That really does look like a great set-up! @Lucy's mama: Sorry, stupid question: Are fibreglass canopies the 'normal' ones you see on them? Is the difference THAT big in temperature? Thanks for the link! Looks great!!! @roundhill: Interesting. I have the same problem (I'm 5 cm shorter than you), so that sounds a bit challenging. What about these rear step towbars? Wouldn't that help? I agree with the height limitations. Might be a bit of an issue for us as well. You never know what you want to use it for. Hm, can you get the dual cab with a tray back??? So are you just putting the cages on? No cover? Tray back is the ones without the sites, right? Really the Prado is smaller? Doesn't look that way when I'm parked next to one. But I'm not sure about the inside. @Mystiqview: Yes, definetly getting a Turbo Diesel. I'm thinking of getting a used one not older than 3-4 years. But depends on the price. Maybe I find a good offer for a demo which would be great! Good thinking with the rain! Does canvas stay dry??? I assume so, it's the same stuff they make tents off, isn't it? @WoofnHoof: Thanks for the info! How much are the carryboys approximately? Looks like a great set-up! @Weibritty: Your set-up looks great! As far as I'm aware you can't get the cab and the canopy connected with the Hilux. But I might be wrong. The ramp is a great idea! Was wondering how far larger dogs should jump. Hera is 25 kg. I can lift her up. Different story with Quentin thou... . Is Flexiglass = Fibreglass??? Is that cooler than canvas or warmer? @mikelli: Absolutley love your set-up!!! @WildatHeart: Thanks for the info! So, now I have a few more questions: In the moment I live near Brisbane and it gets pretty hot and can also rain quite a bit. There is a possibility that I might be moving to the snowy part of this continent so there it's hot and dry in summer but pretty cool in winter. In your opinion which canopy would be the best - canvas, Flexi- or Fibreglass??? :D Also how secure is canvas? I mean theoretically, people could just rip it and take stuff out. I like the idea with ramps, that will certainly help. I do like the canvas set-up as you can put an awning on the site and sit in the shade too wich would be nice. They also seem to be cheaper than the other ones. I have been looking for cars but haven't found one yet. A lot of cars 2 years old cost as much as a new car. So I don't really see the point...
  21. Really?! I find the Kluger comfy and BIG. Only downside is that it doesn't come as a Diesel and I don't want a big Prado or Landcruiser. I've done 90,000 km with the Kluger. My boss has one too, he's done 80,000 km and his car is 6 years old!!! Hopefully within the next months I find a good used Hilux with most of the stuff I want. I would imagine a canopy is pretty expensive, so I might look for used ones which already have a canopy.
  22. Ah, good! Thanks for all the replies! I will now go and get some quotes for canopies and stuff like that to see if I should wait and buy one which already has some of the extras I want. My Kluger isn't even 2 years old... Hope this one will be a better choice.
