  1. Good luck with your little girl. Sounds as though your vet is being thorough and keeping you informed. Love a good vet! The increase in liver levels in very minor and can be easily monitored now you are aware of it and prepared to investigate ways to help protect function. Potassium increase (hyperkalemia) is commonly caused by a reduction in kidney function which blood tests appear to have ruled out, or... infection! Is your girl on fluids for the procedure? It can help recovery and protection of the kidney and liver function after a procedure.
  2. I use Drontal or Paratak. If your pup is 12 weeks give monthly until 6 months old, then every 3 months... If you are in a heartworm area I would also start to look seriously at that now, gives you time to order it in. And yeah, if your vet did not answer your questions and at the very least actually ASK what you wanted - look for another. Vets are like cars (or boyfriends) really good ones or bloody lemons!
  3. New vet clinic being built in Narre Warren North Vic (woofpurnay) has a pool. Last heard due to open late March. Contact at their old clinic 9796 8266 for details as unsure of heating etc but am sure the staff can help anyone interested.
  4. Warming food can help encourage to eat, theory is warm food smells stronger and therefore tastes more (try eating chocolate with a blocked nose, bland!). Dogs also equate moisture with palatability so I often add hot water to the food, then feed when it has cooled to a comfortable temperature. Easy enough to try very short term, and I couldn't agree more with earlier posts, don't wait for the preferred vet, this is a humane issue and the old boy deserves a little more. good luck.
  5. Allergy? The scrotal area is very sensitive and easily irritated, quite often it seems to react to things that don't cause a problem elsewhere. Sorry don't know if this would help much, did your vet make any suggestions at all?
  6. I am a fan of the Aloveen, but take care not to wash too often. I prefer a wash every few weeks, other weeks I rinse off and use the leave in conditioner so we all smell sweet. Funnily enough I know a vet who is such a fan she now uses it on herself and her hair looks fantastic!
  7. I would agree with Leema, allergies can flare up after repeated exposure so totally novel food items are a (relatively) easy option, and I would also see a dermatologist, GP's aren't usually too up on latest knowledge and in my experience a bit scared of skin cases. Good luck.
