Gay's book is great, and there are a few commercial books out there - Kay Lawrence and Mary Ray are two that spring to mind. Denise Fenzi's online Academy is running a Rally Freestyle course next session (Rally with DWD moves thrown in) so that could be another online option for you (you can observe a course at Bronze level for a reasonable cost)

I know Marion at Stylin Cats and Dogs has done a lot of training, and I've certainly heard good things about her work. I use the grooming facilities at Fancy Feathers and Fur at Kippax sometimes to groom my own dogs, and she seems to know her stuff.

Ime been accessing a lot of training online at the Denise Fenzi Academy. She will even offer agility classes soon. But I use them to supplement training at a local positive Club

I also make up my own - silicon tubes from a camping store, then water down liverwurst, fish paste, yoghurt, cream cheese, etc. Refillable, easy to choose your dog's favourite and you control exactly what they eat.

Who else is competing in Sydney this month? We had a dress rehearsal today, and I'm really happy with the way Zim's routine's are coming together.

Thanks, he is pretty cute, and he knows it! Unfortunately, he knows it, and likes to offer this trick whenever he thinks it will get laughs. It's not too bad when we're out and about, and he wants attention, but not so good when he decides to try it at the end of a recall in the obedience ring!

I use Sit Pretty as the cue for sit up, and Paws Up for paws up on something.

I use Cop-cop for paws on feet - I think the cue came from Kikopup's video.

A little brag from Zim this weekend, too, with him picking up his Rally Advanced Title and a 2nd place in the afternoon competition. He was only desexed this week too.

Unfortunately a shaven belly meant he didn't want to drop on cold wet grass, and was a bit distracted in his heelwork, so no obedience passes, but he was pretty close in the afternoon, so I was happy with his work, despite everything. This means he finished his conformation championship and a Rally title in the same month! He will now be CH Llandwyn Crescent Moon (AI) RA

Now we just need to finish the last passes for his CCD and Heelwork to Music Starters over the next month or so!

You've got a lot of the same breeds on your short list as mine was, so I'm going to throw another suggestion out there; The Cardigan Corgi (Welsh Corgi Cardigan in breed lists). Sturdy, medium sized with short legs, bred to be all round farm and family dogs. Mine do obedience, agility and dances with dogs competitively, and with success. Their coat is very easy care, but they do shed a LOT at change of season.

There are a couple of good breeders in South Australia too, with Kalora and Afonwen both producing lovely dogs (although neither are frequent breeders).

I have a friend with a pug called gremlin, apparently that was his condition for getting a pug

I have a friend with a black girl pug called Princess Trevor; he agreed to have a pug, if he could call it Trevor, and when it was a girl, he stuck to his guns! :p

I've had great, long lists of names for my last two puppies, and they have both ended up with something quite different once I met them. I knew they were both going to be brindle and white Cardigans, and what sex, but something in their character or look changed their name on contact. I also teach dog obedience classes, and like most teachers of any description, that rules a lot of common names out, as I've known too many dogs with those names!

Zimri was going to be Hobson, but I chose for a performance pup and he's such a livewire that I needed a zippier sounding name. Zimri means 'celebrated in song or praiseworthy' in Hebrew, and I had wanted a musical themed name, so it was perfect. I had a list of musical names ready for my girl, but she had such a foxy little face, that we looked at fox names when she came home, and Inari is the Japanese deity of fox spirits and rice.

Zim also gets Monkey, or Minkey-monkey, and Inari gets Poppet a lot, which they answer quite happily too as well.

You need to find me in Yass this weekend if you're there as I have a cute baby Pembroke who likes cuddles.

How does he/she feel about playing with Whippets? Dodger loves babies!

Now that her jaw seems to be properly heeled, we're going to give Open a whirl, and I'd like to finish that title (CDX) and get her RAE finished this year too. I'm also aiming to finish at least one of her DWD Intermediate titles this year.

Zimri (Llandwyn Crescent Moon (AI))

At 14 months, he's ready to start competing. We're aiming to finish his conformation championship this year, and get it out of the way- almost halfway there. We'll probably start with Rally soon (RN done), and I think his RA (one pass down, two to go)is quite realistic this year, providing we get to enough trials. I'd like his CCD title (one pass down, and close to ready for CD in training), and at least a start on his CD. We should be able to get both his DWD starters titles as well (two heelwork passes, should finish these easily). If we can squeeze it in, and if he keeps progressing the way he is, we may try for some agility in there, so let's tack a JD on the wishlist as well.

I'd also love to try some herding with him :D

Wow, I think finding the time for all these competitions may be the hard part!

After losing Shandy tragically at the start of the year, Zim has started competition well, and we're making good progress on our wishlist, with RN down, one CCD pass, and two DWD Heelwork to Music passes. Little Miss Inari has joined us, and at 5 months, is showing plenty of promise. Aiming for her to be close to competition ready by the end of the year, maybe some rally under her belt if there are some late trials.

Although Steve is great and certainly achieves results, some local trainers to consider include Paul from the Canine Coach (we've had some success referring difficult dogs from our dog club to him) and I'd second Raelene Koerber, she's a really good trainer.

My husband bought me a couple of the Niteize collar covers last year, and they're great - attach with velcro to a regular collar and provide a large, visible area of light. I'm not sure where he brought them from, but I came across them the other day, along with leashes and collars;

Also, we're fairly new to agility, I dabbled with my old girl, but my young dog is howing some promise, so I'm guessing this particular workshop might be a bit ahead of us?

Very proud of my young Cardigan Corgi, Zimri, this weekend, at the ACT State Obedience. Yesterday he managed a qualie in his first attempt at Rally Advanced, and came third, despite a failure in his heeling in CCD. Today he managed his first CCD pass, with some lovely work and second place, and another RA Pass, with third place (mainly let down by a brain fritz from his handler! :) )

TSD; unfortunately not of that, since I was 'running' her, but she was always an enthusiastic roller! Ian Dunbar was very impressed though; he said it was the clearest win he'd ever seen in that game.

We lost her two months ago, so I only have video of single rolls in routines, since more than one got her so excited she'd bark too much, and lose points :)
