  1. I found porridge with fatty mince, lamb flaps and chicken necks always worked a treat for the greys and other hounds too.

I agree with this post. A friend of mine has a couple of GH and they were fed copious amounts of dry food and never managed to put on any weight. Their diet was changed to a raw diet which consists of raw (pet) chicken mince, chicken necks & chicken frames and they have since put on the weight and how. Most dry foods tend to go straight through some dogs due to its high grain content and given that we are talking 'dogs' and not cows, I guess I know which diet is most suitable, lol.

nope, didn't work here when my greys were on all raw. Chicken didn't agree with one, red meat didn't agree with another. So it was half and half for a while, with a lot of mucking around, now we are all dry, have been for a few weeks and one has put on weight and the others are getting there. The diet that is most suitable is the one the dogs do well on.

Rebanne dont you feed any meat??

  2. My most recent experiences though were with DOLer wayrod and I cannot recommend him highly enough!

+1...great prices, and he makes follow up phone calls to both ends to make sure you were happy with the service

I have gotten quotes from the 3 I mentioned and I have Pm'd Wayrod.

So I will wait and see if he can help me. :o

  3. Does anyone really wonder why entries are down!

The judges are usually ones that have been and judged in Australia in the last few years and the facilities are utter shit!

One of last years judges Bainbridge apparently wasnt even a licenced judge at the time of judging, she had had her judging licence taken off of her early in the year.

Not sure how sure this is, but i have been told the same thing by many people.

  4. My car is a complete lost cause or atleast will cost a small fortune to fix, so I am wondering if there is anyone that would have that would possibly hve room for a hitchhiker (me) and a very cute puppy (medium hound) and possibly a trolley (not big). Willing to put puppy in crate to travel or trailer or anything.

I am in the Bundamba area and I am more than willing to pay!

If there is someone that could possibly help me please PM me.

    Thanks in advance!!

  5. And something else that is worth knowing about is that if you book an animal to fly on a mid morning flight from Hobart, it is VERY likely that it will be bumped off the flight for foodstuffs that have come in from New Zealand for onshipping.

Oh AND I forgot to mention that Qantas are very prone to changing their planes with no notice as well so you might think your dog is booked on ok but you may get to the airport and find that it can't go because the plane has changed.

BTW Pockets, double checking before going is no guarantee unless you luck into speaking to the person on the phone who will be doing the booking-in over the counter...it can be THAT variable!

    :laugh::rofl: You have scary info!!

Brought a puppy from Hobart to Perth back in May with Qantas. He had to be booked through the freight dept, even though I only had hand luggage and no other checked baggage. Freight costs were $50 as he and his crate were under 10kg. I also purchased a crate from them for $60 as I had heard they can be quite fussy about the type crate they allow. I had organised this from Perth and found the people in the freight dept. at Hobat to be very helpful. He arrived in Perth, no problems and because he travelled freight I then had to go and collect him from the freight office in another part of the airport. I believe between Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane they can travel as excess baggage and can come out with all of the other baggage so you can collect them as you get your other stuff and go on your way. Hope this helps.

    Didnt know this!

In all reality I will prolly not fly down there myself because of the costs, the cheapest I can find is $457, where as just to freight puppy I have been quoted $150 plus crate.

  6. Ok I am looking at going and collecting my puppy from interstate myself.

I am trying to find out what is involved in flying your dog as excess baggage.

If I do this I will only have an overnight bag which will be a carryon so will only have the crate and puppy as checked baggage.

Anyways can someone please explain it all for me??

    Thanks

*If it happens it will be from Tasmania to Brisbane and the crate and puppy will be under 10 kg.
