  1. What a cool prize. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am loving mine. So handy!
  2. Nadia, I'll send my entries tomorrow. It's just for a border collie: Reese in Junior. Liz
  3. I'm so loving my new show mat - so easy to carry, clean and looks great. Such a happy little camper! They fold into nothing, easy to pack but more importantly keeps the dirt and water away from the dogs when you are at a show. Also heard that they are having a special at the moment. Paws 4 Effect are selling 2 mats for $160. Yay - Christmas presents since they are not just for shows Anyone else bought a Paws 4 Effect Gazebo Mat?
  4. Thanks - just what I'm after. I like that it looks like that it won't show the dirt like the white ones do, When we are in the red dirt it's good to know the dogs can stay clean and the mats don't pick up the dirt. I'll email you about the club stuff. Thanks for the help. Appreciate it!
  5. Thank you, found your website too. Love the fact they are eco-friendly and love the paw prints. My favourite colour is red, that's my theme. Loving that a 'dog' person is creating/selling the products so know what the conditions are like. hmm, I know where I'm getting my new mat, great timing!!!!
  6. How exciting! New mats! My old one has holes in it so I am looking for a new one. Paws 4 Effect, can you please post a photo of your mats on here so I can have a look easily. As a club secretary, I am excited about the face of the personalising option - have to check that out further as always looking for new prizes or merchandise!!! I have seen the cheaper ones in person so have that as a basis.
  7. Our first BARK canine disc comp for the year is happening this sunday. Very exciting. We have just had another Qld club affiliated with Canine Disc Australia so that now makes 4 clubs and we are really ready to expand! Anyhow, we are back on track to getting it started in Victoria. thank you for your patience and eagerness - it is soooo fantastic to see. We've also got some great plans for 2012 so hoping we definitely get you all started way before the National Championships next year! Did you see Jeff and his dog who are from Victoria try out at Australia's Got Talent - Jeff has travelled up to Qld a couple of times for comps too. I will talk with Damian on sunday and we'll start organising the clinic. StaffnToller sounds like she has organised a fantastic venue, so hopefully we can organise a weekend in August/September. We'll confirm a date within the next couple of weeks and get you all started! The 2011 National Championships are on 15/16 October in Brisbane. Next weekend, I'm going up to Townsville to judge at their frisbee competition and we should have 15 teams in the Novice division! So stay tuned! This time it will happen!
  8. For some dogs it takes alittle while, but with the right rewards, some who showed no interest can be trained to play. LOL. Like this one......... Seriously. And I'm trying to get a weekend where Tony is available so he will be one of the instructors! Hopefully, I can persuade him ;-)

  10. Great to hear! It really is an enjoyable sport and the dogs just love it. Hopefully will have it all finalised shortly. Liz
  11. Hi all, I'm the Secretary of the Brisbane Canine Disc Club, was the frisbee co-ordinator at WDG and have been doing national stuff with Damian. Damian is swamped at the moment, so I am taking over organising the clinics down south. I will be talking with Damian on the weekend to see where he is at. If anyone in NSW / Vic is interested in being the 'organiser' down there was well - in other words my contact for venue etc, please message me. I'm hoping to have presenters and weekends organised very shortly. ;) So don't panic - it is still happening and we are very keen to get it all running. The Canine Disc National Championships will be in Pine Rivers (Brisbane) on 9 and 10 October 2010 and the Qld State Championships will be on the Gold Coast on 5 September 2010 (run in conjunction with the Gold Coast Pet and Animal Expo). If anyone wants to travel up here with their dogs! I will place information on DOL as soon as everything is confirmed. Thanks for your patience and I look forward to the clinics coming up shortly! Kind regards Liz
  12. We females just have to pick our game up! Molasseslass and bordercollies4me, along with another lady with her 2 red dogs - are the 3 females at the moment who are consistently throwing over 30m + and who can certainly beat the men! Molasseslass made the National Championships final so can definitely do it! (She's just being modest in her last post) Yes WDG was male dominated in frisbee, but I think 'we' can show them next time!!!!
  13. Jawz are good - they are a little heavier than the normal competition standard, as they are the ones for the strong bites. But they do last. They don't go as far as the competition ones and do fly differently, which you have to remember if you train with jawz and compete with 'normal' ones. But I do have 3 Jawz discs at home and they are great discs! Well worth it. Sorry just trying to give you as much information as I can. Frisbee is a lot of fun and the dogs really love it. It's not as complicated as it sounds - it's really really simple and a lot of fun! The main thing, is getting out there and having fun with your pups!
  14. People do think frisbee is really easy. It is like any other sport and does need training, especially more so for the 'human' part of the team. Learning how to throw a frisbee consistent and accurate does take soem practice. Once that is mastered you can work on distance. It is a lot of fun though and worth it! Training doesn't seem like training! Teaching the jobs to jump safely is one of the most important things. In the clinics organised by Canine Disc Australia, they will teach all those elements and how to throw and release properly. CDA is teeing up some clinics in the New Year at the moment, looks like a couple in NSW - Sydney and Coast as well as Melbourne. If you are interested - drop Damian Noud a line - [email protected]
  15. I'm not sure where the puppy ones came from. One of the club members bought a heap in from the US for herself and accidentally ordered puppy discs. Clean Run don't stock them. I will have a hunt around and see if I can find out where they come from. You wil probably have to get them from the US though - not aware of anyone who has any in Australia any more. (But I stand to be corrected.) T Proper competition standard discs are from the US - you can either get Whamo, Fastback, Chompers or Heros - they types of discs allowed in competition are located here http://www.frisbeedogs.asn.au/ You can either purchase some for the Brisbane & Region K9 Disc Club (try website http://www.bark.asn.au/ for details) or you can go direct to makers in the US. I use Fastback's for competition (so does AD) which you can get from http://www.dtworld.com/Dog_Discs_s/5.htm - this is the company who owns the right to the word 'frisbee' - original makers. I also use Skyzhounz Hyperflite for frisbee freestyle - the discs are a little smaller so don't go as far as the fastbacks. http://www.skyhoundz.com/ This company also makes Jawz discs which are pretty much indestructuable but really soft so don't hurt the dogs. Both these companies make normal discs and puppy size. There is also Hero discs but I've never used them, they are suppose to be very similar to Fastback discs. http://www.herodiscusa.com/ Anyway, you can purchase direct from those companies online -I've bought from DT World and Skyzhoundz on numerous occassions (I probably buy twice a year) and have never had an issue with service or delivery. Have fun!
  16. The World Dogs Games was like a grand final, so you had to actually qualify to make the grand final - people might not realise that. So although there might be a lot of other dogs trialling, you only saw the ones that qualified. That was mostly BC's for flyball and frisbee - it wasn't intential just how it happened. For frisbee, we would love to see more types of dogs participating but yes the sport does take training and not all dogs can catch a disc - those with smalled noses like boxers might find it more difficult. But have a go and hopefully next time there will be more types. But again, it depends on who qualifiers. If you have a breed that wasn't in there, then start training and make sure you get there next time.
  17. Frisbee all dogs can do it. The sport started in the US with a whippet. Working dogs seem to work well but any dog can do it, just need training!
  18. They certainly have. To come in on the second day and do so well, they did a great job. I was so proud of all 5 dogs and their handlers. The handlers did a great job of supporting their dog and it showed. Well done to all of them - your training paid off!!! ;)
  19. Can understand that - especially since you were always introduced as the most important person on the field, and you did such a great job. Oh that's right, no one had a foul! You should talk to those competitors and make them do a foot fault next time, you'd definitely get on TV that way!! ;) But I did see you nearly everytime they threw. Thyme did a great job - yeah must be the breeding!
  20. Ahh memories. For those that don't know Ck 'christened' the anti - fatigue matting!!! And the grass the second time and then nearly my foot the third time......... ;) poor little man. But you should be so proud of your work with him. You encouraged him and gave him the confidence for the rest of the competition - that's what is important! Well done.

  22. thought everyone looked great! You all did a fabulous job - included Todd and Rusty who didn't make it in the final footage although Rusty did make it in the very beginning of the footage and the start. Ck was fabulous - AD did some pretty good throwing too!
  23. Yeah that was her. She's asleep and doesn't care! I think my girls were there as well in the intro. But hard to distinguish between Jessie, Xena and Gemma but it was great nonetheless. Just rewatched it and both my girls Keira and Gemma made it!! So did Jessie and Xena - different coloured disc! Very exciting - well for me more than anyone else!

  25. Loved it. Great viewing - great to see canine sports on TV. Congratulations Chugg entertainment on having the idea and making it happen - well done. Well done to all participants as well - and all the winners. I was exciting my girls were shown in the frisbee footage at the beginning of the segment - Ember was the one who dropped and gave the disc. Very exciting. Congratulations to Damian and Jade - fantastic round. Also congrats to Tony and Ck who and the highest scoring round and really made it competitive. To all the frisbee competitors, Damian / Jade, Tony / CK, John / Jessie, Matt / Thyme and Todd / Rusty - well done - you did a fantastic job. I was very proud to the the frisbee liaison / co-ordinator on the weekend. A great honour and you guys made it so enjoyable!
