  1. With the issue you are describing and the breed, I am in total agreement with Persephone & others in strongly advising you to seek proffesional advice on this behaviour & veterinary assessment.

You are on the right track to seek any physiological causes, and by all means desex anyway, but I truly doubt any chance of testosterone based aggression at this age, I can only think of issues in the rearing of the litter or a pup with serious issues of the brain 'hard wiring' kind.

  2. Yes to Fenugreek  and yes, however you have to do it, you get it into them !!

(shudders at the memory of hand rearing a litter on my own many years ago...three weeks...no sleep !!)

I think we must be due for more piccies soon Lynai :)

  3. Good luck with your litter. I won't contribute any more. Except to say that it is funny how certain people are ok with your puppies having shit on them but if it had been me or other posters, there would have been much baying for blood.

:( And that being the case Ellz, why would you put the boot in when you so hate it being done to YOU ?

Ellz, have you had a GIANT breed litter ? the poo output can be monumental, and if you have to separate them to have a wee nap or shower or eat, it doesn't take much for a neonate poo to be wriggled across the lot !!!

Great news Lynai that the battler is looking stronger, pics please !!!

  4. Yes, hopefully your girl will get the idea :D If a mum is a bit relucant I'll often hold up the 'productive' end and if they begin to clean, I say 'lick.lick..lick..lick' in a praising voice. With a bit of repitition, before long they are pretty proactive !

no-one is watching remember !!! what happens with tired breeders in the whelping box...stays in the whelping box !!)

    Yes Lynai...piccies :D

  5. warm water with a few drops of almond oil in it, and cotton balls or very soft tissues, after each feed pick up puppy and dip the ball or tissue in the warm water, wipe towards the tail gently and repeatedly.

this will stimulate regular wees & movements and you'll soon be moving on to small soft towels as the volume increases if Selah won't do it. :)

  6. might have come from hunting / pigging type mix of bull breed / dane and a sighthound mix. The wolfhound/deerhound coat can come out many X-breedings later, we have lots around here that are Bullmastiff X wolfhound x dane x whatever, and they have some of the coarsest coats to die for !!!

Your boy hasn't any immediate wolfhound that I can see, just your loved X-bred :D

  7. :( Oh shite Lynai.

Sometimes it just seems the more we want it, the harder it gets.

Good she's on AB's, Yes I've seen quite a few where one horn has dead & decomposing puppies & the other's have been ceasared or whelped successfully.

I guess its a case of monitoring mum & the surviving bubs and the vet being really proactive. Dark blood is expected with whats happening, any colour change and straight to vet.

Same goes for when the other's are born, keep puppy AB's handy just in case, and have some probiotic on hand.

Sending healthy mum & bubs thoughts your way.

  8.   OH Cin, I just saw the name and felt ill, I didn't want to believe it was THE Atlas  .

Don't know what to say - what a DOL hero he was.

All we can do is hug you from afar.

    our love & hugs,

    fifi, danny & hounds xxx

  9. Well done WP  we have cyclone mesh around the house yard, and ringlock / pigwire / dogwire around the rest of the acreage.

We have rolls of diamond mesh to put up around the dog runs when we can get to it.

I'd love deer fencing around the five acres for the dogs though.
