I just bought the Selsun Blue shampoo from Coles tonight. I can't wait to try it out this weekend. I've heard of using Dawn for washing dogs but will give Fairy a try if the shampoo doesn't work. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks again!

I've been helping out with our local rescue group and I'm trying to find a way to wash a Shih-Tzu x Maltese that has a dirty oily coat. When he was rescued, his fur has clumped together with dirt and body oil and it was really hard to wash him and we ended up having to shave him. What's the best shampoo to break down the dirt and cut through the grease so to speak? He is currently on Prednil to help with his skin conditions and allergies which can get quite smelly at times. We don't have a dedicated hydrobath so some volunteers have been washing him at the local "DIY" dog wash.

Hi guys, Is it possible to replace the doors for the PP40 dog crates? I have a few doors that are rusted but the crates itself is still in great conditions. Also, where can I find the replacement clips that holds the crates together? They are much easier to use than wing nuts :)

Hey guys, My breeder just emailed me two days ago to say that she have a show potential puppy ready for me in 2-3 weeks time. Previously, I had to wait until June for the next litter. Anyway, the breeder emailed me today with the receipt outlining what I need to pay including the cost breakdown. I noticed that I will be charged for boarding the pup from yesterday until I am ready to pick them up (which is two weeks after the pup is ready to go to his new home). Is that a normal practice? My understanding is that I should be charged for when the pup is ready to be sent to his new home until I can come and collect them. Am I correct? I just want to run it through you guys before I speak to the breeder today.

I was going for a girl at first but then changed to a boy... now I don't know. Haha but I'm hoping getting a show potential pup. I've been reading everything and anything I can to prepare myself. Did you get a pen for your pup?

Haha. No, the first one in March and then the second in June/July? The one I am getting in March, the Mum is a Daesdaemar/Mannerking JS and the Dad is a Syide/Napaj JS. The second one I'm not sure yet..

I'm glad I found this topic! This will be useful when I get my JS. What size crate should I use to toilet train? Can I use the same crate that my breeder is sending the puppy in with?

I finally mustered up the courage and called Leah from Havenden about her Japanese Spitz puppies. What a lovely person. She has sent me photos of the puppies and I can't decide whether to get the girl or the boy. She said that boy has show potential but I really prefer a girl... So what should I do? Anyway, the breeder that didn't reply to my email also didn't call me back when I rang yesterday as well

Personally, if I am getting a puppy, I will definitely stay at home for 1-2 weeks. Just to make the whole transition easier for the puppy.

My old dogs can get a bit yappy when they are surrounded by other dogs but they have never been exposed to puppies. They don't have problem with larger dogs but with smaller or same size dogs, they get too excited but will settle down. They love playing with my friend's Akita.

I'm an introvert and don't socialise much after work or weekends so I can devote all my time to my dogs My best friend and her husband both work fulltime and then recently acquired a puppy. They didn't take time off work to look after the puppy and raised the most well trained and adjusted dog. It's toilet and house trained. You can still be a good dog owner and work full time. All you need to do is be willing to continuously train your dog. Well that's my thinking anyway!

If I do rescue one from Gumtree, I'm happy to keep it as a pet. This one I am interested in is 2 yrs old, desexed and comes with papers (I think). The reason why the owner is selling the dog is because he is an international student and weren't able to obtained permanent residency here and going back home just before Christmas. Apparently, same story as the previous owner. The owner quoted that he wants a forever home for his dog.

I have been researching this breed for at least 2 years. Previously I have owned two rescued dogs but now that I getting my own place, I would like to get another dog for myself since my parents has decided they cannot part with my two dogs. I don't know if I should get a puppy or "rescue" one from Gumtree. There's a few there that are free to a good home. If I get a puppy, I want to get a show quality so I can show them. I work 8-4 Monday to Friday. I live in a two person household. What do you think I should do? Do you think I am suitable for this breed? Can someone recommend me a reputable breeder as I live in Perth? P.S. Can this breed live with small dogs?? I'm planning to have my dogs stay over at my house every weekend
