  1. I bred a pup that had a grade 3 murmur at 6 weeks, he stayed with us and was checked every 4 weeks, every check it was downgraded until at 20 weeks it was completely gone. He was given to a family that had previously purchased a pup from us and at 18months is doing fantastic. Both parents had clear heart certificates. I would never rush to put a pup to sleep, he would have just lived his life with us if it hadn't have cleared.

  2. Hi Thomo,

I think I may have already spoken to you via an email but things you should check are the parents health certificates, eyes/hips/elbows/hearts. Make sure you are happy with the environment the puppies have been raised, that it's clean etc. that your happy with the dams nature. It's not always possible to meet the sire as they can normally live with others. I would say one of the most important things is that you can communicate with the breeder & that they are happy to answer questions and offer support once your puppy is home with you. If you have found a good breeder they will help you pick a puppy that suits your family.

Good luck with your new family member.

  3. Hi LP,

I'll check out my local op shops for you over the weekend. A bag I bought for $5 a few years ago had a very old teddy in it  Almost didn't buy the bag because I thought it looked old a yukky. To my surprise he is worth several hundred dollars, maybe more. The dogs aren't allowed him

  4. Yes, I have also had a puppy with it, his gland came up 2 days after his 6 week vacc & had swelling around the eyes & mouth. He was put on antibiotics & steroids straight away. He was fully healed and off all medication at 13weeks when he went to his new home. No scarring and has grown into a very handsome boy. Boston is now 5years old.

Hugs to your little man & I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

  5. Sadly the GRCV don't have a rescue service any longer, they just tell people to take them to the RSPCA :nahnah: If someone can get me the phone number of the people giving him away I will contact them and offer support. You'll probably find he has been rehomed already, they don't hang around to long when they are free.

  6. Thanks Ashley, unfortunately it was all to quick to even call out, not that I would have as I'm reasonably new to showing & doubted myself for a second. I was under the understanding the steward was to call my number before entering the ring again, she didn't even get a chance to see who she was to call before the the reserve challenge was awarded.

Thanks Megz, it does make more sense to contact the CC. Thanks for your reply.

  7. Just wondering if I should contact the show secretary in regards to a show we attended. Not that it will change anything for that show but for future reference.

We came 2nd in Intermediate dog class. In the Dog Challenge line up, challenge was awarded to the Intermediate dog and although I was stood ringside and ready to enter, the judge awarded Res challenge straight away, without giving the steward time to call us in. I was told by another exhibitor that she had done the same thing to another breed earlier on.

Should I contact them for their future reference.

  8. I'm not so sure I agree it being a good thing, they will probably just say stuff it and BYB instead. Maybe they should make people who fail attend a Breeders seminar. I attended a weekend seminar that VCA put on years ago, was fantastic.

  9. How gorgeous!!

One of my girls was always helping the whelping box and would even give the real mum the evil eye if she wanted to come in with her babies while she was in there cleaning. Photo of her attached with Lara's litter & giving Lara the evil eye for coming back.

The other photo is of my male Kuga with his mum & her litter.

  10. Yes Missymoo they really look after breeders. I have been going there for about 6yrs now, lovely vets. I normally see Emma but haven't had a vet I haven't liked there yet. Travel 30minutes each way, just love the service they give, they are also open Sunday mornings for emergencies. Had to ring the after hours on cup day as a pup took sick, the owner met me there, gave pup injections & thorough check, sent me on my way and had to go back 2 days later for a check up, they only charged me $100 and that included medications. I can't recommend them highly enough. I even get a Christmas card

  11. Karingal Vets and Beach street vets are a couple of minutes apart on the same road Cranbourne Road. Beach street were about $50 Ph 9781 4499. They are really good if they can't confirm at 3 weeks they let you go back again a week or so later & don't normally charge.

The u/s I had done this morning was at Monash but my girlfriend took her so I don't know how much it was.

  12. LMWS :rofl: Words can't express the sadness I'm feeling for you. Every breeders nightmare. Run free with your darling babies Sugar.

MissMonaro sorry for your loss, so hard when you've tried your hardest and they still continue to fail. :o

Yarrowfell :) to you too. I hope all settles down and they all do well.
