  1. Can I ask what the normal practice is for an 'oops' litter? Just out of curiosity. It seems that they happen from time to time. Are the pups given away rather than sold?

Cross bred pups have the same value as rescue pups.

In my opinion it is only ethical to sell pups like this desexed. It is also unethical to make any claim about their working ability because they are only pet quality, nothing more. They should be sold at a minimum age of 8 weeks.

    Totally agree, Greytmate.

  2. It depends on the person making the comment and circumstances surrounding it.

I am sure if a married person that was quite uppity about marriage called my child a bastard if it was born out of wedlock I would probably take offense (and think they were rather socially inept).

Bastard is the correct but old fashioned term. Nowdays it is often used as an offensive word to abuse someone or something.

Mongrel is similar in that way.

So I understand why someone could take offense in that situation....there is no need to devalue someone elses situation to prop up your own stance and feelings of superiorority.

Mutt, cross, mixed breed, rescue mutt obviously doesn't quite have the same conotations.

  3. I like the Triple crown everlasting treat thing. It is the blue one. I break a 4x2 biscuit into sections and shove it in by itself or with a little bit of kibble and a small smear of vegemite or peanut butter. You can also buy the treats that are made for it but I find the 4x2's last a good while if you keep the pieces as big as you can whilst still being able to fit them in the treat ball. They (4x2's) are good in the Kongs, too.

  4. Do you think most people who find the cruel and torcherous slaughter of dogs unacceptable would find a cruel and torcherous slaughter of any animals ok?

Well yeah..........the majority do find it ok in my opinion.

Those who eat the meat are supporting the industry that is responsible.

By eating it, people are accepting that "a cruel and torcherous slaughter" is ok.

    True.

  5. QUOTE (Aussie3 @ 30th May 2010 - 01:31 PM)

I think a few of you need to go and work in a slaughterhouse.

You do realise that baby chickens are thrown into blenders because they're males?

Sometimes hens are thrown into a pot of boiling water before they're dead.

The conditions chickens are kept in are absolutely filthy and inhumane.

Animals are "stunned" which doesn't always work as well as it should meaning they die a slow and aginising death. Not to mention the terror they must go through whilst being brought into a place where thousands of other animals before them have been mutilated and left to bleed out.

But hey, as long as we don't eat dogs that's all tickety-boo

Sorry but that doesn't mean we are not allowed to offer up our opinion. Do you think most people who find the cruel and torcherous slaughter of dogs unacceptable would find a cruel and torcherous slaughter of any animals ok?

If they were laughing on radio about male chicks being thrown in the blender do you not think people would find that disgusting also?

The world isn't tickety-boo, regardless, but if we all had to make sure we were thoroughly cleansed of hypocrasy and completely righteous before we were allowed to have an opinion and/or attempt to contribute in a positive way about something then it would be even less tickety-boo and nothing positive would be done... Good old paralysis by analysis!

  6. It's not so much that dogs are eaten but that they are tortured before dying.

They suffer a horrific death and pain inflicting is deliberate. The belief of their oppressors is that the more they suffer the tastier their meat would be.

Even though my Western sensibilities lend me to feeling ill and disgusted at the thought of people eating creatures that I have and consider to be members of my family, I am aware of the hypocracy. Fact is we are all hypocrites in one way or another.

I do see the so called logical side of the argument though (which is subjective anyway) but the suffering these animals go through to provide a meal is inhumane to say the least.

Absolute W@^%ers making a joke out of it.

  7. I am so sorry for your loss Monelite.

Rex was a stunning boy in looks and going by what you have shared about him on Dol he was even more stunning in nature.

Run fast and free at the bridge beautiful Rex.

  8. Good morning Jed,

It feels as though we're all sitting in a virtual waiting room, hoping the doctor will stick his head around the door with a small piece of good news from time to time. And every now and then somebody lights another candle to carefully place beside your bed to remind you, when you awaken, that you haven't been alone, we were all here for you when you were sleeping.

Rest well Jed, so that you can grow strong again.

Totally agree, LuvMyCav and beautifully said.

Still sending healing thoughts to you, Jed.

  9. So are you looking at having 3 pups together because i thought you had just got a cocker baby?? or didnt that work out

This is an old topic from months ago when ABC123 was doing her research and it just got bumped to the first page from a new post.
