No, they wouldn't honour the price printed in the catalogue, it was printed at $152 cheaper than the actual sale price of $699. They had signs up advising of the mistake and apparently there were a lot of ads printed in newspapers stating the mistake.
I'm happy with the D5100 anyway, from the few pics I've quickly snapped before work this morning, they are much brighter and clearer than what I usually take. Although they aren't brilliant, that's not the cameras fault, it's the photographers skill LOL The camera I ended up with has an image stabilizer or something which reduces movement caused by hands shaking apparently. I don't really know I was kind of led by the salesman

Thanks for your reply Aphelion.
I raced into the store after work and played around with a few different cameras. The D3100 price was a misprint in the catalogue . I ended up going for a Nikon D5100.

Good Guys have a sale that ends today on Canon 1100D twin lens kit $599 and Nikon D3100 twin lens kit $547. Both seem like good deals and I have no idea which way to go.
I've currently got a Nikon Coolpix L100. I'm not a good photographer but thought a DSLR might give me better images.
I want it for taking pics of family, dogs and kids sport. Sons Taekwondo in particular, so want something that will capture fast moving kicks without so much blur. I had been looking at the Sony A57 as the salesman said it takes 12 shots per second so had a good chance of getting a good pic. Not sure if he was just blowing wind up my butt though? Sony looks good for a beginner like me but the prices of these Canon and Nikon twin lens kits is just too good to pass up.
Please help!!! All opinions appreciated :)

I was a bit concerned when the dog first went into the BB house but from what I've seen, she looked to be very happy. She had constant company, was allowed inside and on the beds, given a lot of attention. The AWL vetted all the families who applied to adopt Delilah, so I don't see anything wrong with the situation at all.
If anything I think it's shown how fantastic a rescue dog can be :)

Now you mention it the name rings a bell. I think they only put her on in the last 18 months though. I think I remember it being in the paper. Thanks for reminding me :)
I only remember seeing her in the paper because she used to be on the RSPCA Animal Rescue program :)

From when I have been there, they have padlocked gates. That would be enough to deter me I suppose. I guess if you really want to get in somewhere you find a way.
I wish they could afford to put an inspector on locally. We have no local RSPCA inspector that can investigate cruelty complaints on other properties. Unless its changed very recently and I didn't know about it. I know about 18 months ago I complained about some neglected animals and was told they don't have a local inspector.
I thought Amanda Yates was the local inspector in Bundaberg. She's the inspector that's always pictured and mentioned in the News-Mail for RSPCA stories and has been for the last couple of years at least.

Bundaberg RSPCA is not the local pound.
Tighter security should be right at the top of their 'to do' list.

I really hate the its the parents comments... Drives me crazy
Sometimes parents do all they can and the kids still act out and sneek out and do what they want (i have seen it, my parents did everything they could to get my brothers to do what they were told and nothing worked, by fining them or making my parents pay for their actions, it would have done nothing to stop the boys (note: they NEVER did anything like this, but just silly teenager crap, drinking and sneeking out at night and not coming home when told))
As for the kids involved in this, i agree, they should be locked up for a year or so and not let off because they are so young.
Believe me I know how hard it is to control a teenager, got one myself. But have you looked at the video CCT footage? I'd be very surprised if these girls were teenagers, they look about 10. There is no way they will be locked up at all, they are too young, so who is to be held accountable for their actions if not their parents?
-
Geez that video link says they're only 10 and the RSPCA think they know who they are because they let 3 cats out the weekend before. I wonder if the parents will be held accountable, presumably they would have been made aware of the previous incident.

Sorry for your loss

My mother would one day like a Cavalier Kind Charles Spaniel, however, I have reservations about this due to the high propensity for health issues within the breed.
Is it possible to find a breeder who breeds Cavaliers without health issues or is the breed just too far gone to even bother?
Blackdogs it is possible to find a breeder who breeds healthy cavaliers but you will never have a 100% guarantee that the dog will never have health problems. I would suggest you find a breeder who health tests, someone who is willing to discuss the health issues of the cavalier with you and not just dismiss it with "not in my lines". See how you feel after talking to some breeders and hearing what they have to say.
If your mum is looking for a lively, loving, affectionate, snuggly little dog then she won't go wrong with a cav. :)
If I could get one breeder to respond that none of the dogs they've ever bred have suffered from genetic health issues I would find that comforting.
That's a big ask. You'll probably find a breeder somewhere who says that, but have they really had every single pup they've ever bred tested throughout it's life to be sure they've never bred a dog with genetic health issues? I would very much doubt it.

Back to the OP - RCR have had their numbers reduced on their license for a reason... which appears to be more related to how many they can care for properly at their premises (most likely due to staffing levels), rather than any bad press they may have had. This isn't actually a bad thing, and may increase the numbers of animals they rehome annually because they will have more time to work on and with each dog before rehoming it.
T.
According to Red Collar Rescue, North Burnett council have told them that the reason they reduced the number of dogs to 20 was because that is the number of dogs the council could take into their own pound system if the people running the rescue were to, at any time, walk away from their property and the dogs.

So sorry to hear of your loss
I remember Kenny and your devotion to him.

Damn! I got through part 1 and 2 went to watch 3 and it's been removed, so has 4. Went to look at 1 again and it's now gone too. If I'd started watching half an hour earlier I would have made it through them all.

I think we need to turn on the April air
What??
Americans think they can switch on Summer from a slot machine????
I'm easily confused. Does this quote come in discussion of this post? What does it have to do with Americans (asked honestly as a dual Aus/USA citizen)? Or was it supposed to be funny? I don't get the joke.
It's what the man in the background says in the clip. Aprilaire is a company with a range of appliances like air pruifiers, humidifiers etc. It's the dry air causing the static charge in the dogs coat, so he says to the girl we need to turn on the Aprilaire (which would be some kind of air conditioner) to put some moisture into the air.
Why Tralee felt the need to comment on Americans using air conditioning I do not know It's not like they are the only people in the world to use it.

Your pups are very cute also :)
thanks :)

Horrible, just horrible
A BSL page on facebook reported this morning that a little SBT pup that had been missing (numerous people had re-posted a youtube clip about his disappearance in the last day or so) had been killed and dumped back on his owners doorstep. He had died of mauling injuries. This happened in Qld. What is the world coming to?
Do you know where in Qld HollyMilo? Your pups are very cute also :)
I don't know if this is the same pup you are talking about, but there was a 15 week old SBT pup that had been missing from his owners place since last Wednesday, I was looking on face book to see if there was any further reports on him, but nothing. He is from near Rocky.
Devlin the pup taken from Bouldercombe is the one who was killed then returned to his home.
Poor little buggar, Devlin was a gorgeous looking pup. Was hoping for good news, but so sad. His owners and breeder must be absolutely devastated.
Yes, Devlin is the pup I was referring to.
It is just beyond comprehension that someone could be so cruel as to tie a plastic bag around a dogs head or return the body of a baby puppy, who has not only died but has been mauled, to it's distraught owners home. I shudder to think these unfeeling 'things' are walking around among us.
