  1. My first westie breeder had 4 other breeds... There was nothing wrong with her, she shows 3 of the breeds now and does quite well with them. ETA: That is not the norm tho, most breeders have one or 2 breeds
  2. Show dog - just out of interest it is common for international judges not to award a challenge for a dog under 12 months? I know you didn't ask me, but I will answer anyway It certainly isn't unusual for judges to give that reason for non-awarding a dog under 12 months. But I have only had it happen to me once or twice and have had other international judges give them the CC. Of course in breeds with more than 1 dog competing it is less common as they just give it to the older dogs I have never had a young dog non awarded BUT do now plenty of judges who have & have given age the reason .I have had an older dog NA but that is a whole topic again . Some countries don't show pups so find it hard to figure out what to do with youngster but they should judge the Aussie way . I don't think this year's judges will be serial NA I havent had too many issues either, the odd one here and there but i think that was due to the dog going thru the ganglies too... I have also had a Minor (7 month) old dog awarded a nice BOB, shortlisted for group and he went on the win Minor in Show at the classic...
  3. I should hopefully have something towards the end of 2011
  4. Oh I know the pain of trying to think of a puppy name! I'm forever trying to think of a name for my next one (whenever that may be) and I keep coming back with ones I'm not 100% sold on. It's so hard! Pssst.. chances are the name you choose will already be taken by somebody somewhere anyway so don't worry When I named Ruby I hadn't heard it much before but sure enough every Tom, Dick and Harry has called their dog (and kid!!) Ruby, now!! I know you had your Ruby first What kind of names do you like? Real boy names, or made up ones, or names of things, etc? No-one had ever heard of Hemi when we names our boy... and guess what, my sister adopted a year old kelpie x a few weeks ago, and he was also called Hemi!!! its a bit confusing now! How exciting about your new pup!!!
  5. Well done Mirawee... it was a nice BIS lineup last night I had the pleasure of showing Cash the std poodle to BIG last night... I also won bitch cc/rubob with a dally, BOB with my mums naughty 11month old dane and baby of breed, over the dog with a toy poodle bitch...so quite a good night for me!
  6. I am contemplating it.... dunno how I would go with a little white dog, but i have searched and it appears they CAN do it....
  7. Blimey that early. At this stage I am thinking if I miss it then I do - I would have to leave at 3am for that and because I have to drive to town to pick up my friend first I might as well not go to bed! Having a whippet, you most likely could get there for 9 and be safe, as they dont really require much preperation you could pretty much rock up, get out the car and excersise the dogs, then walk straight into the ring... perhaps enter, and then ring the week before the show and find out what numbers are in the groups/before you.
  8. Usually group 2 is very small numbers... around 10-20 dogs max... A few amstaff, staffies and maybe a jack, scotty and westie... Hmm righto, no idea how many hounds???? If there is lots and Whippets are at the end I might be right?? If all else fails and I am too late for Saturday well I just will have to miss out. It is easier than organising kids etc for two nights. I think I might just leave at 5am and then I should be there by about 10 and maybe I will have time??? Group 4 usually has about the same amount of dogs.... you would be probably safer aiming to leave for 4-4.30
  9. i know she is off toodyay road, but not quite sure where in relation to the fire...

  11. Great stuff quicker the better! Entries - Group 1 - 67 Group 2 - 50 Group 3 - 52 Group 4 - 74 Group 5 - 67 Group 6 - 87 Group 7 - 79
  12. Nope... i was like if I ever showed over there, if it was a small class I would put myself first, then if the judge cant decide im up front if it was a big class, i would go at the end, then im fresh in teh judges memory
  13. I just remembered I speak to a Border Collie lady for Jersey on FB reguarly... hehehe. Good luck - what an experience that would be! Apparently in the UK - You dont line up as per catalogue order, you just line up in any old fashion, wherever you want to go!
  14. Sorry to hear of the move, but im sure it wouldnt be an easy decision... Does this mean Char is going to go for his AM Ch title too? Jersey is in the states right?? If its not - now you all know why I failed Geography
  15. Me, me! Pick me!! Oh wait, are you paying, too? I can't afford it But would looooooooooove to go to Crufts!! I would LOOOVE to come with you, and actually was trying to figure out how I could afford it
  16. Been keeping an eye on this one - partially for the sake of you guys too... was going to offer a hand if need be... they just downgraded the warning, so it seems it may be getting under control They changed it from 35hectares burnt to 10hectares burnt too...
  17. Sorry to hear your news fetchindawg, hopefully 2011 will be a super year for you, and guess what, its only just around the corner! I had an absolute flat out two nights at the show. Showed a Dally, Boxer, Lakeland, Toy Poodle and Dobe on Saturday night... also got to take the BIS winning poodle for his open class lap as his handler went home Last night night wasnt too bad, showed a Dally, Toy Poodle and Great Dane.. my brag is I took my mums 11 month old puppy dane in the ring, and got a 10 point Best of Breed and Puppy in Group.. He had been soooo naughty for my mum the night before she asked me to give him a shot, and he behaved quite well for me, up until going back for his class in show - where he spat the dummy... I have decided I will enrol Hemi in obedience classes next year when it opens up... I really would like to achieve something with him.
  18. Im showing both saturday and sunday!!! I hope you will be joining us for the last class of Zumba for the year on Wed night? Zumba lady keeps spamming us via sms to remind us to come :D Not sure :D Not spamming - just a gentle reminder

  20. I was at a horse stud the other day, admiring all the pretty horses I turned to Josh and said I want a horse, and he said OK.... Just now gotta save the dollars, buy a block that I can keep it on etc etc etc... a very much pipe dream LOL
  21. Its been a rollercoaster past two days Happy birthday Lara for yesterday A family members much loved oldie, who I had a soft spot for had to be given her wings yesterday, she was 14 and gradually been going down hill ;) RIP beautiful girl - you will be missed... Your mum and brother will be waiting for you on the other side However today is my Hemis 1st Birthday Bad mother didnt remember until i got to work, so I will spoil him tonight when I get home He has brought me so much joy this year and is really a blessing in disguise. Hemi's breeder is just a blessing in disguise as well, I have made a lifelong friends, as well mentor :D . He might not of turned out to be a show dog, but he is just the best companion I could ask for. Hopefully next year I might get my butt into action and start taking Hemi to agility lessons
  22. Its a pity that I can't subdivide - about the best I could offer is for me to build a kennel and to lease it out to you on a permanent basis Kennel 10 can be called Rubystar's Home Would be perfect, except I'm looking to buy and not rent And living in a kennel sounds, um, cold? ;) I'm looking out Roleystone way, but not keen on living on my own out there ;) Roleystone out there ... Its just outside of Kelmy/Armadale... I was looking today on Reiwa and there are few decent sized blocks going in Roley for decent prices too... now to convince OH.... We are hoping to sell our house early next year, move in with the in-laws and buy a block and build....
  23. Love it.... I have heard numerous stories about peoples bottles of "magic water" being taken, and lo and behold its only just water...
  24. Sure, not technically. But the brighteners in laundry detergents are fluorescents. That's what make your clothers look bright and white. The fluorescents remain on the fibres. It's very hard to 'police' unless it is 'flaming' obvious. And ppl still chalk as though ignorance is bliss. Chalking can be a method of cleaning a dog - such as a Westie, you are not supposed to wash the dogs, as you can strip the coat of natural oils and cause skin issues, therefore chalking is the method of cleaning them..
