Can you make up some iceblocks for him - stock cube in water, add a chicken neck (sticking half out) and let him work on it to get the food out of it - definitely outside stuff ....

How about some training? - maybe introduce clicker training, free shaping or learn some tricks .....

Also be sure to consider the size of your car if you are wanting to take the crate out with you. No point having a huge crate that you can't fit in the car!

ahhh very very true - I should add that we have a Kia 4wd and a Magna so plenty of room in both for luggage ... we don't travel with the crates up/open (our boys travel in car harnesses in the back seats) so our crates travel folded up in the boot of the car

The crates are fantastic quality, the seller is amazing and very very helpful... postage is fast and I've got 2 of the XL crates for my GSP's - both have been bought for puppies and have had them sleep in them every night. We have travelled with the older boy and his crate on several occasions, they are easy enough to fold down into the boot of the car and the puppy (now 19 weeks old) love his too! ... had no issues with either boy chewing the crates at all and both look in almost perfect condition still (1 is 3mths old and the other is 18mths old ....)

(oh and no the seller isn't me but I've had several dealings with her over the last couple of years for a number of items)

Has anyone else forgotten to feed their dog or does your dog let you know when it is hungry?

:laugh: we have GSP's ..... they don't let you forget otherwise the sound is akin to someone skinning them alive....

however we feed on our terms, they can whinge and whine as much as they want but we feed them when we do not when they think its dinner time (which is usually an hour or two before we plan to feed them) so they just lie around looking at you from underneath their brows, trying to look like they are wasting away by the minute ....

Well, I won't be able to update on this for a while, it seems. Emailed our Naturopath about it and the message I received back was that she wanted me to stick with what I'm already doing at the moment.

I don't know what she actually thinks/knows about the Turmeric as a herbal additive for medicinal purposes. I'll ask her more about it when I see her next (no appointment arranged as yet, but I'm sure to be seeing her in due course).

that makes perfect sense to me Erny cause when we are coming up with a treatment plan for someone (or a dog/cat) we have to look at the way all the herbs we are prescribing interact with each other - its a balancing act as all have major areas that the work on as well as minor "bonus" results ... too much of one thing can throw the whole treatment plan out of whack ....

S/he may already have Mandela on herbs that do the same thing but work better within their treatment plan they have devised than Turmeric ....

I like Turmeric myself but there are other herbs I'd sometimes use before it just out of personal preference and depending on the client :D

What a lovely little Vizsla you have there Costa's Mum - he looks like he's lulling you into a false sense of security there and planning his first attack ;) - got to love the Gundogs!

For those buying puppy pens for their babies, I suggest you go to Bunnings and buy their compost wire bins. There are four wire panels and cost around $30 - much cheaper than some of the puppy pens available and do the trick. Do a search in general topic and they should come up with pictures. The spiral wire connections are a bit hard to get on so I just use cable ties.

I had a puppy stay for a short holiday recently and had forgotten how they can get thru the bars on the baby gates so just strapped a panel to each gate & no more escapee.

most definitely agree with this - we also find it helpful as we have an indoor cat and therefore an indoor litter box - cat box is now inside the puppy pen (aka compost cage) cat can jump the cage and the dogs can no longer snack (yes its gross but yes dogs will eat it if they can get to it and most dogs think its very very yummy too) ....

also (and this isn't directed at anyone specifically cause I fell into this trap when I was buying for our first boy until someone pointed it out to me) I'd recommend caution when buying collars and leads from discount places - especially if you're buying a large breed dog ... you want something that it going to be able to handle a dog throwing its weight against the metal parts of these items and the cheaper versions just don't always do the job and there would be nothing worse than being out walking your pooch at 16 weeks (who by now could weight 14-15+kgs for a large breed) who see's something and jumps at it and all you're left with is a lead with a broken collar attached whilst you're puppy runs after the items he/she is chasing .... the cheaper metal fastenings can and will break if there is enough pressure placed on them

the better brands may not be as pretty (although the Rogz brand has some lovely colours and pieces in it) but they are a lot safer .... so please have a good think about what you're buying especially if you're getting a boisterous larger breed

well the i-squeaks went down a treat here - the boys absolutely love them .... there has been a lot of squeaking, running and squeaking, jumping and squeaking and running jumping and squeaking happening all afternoon ....

Got to love the whinging, some GSP boys are shocking whingers - Morty was a whinger when he was younger and Archie was an absolute shocker of a noisy little bugger - thankfully he is growing out of it ... but he will still whinge every now and again depending on his mood ... quite musical sometimes lol

Fiona, Love the one or Archie on his back, does he have two different colored eyes? I have noticed it in a couple of pics but the one of Archie and Mort together it is really noticable. Or is it a trick of the camera??

thanks ;) his eyes are in the process of changing colour and 1 seems to be ahead of the other at the moment - there's not that much difference between them normally though but the camera does seem to emphasize the slight difference a bit more than usual

bummer I was hoping that may have been the case and what you said to the boy worked the first time ...

whilst its being sorted out in the meantime can you keep the dogs back from the part of the fence nearest to those neighbours? like with a temporary smaller fence?

is it possible that the knife has been there since the first incident and you just didn't find it till now?

Not noticed it here either - 2 large breed dogs - one currently at 21mths and the other at 16 weeks .... they have both eaten well since we bought them home as 8 week old pups and I've not noticed any reduction in appetite in either of them ....

I picked up some yesterday and there was plenty in the Aldi in Hamilton (Newcastle) left ....

I got 2 of the ones in the first post and 1 of the dark grey (2 zippered pocket) version in the group pic ....

They are all well padded around the waist so seem really comfy to wear .... I really like them

OMG if it is this is brilliant - Chloe is amazing to watch on the Agility field and she's a really wonderful wonderful young lady (and someone who gives new puppies awesome cuddles and socialisation opportunities to very appreciative owners! :wave: ) .... ;)
