  1. Its not actually illegal to sell an animal on ebay, its ebays policy. Hence no law... i would be much happier if there was a law!
  2. From what i can gather (second hand information) in both cases the trachea isnt growing properly. In both cases the trachea was very small, im not sure of exact measurements, but the example that i was given in the second pup it should be something like 10cm long and is only 4cm long. The specialist told us that it is soooo rare for a pup to have it sooo extreme at such a young age, like one in a million. He seems very shocked that a second pup in the litter has the same condition. We are watching the pup in our care like a hawk... i guess im very paranoid, but think its justified to be at the moment! I have been informed that neither parent that was used in this breeding will be bred with again. All owners of pups from the litter have been made aware of what has happened with the 2 pups and are now aware of what to watch out for, We have everything crossed that this pup (and the others from the litter) makes it!
  3. Sad news... second pup diagnosed was PTS last night
  4. Hoping someone can help me out. A friend had a litter of Aussie Bulldogs (father British) born in December last year. They had 9 healthy pups. A female pup at about 9 weeks had symptoms of pneumonia, and of vet consultations, and referral to a specialist, was diagnosed with Tracheal Hypoplasia. This pups condition quickly worsened over a week or so, and the decision was made to Euthanaise the pup. Last week, a second pup in the litter, now approx 14 weeks or so, has now presented with similar symptoms and has also now been referred to a specialist, where it also does not look good for the pup. Although not ours, we are currently in care of one of the pups of this litter. (Owner is on holidays, and pup is with us for the week - to return next week). Obviously we are deeply concerned that this pup too, may have this condition. So far the pup appears not to be showing any symptoms. He does snore quite loudly when sleeping (tho.... our staffy probably wins in the snoring competition!) He doesn’t appear to have a cough, or any other symptoms that I can find thru the web. If anyone has experience with pups this age and this condition, I would like to hear what I should be watching for, what I can do about it, should the pup be tested???? Also does any one know the chances of the rest of the pups in the litter having this condition? I have consulted the breeders, and obviously this pair will not be mated from again!
  5. My pup had parvo only 3 days after we got him this year. parvo is tested by taking a swab sample of poop and mixing it with a chemical then putting it on a stick that reminds me of a pregnancy test, one line to make sure that the stick is working property the 2 lines confirms a positive result. One of the local vets here does not stock parvo test kits and relys solely on the symptoms, high temp, lethargy, vomiting and diarrohea. So I guess diagnosis depends on your vet
  6. my staffy left his there until it was dry enough to move out with his mouth, (which was still pretty fresh!) and continued to dig his hole....has done this every time we have tried it, so figured it didnt work with him!
  7. This is the culpret a couple of months ago,....has grown quite a bit since it was taken!
  8. I've had dogs my whole life, but this is the first time i have owned a male. so I'm sorry to all of those who think this question is pretty stupid! Do desexed males still mark territory? I have an almost 7 month old male pure english staffy. We got him at 3months after he was dumped at the pound,(we have now chaced up his papers!) 2 days after we got him, he was in the vet clinic for 10 days with quite a bad case of parvo, however, we were very lucky and he pulled thru, and is now a happy, healthy and most part very obedient boy! He was desexed almost 4 weeks ago now, as none of the vets here will desex under 6 months of age. He is toliet trained, usually pee's on command. He sleeps in the laudnry with our chi x and hasnt had any overnight accidents for a few months now. Both our dogs come inside at about half past 7 and go out around hourly for toilet breaks, until bed time Problem is....last week, we washed his rather large cushion, bought him inside...within about 10mins was digging his bed and then proceeded to pee on it....grrr!!! all was normal again for a week.. Last night he pees on our bed, (door to bedroom is usually shut and dog usually stays on his own cushion in lounge room, but circumstances last night allowed him to sneak in and pee on bed and on floor in spare room) This is VERY unlike him! I figure he is starting to mature, so would this be a "marking" thing, is he just being naughty? or could there be some other explaination to our little problem? I would like to stop this behaviour befor it becomes a habit! Thanks Danni
  9. I'd be happy to do that. Might wait til "puppy school" finished. i dont think there are many more weeks left. Will ask naomi if she is intersted when i see her next!
  10. Thanks Silvawillow, but Albury is about 3 and 1/2 hour drive awawy (a little for travel especially for a weeknight!) Not sure where Jugiong is but will look into it!
  11. I had my first...and very brief introduction to agility on the weekend, and my dog and i loved it!! Just wondering if there any clubs in the Riverina, preferably close to Griffith, but i'm willing to travel if i have to. I have never done anything like this before. I have been seriously involved in competing horses all my life, up until this year and since having to sell my horse have aquired two spunky little pound dogs who i am enjoying thoroughly! My dogs have the basic obedience down... sit, drop, stay, come, and of course the most essential....shake hands ..lol! but i am a total agility novice, so would need somewhere where i can learn as much as possible! Thanks Danni
  12. I've had my chi about 4 months now. Go on at least weekly drives. if she is in the car she always vomits, even if is a short ride., but in a crete in the back of the ute, or being in the back of the ute she is absolutly fine. Only problem is that the ute is my partners, so most of the time i dont have access to it.
