  1. Hi everyone Thanks for all your responces. Ebony was back to her usual self again by yesterday afternoon, guess she just must have just woken up on the wrong side of the bed!
  2. Hi Erny Thanks for your reply. I will keep an eye on her to see she is drinking, I'm not overly worried about it, you're right she might just be feeling a bit "off" today.
  3. Hi there... just wondering if anyone had experienced anything like this with their dogs? Gave the dogs their breakfast this morning. Zack wolfed his down as usual, but strangely Ebony didnt seem interested at all, just gave it a sniff, and walked off. Later she came back and took it up the yard, but didnt eat it. It was their usual breakfast food, nothing out of the ordinary. NOrmally she would be jumping and dancing around in excitement to eat it. I came back out 15 mins later and it was still there. Zack was finally brave enough to have a look at what she'd left and she snapped at him and he backed off immediately. Its like she didnt want to eat it but didnt want him to have it either. In the end I decided to get rid of the food, she didnt have a problem with me touching it. I didnt want any more scuffles over it whilst I am at work. I dont understand why she's lost her interest in food, its extremely out of character for her, I have NEVER seen her turn back food. Guess I shouldnt hit the panic button till dinner time, see what she does then. The only thing I can think of is that she had vaccinations (C5) and heartworm on Saturday, but she has had her usual hearty appetite since then.
  4. Which section in Woolies should I look for these in? At my local woolies there is a dog part in the meat section with turkey necks and bones, and pet mince, don't think I've seen these patties but?
  5. Thanks for your help. I will remove the food bowls in future. I think you're right he may want to claim some ownership, he is showing other "teenagerish" behaviour too, I feel. Like selective hearing etc. He is desexed, but the operation was done about a month ago when he was at the RSPCA. I know that boys tend to mark, but I thought food bowls would be safe, given how dogs "normally" don't like to do their business anywhere near their bed/food.
  6. We have a reasonably new addition to our family, Zack. He's about 4-6 months old and we've had him for about a month now. He gets along beautifully with our other dog, Ebony. He has started a strange habit. Last week he piddled on Ebony's bowl after they'd finished dinner. He got roused on as we caught him in the act. We thought that was the end of it. Then last night he piddled on his own bowl after he'd eaten. Again he got roused on. This doesnt strike me as normal behaviour, there are no fights over food, so I don't think that's the problem. He is only a puppy, so I'm hoping he will grow out of it. Is there anything we should be doing to prevent this behaviour or watching for.
  7. Thanks everyone.. felt a bit silly starting this thread - thanks for taking it seriously :D
  8. I currently use a ceramic type dish for my dog for her water, but it probably wont be big enough in summer time, or when we get our 2nd dog. Just wondering what kinds of things people use for water dishes for their dogs. I cant really find anything much bigger and I'm not very imaginative when it comes to stuff like this! Cheers.
