  1. There are plenty of Falcon wagons around it's just that from about 2002 to 2010 they pretty well look the same, the Falcon seems to holding their price too now if they are a nice one with low Km's. They arn't making the falcon wagons anymore. It has been replaced by the Territory. Our Wagon is a 2004 (?) & we would be lucky to get $6000 for it in good condition. Is the old Falcon Wagon a "low" or "high" car?
  2. I don't mind driving us there if you want to meet at one of our places? But I can't promise my car won't smell like dog. I promise to give it a vacuum and clean beforehand, though, but it is never a guarantee of smelling purdy! :p
  3. Parking is never great in Freo, so maybe a few of us can car pool?
  4. Come on guys, sounds like it will be worth it It's about 30-45 mins for us.
  5. This was my approach with Millie to start with. But it doesn't work for her. She is PSYCHO. Unless you see it, you really cannot imagine the stress I go through to lean in and clip it to her collar or car harness. Felt like strangling her on many occasions!!!!! This dog is "spethal" and needs to be crated! Her "spethalness" makes her so much fun to train, but a royal PITA to get in and out of the car because she has enthusiasm to train just overflowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Thanks everyone for the replies! Lots to ponder! As someone else said, trading cars is kind of in the "too hard basket" right now but as I am not in urgent need of an upgrade just yet, I thought it best to start looking around! I also would like to sell mine while the value is still up there. It's a 2009 Tucson, Elite model with leather seats (car MUST have leather seats with Lab hair flying around!! ) Got it brand new at an absolute steal, so even now it is still valued at a decent price that would let me trade in for a decent car. I definitely will be going second hand, I can't afford a new one. Don't really want to spend more than 20k. My Tucson has had custom bars put in (only recently, too), like puppy bars but not made by "Puppy Bars". It has a divider down the middle and 2 doors. I either need this setup again, or a single crate, because one of my dogs thinks its HER turn to come out to train every time the door opens! So this has helped with my sanity, she can't jump out when I try to get my well behaved one out who won't jump out until she's told If I didn't need this kind of setup, my options would probably be broader. I do really like the Astra Wagons and I might be able to fit one Lab sized crate in there, but again, it's not a "high" car. While I want to drive up high, I also have no need for a 4WD or any monster sized car! The only time I really drive my car is to dog training and trials, as sad as that sounds! I catch public transport to work. Oh and the occasional trip to Ikea, so my car needs to be big enough to fit my awkward shaped purchases There is HEAPS of space in my Tucson with the seats down (as they fold flat ), but I guess I am really after a car with ample boot space for large dogs while keeping the seats up. I'm not asking for much, am I? Thanks for that other thread link, sheena, I will check it out!
  7. Well done, Ptolomy!!!! Your kids continue to prove that the weather means nothing, and puts me and my girls to shame for using heat as an excuse to just stay home Good girl Lexi! And I wondered why Beans hadn't been in a UD ring in a very long time! Maybe she proved today that you prematurely retired her from UD? Congrats caffy and Snazzy on your agility return and win!!! Congrats to TSD too, and anyone else I missed!
  8. Geez dunno, RV, think I'd prefer my meal at Eat Greek than doing what you're doing! Or maybe not :p Have fun!!
  9. Maybe we could ask a few of our other doggy friends from trials that aren't on DOL, Amy? They will fit right in, we're all dog nutters!!!!!!! If that's ok with Horty!
  10. I'll be your date, amypie. Just don't expect me to bring you flowers!!! Psst... what do you think RV is insinuating?
  11. I'm currently thinking about trading my car in for something slightly more suitable for my dogs. I drive a Hyundai Tucson and even though I bought it with both me and them in mind, in reality, the boot space just isn't generous enough for 2 Labradors. And if I ever get a 3rd, one will have to sit on the back seat but I want them all in the back! I like to drive "up high", so going back to a lower car is going to be hard. So I've been looking around at the larger cars that have a larger boot space. I think the Ford Territory has a nice boot space, but I haven't assessed one in person. From photos and from passing them on the street, the boot looks like it would be deep enough for the dogs to stretch out, and to install a false floor so I can store training gear and my gazebo under it. I am sick of using my back seats to carry training stuff, chairs, gazebos, etc!! It also looks wider than my Tucson, as my Tucson has stupid wheel arches that jut out and eat into the available space! Can't put crates in there because of this. So I guess I'm just seeing if anyone drives one and can recommend it as a dog car, or not? If you happen to have photos of your boot space showing what it holds, even better if it is set up with dogs, then I'd love to see the photos pretty please!! :D
  12. There are no trials, that is when the Albany trials are on, so that part of your calendar is free! You'll just have to cancel any other plans :p
  13. Do you think they will allow us to rock up at breakfast time, and stretch out our meals throughout the entire day? Because there is no way I am going to be able to sample all of that delicious food without taking taking drastic measures to clear more room for all the desserts I want to eat, too! Maybe I should start with dessert to ensure I fit it in :D ;)
  14. I so far haven't had any entries go astray *touch wood*
  15. That's the spirit!!!! Sorry to hear they wouldn't let you run, that sucks Ptolomy/bedazzled - are you guys entered at the Rockingham trial tomorrow? With a forecast of 35, I'm wondering if it's worth showing up It was still in the mid 20's this evening and today wasn't as hot as tomorrow's forecast, so I think it's still going to be sweltering come 4pm when the trial starts.
  16. in your PJ's! I hope she's ok Don't think I'd like to live where I could find a roo in my yard! The only roo I hope to find in my yard is my RubyRoo!
  17. Mine are the same age and both compete in obedience and agility, are on so on par with their training and titles it is freaky, even though I got them 2 years apart. It was never my intention to end up with 2 dogs the same age, I am very aware of the downfalls of that, but it just happened that way when I adopted an adult. I want about a 5-6 year gap between mine, and as both of mine are very close to 5 years old now, that means I should start looking. But, I just don't feel I'm ready for a new pup yet. My current two are still my learning dogs and I have so much to learn still, that I don't want to get a puppy until I feel I'm more prepared, and until my two are in maintenance training mode. I think I'm going to have to make a decision in the next 18 months or so if I am going to add to my pack or not. I don't think I could handle more than 2 trialling dogs at one time, though. I like having 2 trialling dogs, nice number. Makes a trial worthwhile when I have more than 1 out there, but anymore than 2 and I might get a tad stressed!
  18. My two Labrador girls, Ruby (yellow) and Millie (chocolate), both almost 5. Sorry for bad quality pics, they were all taken on my phone.
  19. I adopted a 2 year old Labrador who didn't have any training, except for a few months spent in foster care and probably picked up a few ideas on how to behave while in care. Her previous owners had her chained and muzzled in the backyard with another Lab, so I can't imagine those types of people training and walking their dogs She fit into the household quickly and was a quick learner, but then again, she had my other Lab who was 2 and I'd had since a puppy to learn some manners from. Toilet train like he's a puppy in case he isn't already trained (I was lucky that mine was), and put on a long line and teach a recall. The others already explained a lot, so I'll leave it there! Good luck!
  20. Two Labradors And plenty of room in my heart for many, many more!
  21. Wish council had taken my attack seriously. I got bailed up by 2 dogs much like your son and got bitten by one, unprovoked (just walking past on the opposite side of the road) and all the ranger did was issue a "warning" I've seen the dogs out the front again on 2 separate occasions, unleashed. After that, I've been on a rampage of dobbing in any wandering dog I see to the ranger. Totally sick of it. Hope your son doesn't have any lasting effects, mentally/emotionally from this attack. They take longer to heal than the bite wounds
  22. Labs have a beautiful nature, but they are pretty boisterous, especially with young kids. An older Lab though is really great with kids, they mellow a bit when they get to about 4-5. But they tend to shed A LOT. One of mine doesn't shed excessively, but the other does, even drives ME a bit bonkers!
  23. I have entered obedience on the 29th. I have Sasha, a black Keplie/Lab girl who is in Open. If you want I'll come up to the show with you and try to explain what happens. But, it's not really that hard, just be ready and listen for your number, with a baby boy you'll be one of the 1st in with the Labs. IMO, the important thing with a baby is that they have a good expereince in the ring, doens't matter if they behave or not, no-one expects much from a baby. You'll also be better off going in with a baby because it doesn't matter if you make mistakes either - starting in the baby class is the best place for the dog and handler to learn. Now I know who you are. Sorry, I'm a bit slow on the uptake
