  1. English & British are exactly the same thing. Just people dont know the proper name for the breed.

Australian Bulldogs and American Bulldogs are two totally separate "breeds", and neither are recognised by the ANKC at this time.

They are not recognised because they are cross breeds. Designer breeds. Someone out there decided the British Bulldog needed changing, and rather than trying to do that within the breed, they went away from that.

Ahh right thanks for clarifying. There are so many "types" out there it's a little hard to keep up

  2. Don't forget you've got a French Bulldog as well. Love these dogs!!

French and British are the the only two ANKC recognised "bulldogs".

Ooo I do love the french bulldogs I would LOVE to own one of these guys someday just scared because I have a big I don't want him/her to be hurt or stomped on :p

  3. Hey all im just wondering curious, is there a difference between the English Bulldog and British Bulldog? and why are there some dogs that are taller then some? some are built really short stocky and then some have longer legs? I am a little confused

My friend purchased an Australian Bulldog recently..... and have now realized they aren't a recognized breed why is this? Do they have breathing problems? Are they becoming a recognized breed? I searched some old thread and someone stated they have their own registry?

Also the American Bulldog? is this a recognized breed?

I have also found the "Olde English Bulldogge" does anyone know about this breed? I like the look of these guys :)

A "bulldog" is on my to own list on day how can you resist those faces

  4. Hey, yeah good spots for dogs in Rainbow, if you use this site and hit the dog icon you can find dog friendly camp sites around qld https://www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks/iaparks/gds/IAGDS010.jsp

Seems they changed the rules recently now it says inskip and Teewah only? lol the real world is much better than that.

The only place I have ever seen them crack down about dogs is the national park, and rightly so. Never had a prob in state forrest.

oh great thanks! website is fantastic!

  5. Hard situation.

Someone did this to me when I was purchasing my dogs, I knew a lady who purchased a puppy from a previous litter this breeder had. And because this lady didn't like me she told the breeder I wouldn't be able to look after the dogs etc etc the breeder was very close in not giving me my dogs luckily for me I had paid my deposit and ensured the breeder they would be looked after. And the lady that didn't like me was probably right.... it wasn't a good time to buy the dogs I just finished school was almost homeless and had no job. But I did everything I could to take care of them they have had nothing but the best in life and I can honestly say that, they ate before I did. Thankfully now I grew and got myself out of that situation. and I would be so lost without them.

  6. You know you are a crazy dog lady when you are following one of your dogs down the street with a saucepan in hand trying to get a urine sample.....

    :p

    I have some to add...

You know you're a crazy dog lady when you take sick leave if one of your dogs is sick

or when you are told to take "compassionate leave" for 4 days when one dies.... because you are a blubbering mess and can not get anything done!

  7. Unfortunately I just wouldn't be able to hold my tongue but thats just me..... do you what you feel is right.

To me this is a subject I truly believe in and will debate it to no end and him saying "purebred dog owners like to put down cross breeds" is totally wrong and shocking.

  8. Ohh pick me, pick me!!!

Yesterday we decided to head down to our local dog park..... as soon as we walked we were greeted by a large dog (wont say what breed) with his teeth baring and growling then proceeding to charge at Boss and chase him, while Boss tried to run away.... Boss was also being rapidly humped by a younger dog. We called Boss away and the larger/older dog ran away. Mind you this dogs owner did NOTHING!!! 5 mins later the dog was back teeth baring, growling and charging at Boss. This happened about 3 times..... the next time this dog meant business Boss started running away and this dog actually bit Boss and Boss let out a massive yelp so my motherly instinct kicked in and before I knew it I was yelling "getting your f**king dog out of the f**king park its aggressive and going my dog" which the owner replied "He's not aggressive" WTF ARE YOU KIDDING ME  ;) and I replied "I'll call the f**king council, you can not bring aggressive dogs to a dog park" And the aggressive dog actually drew blood from another dog at the park.

So they left which they should.... then one of his friend had the audacity to tell me it's MY fault because I brought an entire dog to the dog park :p Sorry but my dog is not the one with the problem!!

Grrr made my blood boil thats for sure!

  9. As for not knowing about puppy farms - we all know animal cruelty exists and we all know there are people out there who breed purely for money and think it's OK to treat animals like shit until the day they die or are no longer profitable. If you DONT well I think someone's been living in too sheltered a world.

I agree but I think the public simply do not think about it. They are totally oblivious to this fact. I'm sure it hasn't even crossed their minds for one second!

Regardless of what people think of Dr Chis Brown I think he did a great job and I'm pleased this issue is being more publicly stated and showed on popular tv programs to get the word out there. I am glad more people will now be aware of this issue.

i think because he is a hit with us females, well most of us anyway, LOL he will get the message out there so i am glad he is on the case now. we could not have found a better person for the job.

Somehow he just doesn't hit it with me :laugh: any who, I agree and I hope he doesn't "stuff" it up.

  11. It could be... sounds young, but it's quite possible... if it gets any worse or goes on much longer, i'd be considering having it checked out. The vet could either give some pain meds or maybe take x-rays to check for arthritic change in the bones.

My 7 year old kelpie Paige has arthritis in her foreleg, I know that her's is caused because she broke her leg as a youngster when a farm gate fell on her

ETA she was 4ish when she started getting arthritis

Ah ok thanks. I have told all my family members to get him to the vet if he gets any worse as I am about to leave for holidays ;) (great I'll be worried about him the whole time)
