Thank you everyone,
I didn't see the split coming but my son and I are doing okay.
Raz,
Eggs are really cheap lol we have our own chooks, I had to stop Digi
eating to many, I'm getting a veggie garden on the way so they will be free as well once
established, also using the home brand sardines got a few 3pks the other day for $1.55.
The chicken frames are really meaty as I get them from a butcher, i will ask them about their pet
meat as i know they don't use preservatives.
FTPO I will probably change Digi over to Optimum or Barko (If they have them in Large Breed Puppy Food)
Thank you Poodlefan I would love to hear everything I can.
JulesP I'vebeen reading the Barko thread it has been very informative.
Thank You again I really appreciate the help during this sh*tty time

At moment, I'm feeding the Fluff Ball
Hills Science Large Breed Puppy Food, Chicken carcasses, Chicken wings, Sardines (once a week),
table scraps (vegies).
I have heard about Optimum Large Breed Dry Food but haven't tried him on that (it's cheaper), chicken carcasses i get for a gold coin donation same with bones,
I want the best but on a budget iykwim.

I need some advice please.
My relationship has just ended, I'm now on my own with a 5 yr old child and a beautiful Newfie Pup.
With the ending of the relationship, the income has changed (don't worry I can still look after my fur baby)
I wanted to continue with Digi's training but will have to put that off until i'm back on my feet, I still want to give him the
best diet, what's best but economical iykwim.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Just a question?????
I have a Newfie Pup and am finding it hard to find the right food for him.
He doesn't eat a lot in my eyes for a Giant Breed, at the moment I have him on Hills.
Do you think either of these Brands would benefit him????
Thanks

Thank You Corvus,
Digi is a gorgeous boy and I know he has to get over
the puppy stage, I can't wait for training to resume then we will
have more one on one with the trainer.
We chose a Newfie because of our sons special needs, they will grow up
the best of Buddies
Thanks 4Paws I have put the site in my favourites will have a look at it later
when my son goes to bed.
Better be off Child is calling.
Thanks again

I have a beautiful 3 1/2 month old Newfoundland Puppy Digi, he's a great pup but I'm having
issues of him nipping my 5 yr old son.
The reason why he targets my son is because my son flaps his arms (he's autistic) so Digi thinks he
has a wonderful toy.
I purchased a clicker the other day and yesterday did some basics and was amazed how quick he understood.
How do I go about stopping him nipping (other than having my son outside) using the Clicker and Rewards.
BTW we are booked into Training next Month.
Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the great advice Nekhbet,
Lucky for me Hills offers refunds for their food if it's wrong for your dog or
they don't like it. I will phone the shop tomorrow and make sure they have
Eagle Pack and try him on that.
Love the idea about the egg I will have to place a few around coz he has
zoned in where the chooks mainly lay.
I also have another question when you feed chicken carcasses how many do you give
per feed etc. I have put an order at our local butchers and I pick them up next week.
At the moment our boy is clipped due to us living in a High Risk area for Paralysis Ticks (didn't know
about these beforehand ) I can't wait til after tick season when i can let his coat grow again.
Thanks Again

Thanks for that Nekhbet i thought that was a huge amount of food.
I don't feed him that much as I believed it was to much.
Hmmmm will have to do a sweep of the yard to make sure he doesn't find to many eggs.
BTW what's Biotin????? Yes I'm new puppy owner

We have a 3 1/2 month old Newfie Puppy and I'm confused
on the amount of food to feed him.
He has Hills Science Large Breed Puppy food, some left overs
bones to chew on and eggs.
On the package they say to feed him 9 cups a day but I find he isn't eating
that much (in fact I find him a small eater). Another problem is we live on
5 acres and let our chooks and ducks roam free during the day. Digi loves eggs
and goes looking for them.
How many is to many??????? He can find up to 4 eggs a day.
Do you think I can cut his Dry food down and mix it with Raw eg
Raw in the morning and Dry at night????
Thanks

I got this information from
http://www.flintriverranch.org/labels.html
Sodium Bentonite - Sodium Bentonite is basicly a small amount of inert clay which is used as a binder to aid in the formulation of small pellets of food. Side advantage of this ingredient is that it is said to aid in the digestive process.

Our class included large and small breeds.
I found that the bullies were lab puppies. At the
end they had to be restrained for the entire class so the others
could play peacefully

We have just finished PPS at our Vets and loved every minute of it.
The puppies had off lead time at the beginning, 1/2 way through and at the end.
Pups were taught sit, drop, heel and stay over the 4 weeks, we were given an
information pack and last night we had our Graduation Class ).
What I like most of all is we can phone the vets and talk to K and she will help us
out.
I plan to continue my boys training as he is a Giant Breed.

Hi,
We have just welcomed a Newfy Puppy into our home.
I'm undecided on which to get a Halti or Check Chain. I know when we had our Irish Setter years ago
the Halti was great for training but i'm very new at owning a giant breed and would love some hints
on basic training.
Thanks

Thanks for asking Je33ie in between a sick child, looking after many other animals on our 5 acre property
the ramps are finished, but do you think our Newfy Baby will use them  Nope not a chance!!!!!!!!!!
I wont give up but I can see it will be slow going as our boy is stubbon.

I'm new here and just have to say that those ramps are great je33ie.
I was coming in to ask the same question as Andrew asked as we have just
welcomed a Newfoundland puppy.
I'm off to the Hardware to get supplies today.
Cheers

Hi,
I was to restart training with my 4 month Newfie Pup on Saturday.
My living circumstances have changed this week and I'm now living
solo with my 5 yr old son, also finance will be a little bit tight until i can get on my feet.
I was wondering how much do trainers charge on the average when they visit you. I just can't get to
classes now as I have no-one to watch my son.
Digi our pup is getting there with his training but i do think he needs some more formal help.
I'm close to Lismore NSW if that helps.
Thanks Sharon
